Well it's Dairy Queen & let's face it we all know DQ. As for this location. They get a lot of traffic, especially on weekends as people stop in for a quick break, coming or going to/fm Virginia Beach - or OBX. However, I've never waited too long in line here. Staff have always been friendly. As food goes - again it DQ, we all love Blizzards. Now for the location/facility. It's a bit older and shows. Some wear and tear. But I've always found this location clean and picked up by the staff. The restrooms get a lot of traffic here and kinda get a mess. But with staff running around getting the food out, not sure they have the staff to put more attention here. I guess in a perfect world, they would. This is probably your best quick rest stop between Suffolk and Petersburg. read more

We stopped in on the way to Portsmouth to get some take out chicken strips. They were freshly made and delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant and restrooms were clean, and had a pleasantly clean smell where as I would normally expect a fast food place to have a fried food smell. I travel 460 often & most of the time when I do, I stop here. I got a chicken strip kids meal with onion rings & a mini blizzard for my kiddo. They take 50 cents off the blizzard when getting a kids meal or you can get a cone. Parking is plentiful. There are gas stations galore nearby. The cops hide in that parking lot btw, so don't speed by or else. :) My food is almost always fresh. I recommend them if you're hungry or in need of a quick treat. read more

Love a great DQ and better yet a full service Grill & Chill store. This was an unexpected stop going out of town and a great one too! The location in the tiny town of Windsor, Va off highway 460 and it's a slammed DQ all day and offers late night dining with drive-thru. A large parking lot was clean and can accommodate RV, large truck parking. The walk up to the door tidy. In front of the counter clean and service immediate by a smiling employee. My observation was that all the staff was friendly and hustling about behind the counter. My order a #3 single patty burger combo with strawberry shake. My son a chicken strip basket with a cookie dough Blizzard. The bill around $20 w/ tax and no issues processing my card. There is no tipping. The dining room area was comprised of booths and tables and had a sun room. There were some customers, but overall not busy on a Wednesday around 430 PM. The drive thru steady. Everything was immaculate! Even on a 100° day an employee was outside wiping down tables in a small outdoor patio...just WOW! I then saw same employee wiping down tables inside. Drink order was called out, just before a young female staff carried a tray to the table and called our receipt number. Oh and if they forget to flip your Blizzard it's FREE! Of course they did flip it because the staff rocks! My burger was prepared correctly, hot and tasty. Fries seasoned just right and hot. My son reported the chicken fingers and fries were good. His small Blizzard was gone in a flash so I guess it was yummy. My Strawberry shake made with real strawberries delicious and as usual a bit tricky through a thin straw. They did put whip cream on it, I asked for none. Not a big deal. This is almost as good as fast food can get in my opinion. Service was top notch, cleanliness was fantastic and the bites and drinks tasty. Congratulations to the staff and management. It appears this visit is no fluke with a composite of 4 stars. Staff was very nice and friendly, really enjoyed interacting with them. Food is standard American mid-chain fast food, so don't expect gourmet selections but DQ will satiate your hunger. We didn't get any milkshakes at this location, though. Not very busy when we stopped by on Labor Day weekend. The worst thing about this spot was the bathrooms and flies. Bathrooms were disgusting. We tried to sit outside but flies were everywhere and would not leave us alone. Otherwise, very enjoyable but would be much better with clean bathrooms and some kind of solution to outdoor flies in the seating area. :) read more

This is a great Dairy Queen- when they get your order correct. If you order something plain or with/without extra condiments make sure to check it before you leave because there's a 9/10 chance they messed it up. I order plain burgers and they always come fully loaded. Other than that- it's nice! Windsor is a small town and the DQ definitely has a small town feel to it. I do love that they have Coke Freestyle machines. There is indoor and outdoor seating. When you order inside you take a number and they bring your food to you. You have the option to get your ice cream or blizzard after your meal is complete with your receipt instead of having it melt beside you like some other DQs and places with ice cream. I do wish the tenders were bigger but it's not the particular restaurant's fault... the entire DQ company has suppliers that give out teeny tiny tenders where years ago they were HUGE! The bathrooms have been clean every time I've been. Just know that this place gets slammed after school and before/after football games. It's the only real place in town for locals to eat and there are more of them than you may think! read more

I suppose that's all the little town of Windsor is for, given its location where U.S. Route 460 intersects with U.S. Route 258. Yeah, go ahead and grab a quick bite to eat if you're just passing by. But if you actually live here and this is one of the best restaurants in your area, then sorry, but you have it rough. I got a sausage burrito ($2.69), a ham & egg sandwich ($3.19), and a small 177-milliliter cup of orange juice ($1.89). Everything was good, the food seemed plentiful, and service was fast. That doesn't mean I would come here to eat all the time or even again. It was too early when I was there for them to have actual burgers; they don't start serving those menu items until around 10 AM or so. Though we know these days Drive thru is one of the only options for us consumers, DQ seems to be doing pretty amazing at working us through the lines efficiently. The ordering process was easy enough, and the wait time was minimal. The staff member ringing us up was very friendly, and did a great job of getting us through the line and back on our way quickly. read more

This is a Grill & Chill. It's a nice break East or West along 460. Something to look forward to stopping along a road that needs to be divided. They do the Ice Cream & Blizzards right here! Not everyone in 757 does these days so it's good to see these guys take care of the folks. The food is Dairy Queen Fast Food. It's solid. The BBQ is my top choice but not my #1 BBQ. Dairy Queen is Ice Cream First but food works just fine on the road. Remodeled Bathrooms are much improved from a few years ago, and could still use some extra cleaning. They are clean just need a little touch up. A little hard to get in and out for special needs but it is accessible. Just know you will need a little more effort. The staff is friendly and pretty fast. It stays pretty busy. read more

This location almost always messes up my burger order, so I decided to get the most basic burger where I would not have to ask for any changes to it to keep is super simple. I watch the manager check the order through the drive through window so I felt confident the order would be correct since it was the easiest order possible. Of course, when I get home I find out that the burger was nowhere near what I had ordered, but would not have been able to know this at the window unless I completely unwrapped it. This time I went back to get my refund and the manager blamed it on the kitchen because it was busy there. So not only can the kitchen not get the simplest of orders correct, but the manager will then blame them for the mistake when I clearly saw him perform a QC. read more

This is not your typical Dairy Queen. As a long-time resident of Windsor, I must say that this Dairy Queen has, for the longest time, always been a pleasure to eat at. They really try to create a restaurant atmosphere (something that the local area lacks). They also have music and other interesting events going on every once in awhile. The employees are very nice and respectful. They always get the orders correct, and the service is always quick, even when things are busy. And the food is what you expect from a Dairy Queen. Out of breakfast food at 10:20. Asked for gravy with a leftover hashbrown and didn't get it. Ordered a bbq sandwich with no slaw and there was more slaw than bbq. Worst way to start a morning. -Feedback from DQ has made me want to try this location again. read more

Extremely Unsatisfied Never Going Back. We stopped for a quick bite and I have never really had Dairy Queen's food before but I've had their ice cream. First our two meals put together was an outrageous price. I went to go get some sweet tea and it smelt like rotten eggs. At this point I was disgusted and unhappy. I waited for my food and to see there was gravy instead of ranch on the side, they forgot our barbecue sauce and there wasn't much fries AT ALL. Needless to say McDonalds could do better. read more
