Oh. My. GOD. My girlfriend and I were so ready to have our nice little ice cream after our dinner date and we were met with rude employees who rudely said that it was closed. All of the doors were unlocked and there were people seated in the restaurant, and there were people waiting on their orders. There were multiple people at the register and working behind the register and they claimed to close at 10 PM and it was currently 845 when we walked in. We think this is just them being homophobic towards me and my girlfriend. 0/10 experience. We will not be coming back. So why I believe they're being homophobic is because we were holding hands and I gave my partner a little cheek kiss. Went here after grocery shopping because I really wanted a treat. I had not been to a DQ in 5 years. I got a blizzard. Love that they do roundup and help a local charity. It wasn't busy but still took a bit to get my item. I don't know what goes into it so 5 minutes is fine, just seems long while idling in a car. It was bland. Peanut butter. Bland. I don't know what flavor explosion I was expecting but this was underwhelming. Not bad, just not worth the calories as it didn't hit the spot. So many people I know love blizzards, maybe you need to be an expert and create your own flavor combos. Probably won't go back soon, but wouldn't say others shouldn't go. Quick semi-friendly service most of the time. I've never been inside the building, only through the drive thru. Most of the time it's a quick order/pick up process but a few times I've been stuck waiting for them to "clean" the blizzard machines and that takes what feels like forever. The blizzards are always good, haven't had a problem with any of my orders here. read more

Last week I had a pickup at Dairy Queen, why I went in and saw the woman packing up my order I noticed she was just putting 2 cups of soda in a flimsy plastic bag and sealing it up, leaving the sodas to fall over and spill. I asked the woman if I could have a drink tray, since every other place I go provides one without asking if you have 2 or more drinks, she looked confused and then a younger girl came over and quite rudely said "that's how we do it here" and I replied, many drinks must spill, and she came back even more rudely and said "no they don't, we have a lot of Door Dashes here" and ten I replied I can't believe they don't make a mess, she then told me I don't have to come back to Dairy Queen, I then took my order and as I was walking out she said Hey and gave me the finger, when I called her out she said she was just waving, I asked to speak to a manager and she said she was the manager, I then asked to speak to the owner and I was told he wasn't there, I left and later that day I called the store and asked to speak to the owner, I was placed on hold and the same nasty "Mansager" got on the phone and said the owner doesn't work in that store so I said, I will try the other store and hung up. A couple of minutes later my phone rang, I picked it up and it was that nasty manager again telling me she called Door Dash and has had me banned from the store, I was very happy I don't have to go back there, but seriously, she got me banned for asking for a drink tray. I filed a couple of complaints on the website and got responses back from the corporate office saying that the franchise owner would follow up, more than a week later and no response back from the owner, now I see why this place was closed down a while back, just nasty people all around there. I forgot to mention the several private number calls I got right after I filed the complaint, they continue until I said I was going to the police and sending them to Dairy Queen, that girl is crazy.-- feeling annoyed. read more

I open carry. A few weeks ago, the manager of this particular DQ asked me, "Is there any way I can ask you not to bring your gun into the restaurant?" I asked him, "Why?" He said, "for the safety of everyone here." Me: "But the gun is in the holster." Manager: "Yeah, but it can come out of the holster." Me: "How?" That was the extent of it. He didn't have an answer for that. Today, some other employee of this particular DQ ran after me when I had left the place, and we had a somewhat heated discussion about me having been warned already and that "this is your last warning" not to bring your gun into the establishment. I tried to argue NH state preemption, but it was fruitless. So, all legal gun owners, constitutional carriers, avoid this shithole like the plague. (Oh, and I do Doordash, I go in for ten seconds, grab the delivery and leave. I would never put anything DQ makes into my body, that shit's vile. And now, I'm banned from this DQ as a Dasher, which probably doesn't hinder my business too badly, and it's probably also good for other people as there's one less Dasher delivering them the horrendous shit DQ sells.) (And, the manager of this DQ needs to understand that I'm probably the safest person at this shithole when I'm there. An open carrier is the epitome of safety, because his weapon is out in the open and hence his intentions are made clear. No criminal would ever open carry, they would have their weapon concealed. The manager's argument, "but it can come out of the holster" is idiotic. How is it going to come out of the holster? I don't take it out. I've been there many times and never had a situation that would've warranted it. Who's going to take it? His own employees? That's what he's afraid of? Maybe choose your employees better. Also, try to take my gun from me. I dare you. I double-dare you.) So, all legal gun owners, constitutional carriers, I emphasize again, avoid this shithole like the plague. A legal note. On private property (including stores, theaters, restaurants, etc.), the property owner can set a "no guns" policy. In NH a "No Firearms" sign posted on private property does not carry the weight of law but they can ask you to leave if you're carrying, and have you arrested for trespassing if you don't leave. You will not have violated NH law related to carrying a firearm but you will be violating their company policy and NH trespassing statutes if you don't leave when you are asked. So, according to the NH law, I could still go there, and leave when asked. But that's all they can do. And, so far, they never asked me to "leave." They've only asked me if they can ask me not to bring my gun into their shithole. And then they've given me a "final warning." What a joke. read more

My fiancé and I went there yesterday, we walked inside, we then immediately got attitude from a girl working there. She said "dining room is closed if you would look at the door." we looked at the door as we walked out, there wasn't a sign at all. I worked at a different dairy queen before and i know you do not treat your customers like that. it was very ignorant. We were going to go through the drive through but i was so upset with her attitude that it wasn't even worth it. It's 7:30pm on a Tuesday night. My girlfriend and I head to DQ in Somersworth with my foot on the gas excited for ice cream. As we get to the drive thru, the line is exceptionally long. That's okay though, it's the middle of COVID and people need their ice cream. We decide to download the DQ app to beat the line but there is no option to add "twist" ice cream for a Blizzard. Now were forced to sit in line for another 20 mins only to get to the window to have 1 blizzard completely melted and 1 blizzard completely wrong. She didn't even flip one of the blizzards upside down. Now I'm forced to flip the blizzard to entertain my girlfriend (she loves when they flip them), we're angry her order is wrong and to top it all off, when I asked for napkins the worker said "have a good night". Wtf do you mean have a good night? Give me my napkins. The only positive is I am now a DQ rewards point member and on my way to earning a free blizzard. I went into the Somersworth Dairy Queen and waited in line for service with two other customers. An employee told us that someone would be right out to take our orders. Then someone with a headset (the manager?) came out ant told us that it was drive through only, no service at the counter. WTF? Open door, no sign on the door, no sign at the counter. She couldn't wrap her head around the idea of taking care of three customers who had been waiting and had been told that their orders would be taken. The level of customer service was a joke. Great DQ, super friendly staff although perhaps a little overworked. I visited on 4 September and requested one of the original Blizzard flavors that is no longer on the menu (Peanut Butter Crunch) after explaining to the young man on the speaker what was in it (Peanut Butter syrup and cake crunch) he agreed to make it for me. It came out amazing, as good as they were back in the day, especially impressive considering he had never heard of the flavor before I came through his drive thru. read more

We wen't last night with our two young children. There was a line of people waiting for their food and a line of people waiting to order. There were employees standing around. Not one employee smiled or seemed happy. They all seemed miserable to be there. We ordered our food and when we finally received it it was cold. The lady that brought it did not give us any of our drinks. We had to ask for them. She came back with 2 of the 3 so I had to ask again for the 3rd drink. The two TV's were on and it was animals hunting other animals. So we watched one animal kill another and then tear it apart. We gave our phones to our kids to watch. We then ordered our ice creams. They brought them over told us one was a vanilla dipped in chocolate. It was a chocolate dipped in chocolate. So a few mins late they bring another ice cream out and say its the chocolate dipped in chocolate. We advise them we had already received the chocolate dipped in chocolate. The lady did offer to go make another one but we had already been there for an hour waiting around for food and eating that we wanted to just get out of there. They forgot one of the ice creams, we had to ask about that one. The trash cans were overflowing with trash, the bathrooms were disgusting and the tables were all dirty. Not one employee cleaned any tables they just walked by them and the trash. I used to really enjoy going here when they first opened but it seems as their standards have really dropped.d read more

For being in its first week open this new DQ is doing very well. I can only speak for the drive thru and the ice cream so far. We have been twice this week and both times there was a line of cars around the building. We probably spent about 15 min in line each time. It moved pretty quickly. We had sundaes each time which were good. They're still working out the kinks. It wasn't quite up the DQ quality that we are used to in Kittery. Little light on the hot fudge too. The service was great both times we went. There are a LOT of employees in this store. But they're learning, and it's easy to see there is a strong camaraderie to deliver good food and service. The food menu looks really good. Your basic burgers and chicken sandwiches, but with some unique twists. There's an outdoor patio here as well. read more

New place, just opened. This place was packed. We passed by on a Saturday night btwn 7-9. I had a cheeses burger, fries & onion rings. The burger was okay, fries were okay, onion rings not so good. All-in-all, it was okay HOWEVER, Apparently they had technical difficulties with their monitors posting the orders for the food preps. Everyone was waiting for their ice cream related orders. Whoever is their IT specialist should have been there to help fix the problem with the monitors. We ordered a chocolate shake, but didn't get it. My wife went up to ask when we would get it and dealt with a very frazzled worker who explained the monitors went down and they were really behind on orders. She told my wife it would be another 20 to 30 minutes. That was way too long for a malt so we ended up getting a refund, didn't want to wait around in the chaos. A little while after my wife's stomach began hurting, and while I never got sick, my wife ended up with severe symptoms of food poisoning all night. My guess is that our burger came out so fast because it was already cooked and laying around or wasn't cook thoroughly. It's just a guess, but something was wrong. Either way we won't return to this location out of fear that we might get sick again. Hopefully they will fix these issues as time goes on. read more

Went here for lunch and it was freezing inside and the customers all had to keep their coats on. I would have been better off sitting in my car to freeze. The french fries were cold and the "Toast" were soggy pieces of bread. 3 tables near us all had no ketchup in the bottle. The management needs to take notice of these issues. Was there today with my family we were going to buy food for 6 people so we decided to go in . No other customers in the store but at least 15 associates. My party was there and the employees found it better to stand around then to help. The owner happened to be there and even mentioned to his team there was customers at the front counter but they could care less. We waited for five minutes as some associates were helping customers at the drive thru and the rest standing around. We ended up leaving and the owner came out shortly after asking why we left and wanted to make it right. I was not going back in and my family was frustrated and just wanted to leave. The owner had one excuse "grub hub". I clearly told him you have a customer at home and you have a large party here ready to order and your team chose grub hub. If you go inside don't plan on ordering, because it's not going to happen. Only positive about this review is that the owner wanted to make it right by bringing us back inside. But they wasted my time and it wasn't going to happen again. With restaurants closing because of covid you would think customers would be of the highest priority. But not at this place they could care less. read more

This place is terrible! Always a super long wait. The design of the drive thru is stupid AF, as the cars wind around right through the parking area, so people can't get out and you have to allow them through by backing up or making space, which is difficult to do. The customer service is also terrible, as the workers are by and large not polite and don't bother to ask if you need napkins or want a receipt. They act like you are privileged to pay them good money to give you mediocre ice cream after waiting in their drive thru for half an hour. Avoid this place and maybe it will shut down and something good will take its place. read more

I prefer the Dairy Queen in Kittery but since Dairy Queen Somersworth provides the all important and incredibly rare in New England gravy with their chicken tenders they get an okay score from me. My first meal there, the tenders were hot, but dried out. Fries were hot. Toast was cold and old tasting, like it had been sitting out for quite a while. Dessert was a small cone, it was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. So, in essence, come here for the beautiful gravy that goes with your chicken tenders. I just wish they weren't so stingy with that creamy goo. read more

We went twice this week because we were craving blizzards. First night there were only 2 people working and it got so busy after us that they ended up putting a sign on the door closing the lobby early. Of those 2 people working, only one was actually doing the work. She was great and very apologetic but we waited nearly half an hour for 4 ice creams. We stopped again a few nights later and they had a full staff this time but again, crazy busy and slow. Ordered 3 ice creams, only one of which was a blizzard and the other 2 were regular cones. Waited 20 minutes and finally I heard someone yelling out my order. I went to get it and they were kind of rude saying they were about to throw it out. I told her we were given a number and told they'd bring it to us and the woman told me she was too busy to do that today. Which is fine, but let people know rather than threaten to toss their food. Most of the tables were dirty both times we were in, and they got one of our orders wrong last night even though it was literally just an ice cream cone. It was a bummer, I was hoping the first night was just an off night but this seems to be the norm for this location read more

I was very excited to see we'd be getting a Dairy Queen in my area, since I love their ice cream and the closest one to me before this one opened was in either Sanford or Kittery. Unfortunately, it hasn't quite lived up to expectations yet. I've been there three times so far, and I do have to give it credit- things are improving. The first time we went, we ate in the dining room and had lunch. The food was about what you'd expect- not terrible, but nothing to write home about either. I went back to the counter to order our ice cream after we finished eating, and things rapidly started going downhill. They didn't have the cherry dip available, although it was on the menu. I ordered something else for my mom, and then waited. While I waited, I watched every single ice cream order come back because it was either the completely wrong item, or missing ingredients. When I finally received our order, my Blizzard was the completely wrong flavor. I ordered the Royal New York Cheesecake Blizzard, which is clearly specified on the menu as having strawberry filling. What I received was a Blizzard with chocolate sauce and bits of cheesecake stirred in, with no sign of strawberry sauce or strawberries anywhere. It tasted fine, but was not what I ordered, so I was disappointed. The second time I went back, I ordered the same strawberry cheesecake Blizzard. It was closer this time, but was not the "royal" variety which is more expensive, but the old style strawberry cheesecake Blizzard, with strawberries and bits of cheesecake blended into the ice cream. Today I stopped on the way home from work and picked up a sundae and a vanilla cone, and those were fine- but honestly, they'd be pretty hard to mess up. The people working are friendly, but it seems most of them haven't yet been very well trained. Hopefully as time goes on, things will get better, because with so many other places like this in the immediate area, it won't survive otherwise. read more

I think management needs to do some 'secret shopping' here. This place has been open for over a year now, and I try to eat healthy but finally decided to stop by here last night on my way home from shopping. I haven't had a dipped iced cream in years. First off, the cashier walks over to the register, leans on it with his elbow the rests his chin on his hand and ask what we would like. So I ordered a cherry dipped cone and my boyfriend ordered a blizzard. Mine starts to come out first, a CHOCOLATE dipped cone and went to hand it to me. I said that's not cherry dip. (Now mind you it has been 46-60 seconds since I ordered) and he states 'oh you ordered cherry?' So he goes out back to look at the screen, and I take out my receipt. Yes I ordered cherry. So the guy out back starts to make another one. The ice cream actually fell off the cone into the dip. So they are giggling back there. The guys starts to make other one, that one fell into the dip. Now they are really laughing. Then I hear one of the guys ask 'do you still need one?' ( considering you haven't made a correct one yet I would say yes I still need one) so another guy comes over and makes it quickly and correctly the first time and he personally came out and gave it me. He was very nice and professional and I wish I gotten his name because he is the only employee worth keeping at this point. Very disappointing. Sure I get it, who wants to work at an ice cream place at 8pm on a Saturday night? Well guess what, if that's your job, then you do it. Don't make it seem like the customers are a burden to you. I have gone four times in the past two weeks trying to get a dipped cone (2 for 4$) the first time there was a bunch of drunk middle aged women fighting in the parking lot and workers inside but they had parked a car in the drive through and weren't taking orders. This place will be an excellent addition to the area; once the hype dies down. The food is okay here, about what you would expect for a Dairy Queen, where the main attraction is the ice cream, which is the standard selection. The real issue, and what will end up seeing this place go out of business, is the parking and drive through situation. The line for the drive through shares the same space as the lane for finding a parking space, which barely fits two cars side by side. When the line is backed up, it blocks the spaces. So if you're parked, and there's a line, you're stuck unless someone lets you out, which knowing the locale, won't happen quickly. And heaven help you if you try to let someone out, as the person behind you in line will try to pass you and move ahead in a desperate bid to get their corn syrup, sugar laden dairy treats just two minutes faster. If you do get out of your parking spot, there are only two options out, either join the drive through line until you reach the fork in the road just before the ordering booth, or fight the flow of traffic currently sitting in the middle of the road to go back the way you came in, and hope you only scratch the paint on half of the cars in the lot, and that no one is feeling sue happy. The only upside is the strip mall parking only an extra 50 ft away, so you can walk. Final thoughts: The food is average, the ice cream is good. If you see a line of any number of cars waiting, eat somewhere else, because it builds up fast. If you are already parked and eating, and see a line form, go ahead and grab another sundae and a job application, because you live at the Dairy Queen now. read more

Me and my boyfriend came on a Saturday when it was pretty busy. We were willing to wait but all we ordered was 1 medium cone. Everything was chaos, and this establishment was the definition of disorganization even with management supervision (who wasn't helping what so ever). There was a line of 15+ people who were waiting inside for over 20 minutes for ice cream while some employees were doing next to nothing to get orders out to people. We witnessed a man ask the manager to hand him his ice cream (which had been sitting on the counter for 10 minutes melting) and the manager rolled her eyes and handed it to him. He mentioned his order wasn't correct and she sarcastically offered to fix it but he stated he already had been waiting for over 15 minutes. The girl at the cash register stood over the ice cream counter and kept mixing the blizzards while basically putting her face in the ice cream. It was disgusting. She kept asking where other orders were(while there were at least 5 blizzards melting and waiting to be handed out). Instead of taking action she walked away from counter. What really sent us over the edge was in the heat of it all dominos arrived for the DQ employees. I understand they probably ordered it for dinner but was this really something necessary when it was as busy as it was. It was extremely unprofessional and frankly embarrassing. I have been in the hospitality business and I understand when it's busy. I understand how stressful it was. All I saw here was people who clearly don't care about good customer service and clearly didn't know what the hell was going on. Pull your weight and take action instead of standing there and not doing a damn thing. I ended up walking out without my order. I will never go back and I suggest that if you care about quality service you find somewhere else to eat. read more
