My husband and family have been going here for years the encounter that we experience today I pray no one has to go through. While waiting in line per usual a lady walks up directly to my car. Not in a nice matter directing me to pull up. No apron I don't know who she is. After I asked her to tell the car ahead to pull up. She stated she asked me previously to do so I did pull up, I guess I didn't pull up far enough for her. I stated have a good day. I mean it's Mother's Day why was she so angry? She then went on to tell me she has a right to refuse to service. And for what? I don't want to say why I really think this lady refuse to service my family. My children wanted to take mom out for ice cream. The younger girls are always so nice and professional every time, my husband and I always tip them as well. Love this place. Everyone has their town staple ice cream shop. This ones ours. Started off as the place where your friends' sisters worked and maybe hooked you up with a free ice cream. A place where at any given time in the summer there's a line of cars spilling out onto Wayne road. Then the day came when it was open all year round and that was it. Game, set, match to Dairy Dan. We now have all year to fight the urge to pull in, instead of just the summertime. As far as the ice cream goes, it's awesome. Portions are big, if you're into that. Nice thing about this place is the little things. Like if you get a flurry it's FULLY mixed up, not half assed mixed. The shakes are made right, not too thick but not too thinned out. They don't skimp out on the toppings or flurry mix in's. Whatever you order it's always well put together. To me that matters. read more

Waited in the drive thru for 15 mins before someone came to service us while the cars in front as well as behind received greetings and their orders brought to their car windows. After someone did ask about our order they then told us to drive to the window we can grab it there we sat and waited patiently to get to the window but one employee was having a very casual, long conversation hanging in the window to the car front of us creating an even longer line. We then saw someone coming out with our order she stopped at the door and proceeded to talk to another Dairy Dan girl, turned around and went back inside. 7 more mins passed a different girl brought the same order out and handed to us then Another employee (I'm assuming she was management because she was a lot older than the other girls) Yells out to us to go to the window next time so we won't hold up their line all the while their worker that was talking to the car in front of us was STILL hanging in their window continuing her conversation. I have never used the race card but yes I am black and yes everyone else were white even if these workers were just born and raised ignorant and never taught proper customer service I will never be back or recommend this location read more

Service is not great here, in fact it can be a bit argumentative. I actually had to sit there arguing with some woman who insisted she gave me the right order when clearly she did not. Ummm hello, shakes are melting for the people behind us right in front of my eyes, just give me my correct order please and stop with the attitude. We sat there for quite awhile in fact, ruining not only my experience but a couple cars behind me as they put a sundae up to melt as we continued debating. Holding up traffic, causing honking horns and backups on Wayne. At some point she actually made a comment about well it was only a dollar or so anyway. Hmmmm. So give me what I ordered instead of wasting more ice cream lady... Besides when one can only have sweets in small quantities every so often you want what you freaking want and when you do not get it, yep it sucks. I am not eating what I did not order. We drive from Farmington Hills just to go to Dairy Dan. It has never disappointed in quality of service or ice cream. The convenience of the drive-thru is not the only reason we love Dairy Dan. When you think of drive-thru you realize that you are going to sit in line, but even when there are cars ahead of you the employees come out to your car and take your order. Once you get to the window to pay your order is ready to go! The ice cream is better than Dairy Queen and the service and convenience are awesome. read more

Over the summer this place it one of my favorites to venture out to after mini golfing. This is your typical run of the mill small town dairy place but what it lacks in glamour it more than makes up for in quality. It tends to get busy on weekend nights and there's not a whole room for parking and eating- it's still a great place to grab ice cream at. read more

I usually have a great experience at this place. The workers are normally friendly and the ice cream is always worth the wait. However, this last visit was so awful it was worth the update to my last review. I ordered the "flurry of the month" and the girl forgot an ingredient in it and I made that known to her with absolutely zero tone in my voice, I wasn't even bothered by it all that much- people forget things, it happens. It would have been fine if she had offered to fix it, instead she actually shrugged her shoulders and gave me a face that said, "well, what am I going to do about it?" I didn't know how to react, people aren't usually That blatantly rude so I just walked away. That's when I heard her make a snide remark to the customer behind me, "I can't make what you don't order". Okay. One, I DID order it, you messed up. Two, there was absolutely NO reason for you to be that rude. It was humiliating in front of all those people. Tip- if you have a customer that has a problem and was very kind about it, you try and help them, not shrug your shoulders and let them go on their way in that fashion. They took a long time and when I questioned why the owner told me, in a very rude tone, my order of two cookie dough shakes and a coconut cream pie flurry were specialty items and that I ordered a lot of items. My total was $13.52, but when I got my receipt they rang it up for $14.52. I'll be returning to my favorite ice cream joint, Mickey's on Wayne road. read more
