Had an amazing custom cake made at Dairy Queen for my cousin! I printed a photo of a cake that I found online that fit my cousin ideal birthday cake! Going in to order the cake the woman who decorates the cakes doubted herself at first for this design, I told her I trusted her and knew she could do it! Seeing the cake in person, was beyond my expectations! The color to the design was exactly like the photo! She did an amazing job with this cake and my cousin loved it! After waiting 10 minutes in line, I ordered my son a strawberry cheesecake blizzard. when waiting for my order I heard a worker ask his coworker if there was any more cheesecake. the coworker directed him to get it and I thought my cheesecake would be in my ice cream. I have been eating at this DQ since the early 90s, and I have never left disappointed! The food is always good and, of course, there's the ice cream! Even though I usually say, "I'm all about the burger," my DQ go-to is their ckicken strip basket. That was the case this week when I was in the area and looking for something tasty and fattening. Delicious as always! The chicken strips were hot and fresh, the fries yummy and plentiful, and the Texas Toast was gone almost before I sat down. Even though this is technically a chain restaurant I'm gonna go with 5 stars for this location. Mainly because it has been owned and operated by the same guy for as long as I can remember(Dave Baum - "DQ Dave"). I've been coming here since I was a kid and it's not uncommon to see local little leagues and other sports teams in here when the coach brings them in for ice cream after a game. There was even a period of time when they lost the DQ brand name but still remained open with most of the same stuff though branded as "Caspers". Thankfully they brought the brand back and it really hasn't changed much over the years. They installed a drive thru years ago that is pretty popular as the line extends out of the parking lot and onto the street a lot of times when I visit or drive by. They no longer have foot long hotdogs/chili dogs but they still have the normal sized one and the chili is the same as it's always been. The burgers and chicken are good quality and the service is generally pretty fast. They change the menu every so often but you can still get things like the 'chili meltdown' cheeseburger if you customize the order and they have the ingredients in stock. I get that the service can be hit or miss sometimes as they change employees pretty often. Though any time I've ever had an issue Dave has worked to address it. He can't control everything but he does go the extra mile for his customers. Still stop in for lunch or ice cream about once a month on average (and the cones here are much less expensive than the other DQs in the area). Hate to see the average sitting around 3 stars so, 5 stars! read more

The sauce containers that are manually filled by the staff have almost no sauce in them. It was a joke of an attempt at even filling them. Enough to dip half a piece of chicken. The only reason I put for stars is because they put peanuts in my blizzard one time, and I'm allergic to nuts. That still won't stop me from getting a treat once in a while though. And we were charged more than the original price for 3 mediums..... when we said we got 3 mediums and a completely wrong flavor, he LITERALLY said "no you didn't, this is what you got"... we just looked at him confused. I'll stick with the DQ in South Windsor. First time here and last. Website states you can get the $7 meal deal all day and can even mobile order it, but at the register we were told we couldn't. We really only come for the meal deal. Cheeseburger had no pickles on it and my wife's bun had hard spots. My wife's fries container was only a third of the way full. Beyond pathetic order of fries. Went back up to order ice cream and 3 other people were taken care of before me even though I was first in line. I asked a worker if I was in the wrong line and she just looked at me. I asked again and she still looked at me then turned around and walked away. Another worker went to help her another person behind me so again I asked if I was in the wrong line. He said no and helped me. The ice cream was the only saving grace of a cheat meal well wasted. Since i grew up down the street from here i will always be a fan.The place is packed most of the time and particularly in the summer till closing time.But who doesnt like DQ?The food is good and its usually served fast.You also get a boat load of fries with your meals too.They have a decent seating area with a T.V. and outdoor seating as well.The dining room is usually a mess and the condiment station is in dissarray as well as the restroom.The staff are nice and curtious especially when Dave is there hanging around like a Vulture.I must mention that i have lactose issues but i cant pass up a Dilly Bar,Buster Bar or a dipped cone when im jonesing for some ice cream. read more
