However, the kids pointed out that rules are rules so we gave it a shot. So glad we did!!! Customer service was EXCELLENT TONIGHT 4/3 at approx 830p. There were 4 employees and the team work was excellent. Ice cream was perfect and the young lady who took our order went above and beyond to try to help my daughter who couldn't have ice cream due to a recent lactose intolerance discovery. This DQ doesn't really seem like an authentic restaurant, maybe cuz it's not a standalone fast food building. But it has all the necessary equipment and menu items. I ordered the Blizzard of the month, which had M&Ms, peanut butter, choco chips, and cookie pieces. It was made quickly, and tasted alright. I felt the ice cream itself tasted a bit different than I imagined, but I'm comparing it to the McDonalds soft serve and it's not the same as that. It has a thicker consistency, and not as sweet. But there's a large menu of dessert items so it's your choice. read more

Only giving this place one start because of the girl that helped me when I made my order the first time. She was super nice and answered all of my questions. I wish I could remember her name of had been given my receipt when I picked up my order. The day of pick up which is today, I stood in their lobby for about five minutes while listening to their conversation before they even came outside to acknowledge they had customers. My cake wasn't ready when I asked for it, I had been told it was ready at 9am. They used the wrong color in the writing and she walked away when I asked about it. Her excuse was "that's the closest color we have"(You can make a color by combining other colors but maybe she doesn't know that)then she just walked away. My family & I stopped by here to grab ice cream before heading to the Santee Lake. I cannot begin to tell you the kind of horrible customer service we received. As my aunt & I were ordering we were asking and answering our own questions as the cashier gave us nothing, but attitude. There was not ONE response when we asked for something or even said thank you. Nothing, but blank stares and attitude. There was both a brunette and blonde working I was so flustered to get out of there I didn't bother looking for a name tag. I thought to myself after paying whatever maybe they're both having bad days. I tipped regardless of the service I was getting hopeful for a better response. After we received our ice creams I realized one the sundaes wasn't topped off with chocolate fudge, so I politely went to the counter even after dealing with both of the employees attitudes and asked for one pump of chocolate fudge - the blonde grabbed the tray, pumped chocolate and threw it back on the counter aggressively without saying a word. I wish I would've grabbed the tip I threw in the jar because they didn't even deserve the smallest amount. If you're unhappy with your place of work- leave? Took my mom here for Mother's Day. Firstly, the customer service wasn't great by any means... My mom got a smoothie and I got an Orange Julius. I've gotten a good amount of Orange Julius's throughout my life and usually love them. This however was by far the worst one I've ever had. It was so overpoweringly sweet, it tasted like I was drinking straight syrup. Two other people tried it agreed it was unbearably sweet. I had to go back in and purchase something else because there's no way I was drinking the other one. I ended up having to throw it away. My family and I came here for the first time yesterday. We beat the crowds thank goodness and I noticed the place could have been cooler inside than it was. Made our ice creams melt practically. Things are a bit pricey here but not like Cold Stone Creamery that is for sure. I got a sundae in a plain waffle bowl with chocolate syrup and strawberry syrup (extra syrup) and nuts and whipped cream. They charge extra for nuts and whipped cream which surprised me. I thought sundaes always come with nuts and whipped cream? My significant other's sundae was hot fudge and it melted his ice cream pretty fast. They needed to give him also a little more ice cream since they were skimpy on that. My sundae was perfect, so good. My mom got a chocolate malt and it was extra malty which I like. (All your parents out there share our joy over this impromptu date, I'm sure.) I'm all for a good dipped cone or blizzard, so when I saw there was a Dairy Queen in Santee (we are new to Santee) I was kinda stoked.... Sadly when we got there I was far from thrilled. First of all the shopping center feels kind of deserted... But let's face it, that's not their fault... But the inside looks like it hadn't been updated, ever! All of the aesthetic issues aside, the service was horrible ( young girls who where far more interested in their conversation with one another than providing even decent customer service), and the ice cream was so so. What's creamy and is served upside down? A delicious ice cold fancy McFlurry---I mean---Blizzard! On all of these excessively hot days it's nice to break away and get an enjoyable nostalgic treat. With the different options, it definitely beats McDonalds ice cream. Dairy Queen is known for their Blizzards and this place does a good job with keeping their seasonal menus up-to-date. I saw for fall they have a salted caramel flavor and some type of pumpkin flavor. I usually stick to my normal candy flavors I can't say anything bad about the service, but I can't say anyone is good about it either. The workers at this location do their job, and that's about it. They aren't exceedingly friendly. But they aren't unfriendly. It's meh. read more

The summer heat has come to Santee, where we stopped for an ice cream cone dipped in Cherry flavor. There are no public restrooms inside and the temperature was warmer inside than the outdoor heat. The young girl was obviously learning her new job. I had to tell her to make me another cone after I watched her take cash during the transaction, not wash her hands, proceed to touch the lip of my cone with those hands and then serve it to me. On 4th of July I really wanted something cold and sweet and being that it was a major holiday I decided to call ahead to make sure they were open and how late they would be opened. It was around 7pm and the girl told me they would be opened until 8pm. My husband and I got dressed and got the orders of other family members. By the time we got there it was 730. It looked like the lights may have been dimmed and there were people cleaning up. We naturally figured that they were just getting a head start on their nightly closing duties so we got out of the car and headed for the door. October 28, 2015 I would rather give this place no stars! Worst customer service I have encountered by far! Went in and purchased 3 medium blizzards pb cup, brownie bits and salted caramel, all with cheesecake bits. After the girl gave us our blizzards and tried to remember which was which, my 14 yr old and I went to the car to leave. My daughter wanted hers then, so we opened them up to find her brownie bits. All 3 looked the same (very over mixed with little chunks) so I mixed it up to see if I could figure it out better. When I went inside to notify the girl (not even 1 minutes later) that 2 were not made correctly (missing salted caramel bits and the pb cups was not even a full cup. The other girl (not the one that made the blizzards) proceeded to tell me she could remake them correctly but could only remake the pb cup as a small since I ate it already! At no time did I eat any of it but a flake to determine which was which! The original girl that made them would not even look over to say anything when I told them I JUST walked out and that is how it was made. Lydia told me that her and the other girl have worked there for a long time and she trust that they were made correctly and full and that I obviously ate some. So after paying for 3 mediums, I walked out with 2 mediums and a small, insulted for supposedly trying to steal more ice cream and being belittled by Lydia. Clean and friendly. The ice cream wasn't very good...but then again it is dairy queen, so it's about as expected. There wasn't a banana in our banana split - they forgot it and we had to ask for it!
