Dairy Queen in Monte Vista, CO, is one of very few places to take the kids out for ice cream. I can handle that. My crew and I went through the drive-thru on 9/2/2023. It's an easy place to get in and out of. The speaker was in good working condition. The employees were kind and worked quickly to get our order out even though they made me wait in an area just past the pickup window. My kiddos got soft-serv with their kids meal. Giving a bad review to restaurants usually isn't my thing But today I had the third or fourth bad experience at the Dairy Queen in Monte Vista, Co. It took them 20 minutes to bring my food out to my car. I wasn't the only one, 3-4 cars waited that long also. As I said not the first time, but the longest wait. Yes they were busy. But in the last couple months this has been the norm. Here is my suggestion, if you can't get my food to me within a few minutes, then don't take any more orders until you can fulfill the orders you have in the queue. That way if someone doesn't want to wait in line that long they can leave. Once we have payed for our meals, most won't leave. Please get it together management. read more

Standard fast food ambiance; floor is usually extremely dirty and you should wipe down the seats and tables because they are usually dirty. Drive-thru service is slow; you are best off ordering to go inside. I have sat at the drive-thru attempting to place an order for 5-12 minutes with no cars in front of me. Usually told, "I'll be right back to take your order." Then crickets...food is as expected, mediocre processed food, cold fries are the norm, cold burgers and chicken strips if order placed at drive-thru. Juanito and Sahara couldn't take a simple order, were so disrespectful and had 6 other employees get involved. A meal deal plus a cheeseburger isn't that complicated but Sahara threw a tantrum trying to overcharge because she wouldn't listen to the order. read more

Since my last encounter with these fools I said I'm not going back. I decided to give them another chance. Monte Vista isn't filled with too many choices. I couldn't understand this crap with telling cars to park to the side. I seen them park cars that had small orders, even like one ice cream cone. There weren't that many cars to do that. Went here on July 28th and got some of the most disrespectful drive through service I've ever been through. Girl with a septum piercing had her back faced to me the whole time, along with another guy . They didn't say a word to us when we first came to the drive through to when we left. I went into the Monte Vista DQ to see how they were doing. They were very busy with lots of patrons. There were also a lot of people working behind the counter and they seemed to be well organized. They took my order for a cup of ice cream and within a minute called my number. DQ ice cream was as good as ever. Best thing about this DQ? It's "real" a place the whole town goes to take a chance and slow down , or grab a quick bite, my parents took me for ice cream at DQ all over the USA growing up as military kids. Generally I never have any problems with this place, but every once in a while they screw it up. Sometimes it's something small like straws (which isn't a big deal), other times they'll take your credit card and not give it back. Several of my friends have had to go back in and demand their cards because a drive thru person (who might not work there anymore) was stealing them. I just keep my order simple and most of the time things turn out fine. I think if you go in right before lunch it's actually pretty good because they just cooked all the food for the day, so maybe try that. read more
