So, I know it has new ownership, but the food quality has unfortunately decreased. The gravy has been watered down, the blizzards are noticeably not filled to the top and the staff seem like they are not getting paid to be there. I'm honestly not trying to be rude, but it's just the truth. I honestly wish I could transplant the DQ by my work on San Mateo up to Rio, because it's quality and precision every single time. They run a tight ship. The blizzards are the best. But, unfortunately my boys want ice cream after I pick them up from school, and we order a medium blizzard and a quarter is missing from the top. Food was sub standard. I must have caught them on a bad day. The window attendant forgot to return my credit card. I had to ask for it back. When I got home, they had not given me the ordered and charged sandwich. I drove the 10 miles back and asked for my sandwich. I haven't been very impressed with this DQ location. The good: the cakes and other treats, and the chicken strip basket. I see people have had issues with the treats, but I haven't on several visits. The regular strip basket has always been good too. The bad: the burgers and tossed strips. The buns have been hard or rubbery almost every time I've gone, and they can't seem to count correctly on the sauced strips. I really want to like this place. I like the small business supporting local sports and stuff idea. It really makes me root for a business, but this location just isn't making that as easy as it should be. read more

Have you DQ'd today? Well, I hadn't since we left California a few years ago. I forgot how wonderful their fresh banana milk shakes are! Yum! What a special treat! I also enjoyed a crispy order of French fries for a mid afternoon snack. Janelle took my order and it was one of the most pleasant welcomes and order taking that I ever had a drive thru. I want to really like this local DQ that has been in Rio Rancho forever and supports the community, but this last time around it was a mess. Not only was a customer allowed to be blatantly ableist and rude to a child who very clearly had a service dog, but service was extremely slow and the entire place was dirty. I ordered a chocolate Oreo blizzard and it was very runny and basically melted so they definitely didn't try to flip it. I saw 6 employees in there talking and I still had to wait until I pulled up before they started making it. the blizzard was not mixed all the way so the bottom half was just vanilla soft serve. Consistently good service. For a nice treat on our way home. It's better than most dine in experiences I have these days. We love DQ! This location in Rio Rancho has been here forever and one of my favorite things is that they have chocolate soft serve where many locations have only vanilla and mix in chocolate syrup to make it chocolate. I love the staples; bizzards, dipped cones, dilly bars but note, the only way to get a chocolate cone "dipped" in cherry here is to get it sundae style with the cherry dip drizzeled over top. We have been going to this Dairy Queen on and off for about 19 years. It appears to have been operated by the same owners. We have always had good food and good service at this Dairy Queen. We have eaten in or picked up through drive-through and always received good service... My major problem is my own, I am diabetic so I am limited to what I can get. We visited this location on 9/7/22 at around 7:30pm. We ordered 3 Peanut Buster Parfaits. This was the first time I have ever been served a PB Parfait made with nut topping instead of the famous Spanish peanuts we've come to know and love. If, when we ordered, they'd have told us they were out of Spanish peanuts, we would have changed our order OR they could have offered an upgraded substitute like pecans. Both blizzards we got where melted and overflowing and messy. My husband asked them to wipe the sides off and the girl with the colorful braids flipped him off through the window. Blizzard was all vanilla ice cream about halfway down because it was poorly mixed. Not worth the 15 minute wait in the long drive through line. Dairy Queen is Dairy Queen... restaurant chain. The problem I have with this DQ is the lack of anyone over the age of 21 that works there, so the quality of the food seems to really suffer; and, when did a small Blizzard start costing almost $4? I could see paying maybe $2.50 for this since it is ice-cream and a scoop of candy, but $4 is too much for what you are getting. You know what you are going to get as far as DQ goes, but their prices are WAY too high and the inmates seem to be running the asylum. read more

I know sound funny but... ok so my ice tea tasted funny and I asked if it was sweetened with sugar or a syrup. I was told they did not know because it came in a bag (no brewed in house). I went to Dairy Queen last night 6/30/16. I placed my order for 3 hot fudge sundaes for the family.. When the drive through attendant handed m one of the sundaes it only had hot fudge on it. I asked the girl if she forgot the whip cream nuts and cherry. She said no that the only thing sundaes came with was the topping. I said to her since when? She says that's the way it's always been. And that those items cost extra to the amount of 2 more dollars.!! I asked speak to the manager and the girl comes to the window and says what is the problem and I proceeded to ask her why there is only hot fudge and ice cream and she says well that's the way it's been and there's nothing we can do about it you can either take this or not. The ice cream here is standard fare for Dairy Queen. It's always a good treat on a hot summer day or just a random day. The thing that makes this place just "ok" versus "good" is the service. Wish the staff that worked here was a little more friendly and sometimes the drive through gets back up due to slower service. This place gets busier, naturally, as the weather gets warmer and so finding a parking space or getting in line at the drive through can get tough. read more

The employees are extremely pleasant and accommodating . The restaurant never runs out of chocolate ice cream like the one at cottonwood mall. Thie store on a Southern is always well staffed. I know it's fast food, I'm not expecting extravagance on any level, but some manners and a couple smiles would sure make this a better establishment.
