Solid 4 stars! For the price, the food options are good. It's nothing fancy, but the bacon is crisp and the food comes out hot. My meal was missing artisan bread and they were apparently out of potatoes because they subbed the red potatoes for hash browns. It's fine, but I would've appreciated a heads up. I was full so didn't push the toast/bread, and the cappuccino was good enough to distract me. We did have to avoid one seating area due to a lot of flies, but I understand it's an uphill battle. They have a bug zapper on the wall in the back. Service was decent and the finishes inside were cool. Check out the growler light fixtures at the bar.

Boys shared a blueberry pancake (perfect for two kids) I got the scramble which was amazing and the hocus pocus chai!!!

Food is really amazing!!!! So is the hocus pocus late!! I would give it 5 stars if it was child friendly. So for those of you without kids this place is great (as long as you're not in a rush). With kids I'd give it like 3 stars because the food and ordering took a while. They didn't have much staff so the front of house was doing tons of different jobs. Luckily we brought some snacks with us. It looks like a mix between an old brewery and coffee shop. They have a little shop area to buy coffee and such and a bar for extra fancy adult drinks. It was nicely decorated for Halloween. My guess is their "target crowd" are any age without kidddos... Would we come back (even with the kids)? Yes.... We would just plan ahead and have one person come order ahead of time while another played outside with the kiddos around town. Again the food and drinks were wonderful!

First time trying out this coffee shop and I really like the Drooling Moose latte. I can be picky with my espresso but they nailed this one. I do think I visited on a day where they were short staffed because there was only one server running around who was also the cashier, however she was really holding it down!

Great coffee and friendly people. The bread pudding French toast was crazy good. They roast their own coffee and brew beer here apparently. Anyway if you're in town for the dunes or whatever and need a good breakfast beforehand I'd definitely come here.

The Roast Cafe was a cool vibe in a small college town. We had breakfast and coffee. Both were excellent. Staff was friendly and bright. They have a cool concept of breakfast and bar service. Good place to stop. Almost made me want to go back to college.

Huevos rancheros with green chile and avocado

I enjoyed gluten free huevos rancheros with green chile and my husband loved the burrito. The coffee was excellent as was the service. We enjoyed the outdoor table and will stop by again next time we are passing through.

    Such a cute aesthetic

Genius idea for a small town place. Stopped here on our way to Great Sand Dunes NP. The drip coffee is great: smooth, delightful. I ordered the breakfast burrito smothered in the green chili pork. I was surprised by two things: it was cold and flavorless. I'm not even sure how that happens, but, alas, it was both. My friend ordered the quesadillas and it, too, was sorely lacking in any kind of flavor. My other friend ordered hard fried eggs and they came out runny. The waitress was quick to resolve the problem and brought her new eggs to order. The service really is good, but maybe breakfast isn't their strength?

The amount of avocado in their "avocado and egg toast". It was mainly tomato!

I never thought anyone could mess up avocado toast. Felt absolutely robbed. My wife's "scrambled egg" with her's was omelette. Tea was tepid and therefore tasteless.

When we arrived, however, the aroma of a barbecue restaurant across the street convinced us to eat there instead, so we stopped in here for drinks only. I ordered a flight of six craft beverages , and all were above average. My favorite was the blackberry cider, which stood out for its excellent flavor and balance. I also appreciated that the beers were locally crafted and that the brewery offered a seasonal selection of specialty brews. We arrived right when they opened at 11:00 a.m., so the atmosphere was quiet and uncrowded. While the service was adequate, it lacked enthusiasm and did not leave a lasting impression. On a positive note, both the taproom and restrooms were clean and well maintained. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would recommend this brewery as a pleasant stop for a locally crafted drink. Fun fact: Alamosa, located in Colorado's San Luis Valley, is known for experiencing some of the coldest nighttime temperatures in the state due to it's location in the valley and unique geography.

We got the pretzel as an appetizer.... The pretzel was greasy and so was the cheese they gave with it. The cheese seemed frozen, then microwaved. It had a really dull/greasy taste and odd texture. The French dip was like rubber. And the au jus sauce was bland. For her the best part was the side salad. She even said her beer had an odd taste to it. My chicken sandwich had no flavor. The red potatoes where severly over cooked on the outside and under cooked on the inside. My drink (the house black cherry cream soda), was really good the first glass! Second glass was flat and very syrupy. The server briefly came by a couple times. He would quickly ask "everything ok?", as he rushed by. He wasn't horrible, but he wasn't great either. Overall we where very unimpressed. Not somewhere we'll be returning to. For the price, I had better expectations.

It was about a 15 minute wait to get a table on a very busy Saturday afternoon. I am bumping up my review since it was a dog-friendly restaurant. Our server, Arthur, graciously brought me more water for my dog and offered me a bowl even though I already had both. For starters I had a Whiskey Smash ($14.75). I enjoyed it. I sampled a taste from my brother's beer flight ($18). My mom's Desperado Mexi Lager also. They were mostly enjoyable. Red apple cider was probably something I would have on the front porch. For lunch I had the BBQ brisket sandwich ($12.50) with fries, pickles, and onions. They did not skimp on the meat. There was BBQ at the table which I added because the brisket was a bit flavorless. I chuckled when our server brought the mac and cheese out to my ultra picky nieces. He stated to my sister-in-law that it was in fact the Kraft-style mac, but it wasn't. I mean maybe he should learn what that means first of all. But second... Can you believe those kids are so picky that they didn't eat a single bite? Eight dollars per bowl with a side. Wow. My kids would starve the rest of the afternoon if their food smelled and tasted half way decent. Lol. I can almost hear the mutterings at my parenting style. Hey at least I drank my overpriced whiskey cocktail. Because our party was so large, automatic gratuity of 18% was added to our ticket. The women's restroom was small and mostly clean, but awkward entering and exiting with other women and girls crammed inside. I did not like how tables in our area were left untouched long after other patrons left. If I had my choice, I would probably opt for an alternative place next time. I was not that impressed by the staff's overall indifference to all the patrons. RATING BREAKDOWN (3 stars overall, bumped up because they were dog-friendly!) The fries were crispy and I really liked the "spicy" barbecue sauce. The service left a lot to be desired. When our food came out, something was missing from every plate. The waiter had to ask someone if they had to-go cups for my 8 year old and the runners had to ask about barbecue sauce for our brisket . I really wanted to like this place, my husband and I have enjoyed their spirits at various restaurants in Taos, but we were very underwhelmed and felt it was very overpriced especially for lacking service.

I strolled in after a long day of convention chatter downtown, feeling like a city-slicker cowboy wandering into an old ghost town. I pulled up a seat at the bar, surrounded by locals swapping stories and laughs. Behind the bar was the owner himself, ready to give me the lowdown on the beers. He suggested their Revolution beer but warned me it didn't come out quite like usual. so they added mango. Being the adventurous type, I said, "Why not?" First sip... home run! Easily my favorite of the night. One beer turned into a few, and before I knew it, I was closing the place down, talking with locals and the owner like we'd known each other for years. It was so good I came back the very next day to finish the beer list and check out the food. And let me tell you; Lord have mercy..... the food matched the beer in greatness. Perfect beer food. I started with the spicy habanero cheese curds (fiery but addictive) and then went in for the kill: The Rachel Fully Loaded with turkey, pastrami, and bacon on marbled rye, with chips on the side. That sandwich didn't stand a chance. Every crumb vanished. Naturally, I enjoyed a flight and stocked up with a couple of growlers to go. (Flip Flamingo Rule #1: Always keep empty growlers in the car, just in case.) The owners also mentioned they're moving to a bigger location closer to the reservoir, hopefully in September.
