    Receipt.

I have been here twice. Most of the time I have to wait on a mobile order. This location generally has the best gravy for the chicken basket. Thick, not watered down. I ordered from Lake Reba with a 16 minute do able window to get . I walk in. No one at the counter, Justin was leaving and asked if he could help me. I showed him my mobile receipt. My order was given out in the drive thru? He had them remake it it and explained to the crew how to do it. Not a big deal but my receipt says to pick up inside. Just a little more attention to detail. Food is always good.

While on a recent roadtrip, (Spring-2026), we saw a Culver's drive-thru outside of Richmond KY. The…read moreclosest one to where we live is two-states away, so we said, Lets's go! This nearly-nationwide Wisconsin-originated fast-food chain has a cult-following for their Wisconsin-originated ButterBurgers© (which are actually steaky-tasting burgers on buttered buns). And for a version of Wisconsin-famous squeaky-when-you-bite-them fried cheese-curds, not quite as sharp tasting (or quite as squeaky) as you would get in Wisconsin, but fun to bite! Well, we were in a mood, and went for their bragged-about shredded-chuck pot-roast sandwiches. I am sad to report that we were underwhelmed. The flavor was rather dull, despite the herb&spice cooking marinade, and the texture was not quite fall-apart-tender the way low-and-slow should come out. The cheese curds were ok. And of course we got the yummy flavor-of-the-day frozen custard: Turtle! (vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and toasted pecan). Aaaah :-p Well, the pot roast sandwiches were not thrilling. And we noticed that the Culver's drive-thru receipt is one of those that only lists the total price, not the price of each item. Why? If we were locals, we could have gone back to talk to them about this stuff. So, overall ok, but we can't 5-star this experience.

The only thing that will catch your attention when driving by is the roadside banner mentioning "Open Fridays from 4pm-8pm" -rather poorly designed sign because for years I thought this place was open ONLY Fridays 4-8pm. Today was Friday and I had free time, so I thought I would stop in. When I approached the door, I could see that they are open daytime hours, as well. But without the banner, I never ever would have noticed this place. Anyhow, I ordered Tom's Spicy Burger and a side of onion rings. Delicious burger but neither spicy nor a "Better Burger" -especially for the price. See other reviews for burger description. Kroger's "Private Selection" frozen burger patties taste better and the package of six patties is about the same price as Tom's Spicy. Still, it wasn't bad but it was definitely more pricey than spicy. The onion rings were delicious. I would strongly recommend them as I do prefer battered rather than breaded. They were perfectly fried, great temperature, and they were the highlight of the meal. The fried pickles appetizer was a total waste of $8. Always had deep-fried battered pickle chips at other places. Here? They take a dill pickle spear and slice it long-ways before battering the thin strips and frying. I truly thought they accidentally brought me fried string beans or something. The ONLY detectable flavor was the batter and the ranch dip with the faintest, barely existent hint of dill. I might drop in another time but after a nearly $30 bill for the three items and a drink just for myself, there are other places with a better value. Jackson's comes to mind and they know how to make fried pickles much better!

Burgers were fresh and delicious, and I enjoyed the lettuce and tomato on my California burger. The chili dog had plenty of chili and onions and just the right amount of bun. Tots and onion rings were cooked to perfection and paired so well with the signature sauce (try the smoky sauce and thank me later!). When you are in Richmond Freddy's is a solid choice for a quick meal.

The meal cost a couple dollars more than a combo meal from McDonald's. The burger and fries tasted fresh and hot. Not like it had been sitting for hours. I ended up removing the pickles, not really a pickle fan. I would have preferred the pickles to be sliced smaller instead of long slices. The ice in the fountain machine is small nuggets, which to me is my favorite kind. The burger and fries were delicious, was not able to eat it all. Had to save room for dessert which ended up being the new Dr Pepper frost. Overall I really enjoyed this meal and will definitely be eating here again someday Lord willing. Would recommend to anyone.
