Went tonight after we'd noticed awhile back they were closed. Food was absolutely as wonderful as ever. The sunrise burger is still one of hubby's favorites in the city, and the fries are incredible. I tried the High Point Mac & cheese (green chile mac w/steak sliced on top) and yowza. So much flavor, and the steak was perfectly tender. The restaurant has food nailed. And our server was amazing. Unfortunately, th manager did a poor job estimating how busy they'd be on a Friday night, so the two servers were running ragged. The manager pitched in, but they were playing catch up with the silverware and we had to wait for it when the food arrived. Which, no biggie, but it was a fork when I had steak and my husband had a messy burger. So we right away asked for knives. I pointed out my steak, and the manager got snarky with us like she got it. But then she brought us butter knives. When I got up and went to the bar to ask for a steak knife, her attitude was even faker. I don't abide fake when someone's eyes and mouth clearly say they think you're stupid or annoying or both. As a manager, you learn how to school your face and keep people happy or you don't last in management long. Also, if she miscalculated staffing, then it should have been her job to get into the bathrooms and keep them presentable. They weren't. Paper everywhere, and the walls need some serious touch ups. It's hard for people to trust the food safety if the job-food public areas aren't kept clean and well-maintained, you know? We'll be back because the food IS awesome and we always have an enjoyable meal. But they definitely need to turn an eye toward building upkeep and service. read more

The area was pretty dark and mostly empty, so since I was dining alone, I moved to the bar instead. The waitress suggested starting with an appetizer, and I went with the Pesto Burrata ($13). After that, my eyes immediately landed on the wings and the mac & cheese, so I ordered the Game Day Combo -- 1 lb of wings with the original mac & cheese, plus fries, veggie sticks, and ranch. I asked the chef which sauce he recommended, and he suggested the honey sriracha. At $26, I was expecting excellence. Overall, the portions felt excessive. I'd much rather see smaller portions at a lower price -- less food with a stronger focus on quality and value. That said, the burrata dish was on point: quality ingredients, simply executed. There was a bit too much flatbread, but otherwise the portion was spot-on. As for the wings, everything tasted good, but the plate felt overloaded. When you already have a large serving of mac & cheese with wings, the fries feel unnecessary. The dish would have been stronger with no fries, less mac & cheese, and a lower price point -- something closer to $18. At $26, it just feels a bit high for what it is. 4.5 stars Came here during their closing weekend, as I had always wanted to try this place for the "best mac n'cheese" in town. The location is in an interesting spot and parking was a little tight. I liked the ambiance of the place and open kitchen concept. Staff was helpful and I had placed an order to go that night (which took a little while). I got the regular mac n'cheese ($8.95 and figuring I could save a little bit and add extra toppings of my own later). I also got the pumpkin cobble cake ($14.95), which wasn't quite like I had seen with last year's (with the biscochito crust and the red chile whipped cream). Everything came out hot and delicious. The cake came with a side of ice cream with granola on top. The mac n'cheese while creamy and gooey (and enough for about 3 lunches), I would say it was good, but probably not my #1 choice in town. We got there and parking is a bit cramped due to the location, but we were still able to find an open spot. Going inside it is much larger than it looks from the outside. We were sat quickly. And our waitress came over to check on us and take our orders right away. She was very friendly and quick to come when she saw we were ready, but not overly attentive to make us feel rushed. We ordered wings to share, which were the best wings I've had! They were crisp, but not greasy. They were not overly seasoned but a good balance. They were a great size. And man they were delicious! Had also heard amazing things about their burgers. We also ordered a sunrise burger to share and it also was delicious. The meat was fresh and quality tasting. The patty was thick and well seasoned. Waited 30 minutes to get a table and 45 minutes after ordering for them to bring out two Mac and cheeses and a Sunshine (breakfast) burger. Burger came with the egg on it not fult cooked (egg white covering the top still raw/liquid), had it sent back. Fried were very soggy and the Mac and cheese was bland, to the point that it just tasted plain. After the burger came back, it overall wasn't terrible, but the meat wasn't seasoned. I asked our waitress for ketchup three times over a span of 20 minutes before I just got up and decided to get it myself. Wife used the restroom and told me that the restroom was gross too. Only saving grace was that the desert - the apple crumble cake - was pretty good. I am so bummed out. This place used to be our go-to for burgers but after our experience this evening we won't be coming back. The first thing that really threw me off right away was someone (I believe he said he was the GM? Jared maybe?) Standing at the counter digging his jeans out of his crotch multiple times before grabbing peoples' plates to serve them. At another point he was scratching and picking at his neck and then grabbed more plates to serve. Additionally, this same person was making gay jokes later on in the evening and that really was it for me. Bad vibes all around. Not to mention, they changed their burgers!! Instead of the thick juicy burgers they used to serve, they are now dry and flavorless with hardly enough sauce and a burnt bun. Also, the fries were undercooked and a little soggy. The service was a little slow but our server was really nice. The food took a really long time to come out and our appetizer and burgers all came out at the same time after we waited about 45 minutes. They served my partner the wrong burger, but because the food took so long to come out we just kept it and ate it. The folks at the table next to us were super annoyed because they took forever to bring out their to-go burger. Clearly the new crew running this place have made some changes and unfortunately it seems to be for the worse. Now I need to find another favorite burger spot. read more

In Albuquerque and I was encouaged by friends to try High Point Grill for lunch. The reviews stated it was good Italian, Cajun / Creole and sandwiches. We ordered the shrimp po-boy sandwich and carne asada tacos with chips and salsa. The restaurant was fairly busy for the lunch crowd. The shrimp po-boys was packed with little room for all the ingredients and five jumbo shrimp. I would have to say it resembled more of a de- constructed sandwich than a traditional sandwich that was "dressed". It definitely could of used more sauce as it was very dry. The carne asada tacos were good but the stale chips were disappointing. The wait staff was missing in action after the meals were delivered and took 20 minutes to get us the check after she was given the credit card. I will not be returning as I found no effort to make the meal memorable. The food was adequate andservice was poor. High Point needs to focus on their food, service and taking care of the patrons that frequent their establishment. read more

I will say it took us a while to find this location because of the way it's tucked in. It was absolutely pouring rain and the parking is not that easy.. I would do it again pouring rain and all! My burger was absolutely the best I've had in two decades ! Absolutely cooked to perfection! My son had the wings and was absolutely thrilled with his choice ! I've read ALLLLLLL the reviews for this joint and am pleased to report we hit it on a very, very good day. This isn't haute cuisine, but it is comfort/casual food at its best. Reviewing the menu, they offer burgers and sandwiches, pizzas, a whole section on Mac and Cheese and apps (we had chips/salsa and my husband had the nachos for lunch). I ventured into the pizza arena and thoroughly enjoyed the barbecue pizza. In fact, I might even say it's been my favorite pizza in Albuquerque. The crust is thin enough to let the toppings be the star, but it's firm enough not to buckle under the weight of all the goodness on top. Everything was delicious, served piping hot and fresh. The chips are a lot like the Chili's chips, thin and salty, and the salsa had a good helping of garlic and not tooooo much heat. Alternatively, both the nachos and the pizza packed some serious heat, the pizza from sliced fresh jalapeños and the nachos from green chile in the queso and jalapeños on top. My eyes were watering before too long, in the best possible way. My husband loved his nachos (although he said he'd add beans as well as the chicken he ordered next time) and as I already said, I loved the pizza. We even contemplated dessert, but since we already had take-home we decided against it. There was an apple pie/cobbler option that looked pretty good! I'm not sure why people were complaining about pricing. The pizza was $14 and it was easily enough for 2, and the nachos were less than that and also easily enough for 2. Our entire table with sodas (they have Coke Zero!) and the appetizer was $40. I consider that middle of the pack pricing. Service was where this visit shone. From the "welcome friends" mere seconds after we walked in to the multiple soda refills to the guidance on what to order, everyone here was friendly and attentive and we loved the entire visit. The last time I went there, I think was 2025I was told that the chef that was there left Mike was still there, but they had somebody new in the kitchen I ordered the same thing. I hesitate to leave such a bad review, as the staff were clearly trying their best. We waited a while for a table, but understandable. We were seated, and though the wait to put in a drink order was a little longer than normal, again, we figured they were busy. We ordered two beers and some water, and waited again for a bit. One of the beers was out of stock, so waited some more for a replacement. (Our server was lovely and friendly, though. Got the feeling they were understaffed.) By now we were quite hungry, and figured dinner might take a while, so we ordered the "trio" appetizer. When it came...yuck. Salsa was plainly from a jar and absolutely flavorless. Guac was likewise obviously Costco, though not terrible, just bland. Chips were flavorless and so thin they didn't really hold up to even the salsa without crumbling. And the queso--YUCK. Tasted like old flour and nothing else. How is it possible to make queso this gross? We were "impressed." We called our server over to send it back. She was super understanding, and asked if we would give the kitchen a chance to make it right. We couldn't imagine how they could make it right without absolutely everything being completely different, but we still had beer, so we said sure. Great food but they don't seem to want anyone to know it. They don't participate on DoorDash or any other delivery apps. They don't have online ordering. If we want a to go order, we have to call repeatedly until we don't get a busy signal. And you have to already know the menu, because they don't have it posted online anywhere. Now they are closed on Monday and Tuesday, only open for dinner during the week and closed at 4pm on Sunday. Their burgers are huge, amazingly tasty and messy! Their mac and cheese is to die for! Ambience is nice. Service is great! Good luck catching them when they are open or getting a to go order from them! But it is worth the extra work!
