I love the nostalgia of the walk up aspect of this specific DQ. This location in particular is run by the most efficient group of young people I've ever encountered. My husband and I decided to stop in one evening because the pizza place we wanted to go to had no parking. Usually the service is pretty slow when we visit any Dairy Queen location but we wanted to stop by this specific one since it was a walk-up and because it was a nice, sunny day. Show up to get my dessert after being out with friends, stand at the window where it says "order here" and a guy inside yells at me "be right there" and I was cool with that because it was an acknowledgment. In side was another person making shakes and blizzards. He is working on an order for someone standing at the pickup at the same time. As I stand there waiting someone else pulls up in a car and stands in line at the pick up line. Then the girl inside helping walks over to the register and i thought she was going to take my order. She touches the screen, looks at me outside and then leaves and goes back to making the blizzards and shakes. This isn't like the best place to get ice cream, but DQ is so consistent and nostalgic I'll never sway on my opinion of this place. It's great bang for your buck, especially if you have little ones. The service is good for fast food, but they are usually so busy. Great attitudes though for being overwhelmed at times. My boys wanted to go somewhere to eat on our walk today and I'd resisted going to this place because of negative reviews. But hearing neither had ever had an American iconic dipped cone in their entire lives swayed me easily. We got a couple of burgers and cones and sat for an absolutely wonderful meal. Everything was perfect from service to food. Their tables are on a street with an active downtown population including the homeless, so maybe eat in your car if you're squeamish. I came to pick up a DoorDash order and the people working there are very rude. I am the only customer there at the time. It is a blonde with glasses and a brunette wearing vans. The order had a milkshake and a soda pop and the brunette was putting into a brown paper bag without a cup holder. I asked her if she can not put it in a bag because it'll just spill and she gives me an ugly look. She turns away rips the bag open and everyone working there is laughing now and waving at me. I am not sure what that was all about but I just asked not to put soda into a freaking paper bag because it will spill. I usually don't leave reviews but she's a real asshole. Used to love this Dairy Queen. The last three times clerks are rude and food has been horrible. My husband went there a couple days ago - the last time either of us will ever go! The "manager" was the person at the register. She took our order, mumbling instead of talking so he could barely hear. How can you mess up two orders of #1 - one with onion rings. Somehow the order cost $19.00. When he got the order the fries were missing and one soda was larger then the other. When he asked she stated he upgraded one. He had no idea he did. Why would he upgrade one and not the other? When he asked for his receipt he was told it was already given to him (wasn't). He asked how much the upgrade was, he was directed to a sign on the cashiers window -- which is hidden when opened to serve a customer. She admitted not only that she probably forgot to give him his receipt but she didn't even remember asking if he wanted to upgrade. Not only that but because he got upset, she called 911 and refused to give him the missing fries. She is an extremely bad example of a store manager. Watch out - you may be next!! read more

After the 15 minutes in line we finally got up to the windiw to order and apperantly they don't have frappés, Mistys, etc. Finally, after another 10 minutes we got our blizzards (they were not tipped upside down as promoted) and a melted crushed up Star Popsicle. Just went Dairy queen hoping to get a turtle pecan cluster blizzard and to my surprise they were closed with all of the lights on looking as if it was open. No closing sign and when we went to get so ice cream the mean lady was like WERE CLOSED!!! I realized I was on my own at that point and found a cheeseburger basket with lettuce and tomato on the menu board and ordered it without the cheese. It was around $8.50 after tax. After I paid and stepped around to the window to wait the 15 minutes to get my meal, I saw an advertisement for a 5 dollar lunch meal that includes a hamburger or cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, fries, drink and a sundae. I normally don't leave 1 star reviews but we really didn't have a good experience tonight. First off they weren't very busy but they had 4 employees on and for whatever reason they had the same kid ringing people up and making the orders so the orders took awhile. Secondly and the worst part, I ordered a fruit smoothie and watched the young gentleman go from handling cash without washing his hands to cutting fresh fruit with no gloves on. When I brought this to his attention he confidently reminding me that they never use gloves there, but he made sure only the knife touched the fruit.. uh.. major health code violation and I'm not sure I'll be able to go back to that Diary Queen again if they're taught to "never use gloves". read more

The food here has been going steadily downhill in the past couple of years. I just now got a crispy chicken salad, which used to be good, and it is the worst and cheapest food item I've ever gotten from them. It used to have cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and a good amount of chicken. What I have in front of me right now has barely a full serving of iceberg lettuce, a couple of pieces of onion, and such a small amount of chicken that it might as well not be there at all. The chicken was obviously just one old chicken finger that they were about to throw away (and should have). My french fries were also old and should have been thrown out with the chicken. Well, I read many of the 1, 2, and 3 star reviews and I have to say, they need to revisit the Dairy Queen on Main Street because I received great service and a speedy order, had my food in 5 minutes and they had a good crowd. The food was great and I would go back anytime. Also, because I didn't have cash on me I called ahead of time to see what other forms of payment they accept and the girl on the phone was very professional and courteous. This is the classic, old-school, "walk up and order at the window" Dairy Queen. It's miserable when it's cold and rainy, and it seems windy on any day (hot or cold) but it's still a lot of fun to come to. It's great for a "getting to know you" date, or a "snuggle with your loved one in the car" kind of date, or for dragging a pile of kids out for ice cream and giving them a spot to go run around for a few minutes. You could even get your meal and stretch your legs through the picturesque neighborhood on a warm day. The food is good, there are actual picnic tables underneath actual trees that you can enjoy on a rare warm day.
