My partner went with the wimpy burger ( not a wimpy burger.. 1.2 lbs) and cajun fries. From the moment you walk in, you know you've found a true local spot. It's small, cozy and decorated with fun signs and memorabilia. The staff are amazing, friendly, welcoming, and just the kind of people you want to see when you're about to dive into comfort food. Even at 1:30 pm, that in between lunch/dinner time, the place was steadily busy. And now I know why. The onion rings? Fantastic. I'm an onion ring snob and these were fresh, crispy, and legit. no frozen batter here, and none of that "pull the whole onion out in one bite" nonsense ( I hate that). The fries were hot, crisp and perfectly seasoned. And the burger is 100% beef, juicy, and packed with flavor. This is a local gem and I'm so glad we went. We'll definitely be back.

It's not really a truck stop, but it is part of a convenience store at a Phillips 66 gas station. The only options for burgers in Waterloo near where we are, are either fast food or Denny's, Applebees, etc. It's a bit of a drive down Rte 3 to Red Bud, but if you want a very good burger at a reasonable price it's worth making the trip.

Very small dining area - appears that the main focus of their business is the drive through and pick up orders. For us - as walk in customers who used the kiosk - that process resulted in a delay in service. (measuring that delay by McDonald's standards). One employee was working the counter - assisting guests with drink refills and taking orders. We watched as she filled an order for people who came to the counter after our kiosk order had been in the queue. She then filled our order. In the meantime - the other employees were busy filling drive through and curbside orders. We were staying nearby - on two other visits we were: 1 - unable to get an ice cream cone because the machine needed to be cleaned. 2 - unable to get a sugar free French vanilla coffee at 9:30 am because they were out of the syrup. But - the drive through lanes are very busy each time we went by. Good location - need to work out some kinks with service.

The young lady provided just the right amount of attention and was super friendly. This place would be an excellent place to frequent if you were a local. They have a gaming room with electronic gambling machines but there is tournament sized shuffleboard along the back wall and it looked like it was free to play. Also soft tip dart boards if you enjoy that.
