I've always worked out next to this DQ and have had envy of all the treats coming in and out of this spot. I finally gave in one night and got a classic Chocolate blizzard with cookie dough. They still do the "melt" test for you and tip it upside down which is cute. The servers were really nice but the blizzard itself was not that good. It melted really quickly and just had a chocolate syrup taste - not the authentic chocolate flavor you usually get at DQ. I probably won't be returning. read more

Most of the counter staff are friendly and willing to customize a Blizzard order. Soft serve treats are reliably good. They don't skimp on hot fudge, and the twist (chocolate and vanilla) is usually working. If you use their app, you can work your way up to free treats. Got a mini Blizzard last time I was in. Been here twice and walked out before ordering because of sanitary concerns. First time - Big dude with a red beard was eating behind the wall down the hallway and didn't wash his hands. I have literally never came to this location and had a good experience. Tonight was probably the worst, and absolutely the last. This is not the usual location I go to and the difference in product quality is exponentially large. The service was eh.. but my issue was with the ice cream. All I got was vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. The flavor was truly awful. It tasted so old, the color was off, and the texture too. It melted almost immediately. They are super cheap with toppings. You really can't mess up ice cream or can you. This used to be my favorite spot, but the quality and qty are declining. We went in and paid for a few blizzards. They gave them to us about 3 fingers from the top of the cup. When you're paying $7 for a blizzard fill it up or I'll go to Vons and make my own. It's like going to the gas station paying for 10 gallons of gas but only getting 7 gallons. The mark up is enough to where they need to fill it up. They used to go above the cup so to go 3 fingers short is dropping on service and quality. Businesses used to follow the rule of taking care of customers like the bakers dozen rule, but now they push it to the shortest possible. A DQ treat after a long week is always a nice treat. This place seems to always be bustling. I enjoyed my Oreo and heath bar blizzard. My friends had a chocolate dip and a Sunday. This place is a pigsty. The tables don't get cleaned by the staff. People were cleaning their own tables. The counter they put your ice cream on hadn't been wiped what seemed like since they opened. There was melted ice cream and crumbs. The fabric on the back of the chairs are very dirty. Service, well, no one ahead of us, and it took awhile to even be acknowledged. Three people behind the counter and not one of them greeted us. Same thing happened last week. They were more interested in their conversation than taking my order. One of the doors was locked and people kept trying to use it. No sign that it was broke or to use the other door. Was this laziness to not unlock it? The ice cream was good though. read more

This is a nice clean looking location. It has potential. The issue is horrible customer service people come in the place but usually leave without ordering because of poor service. Today when I went one family was in the place and waiting on the order they place. I walked in and was ignored. A simple hello, we will be with you in a five minutes. I've lived in Santee since I was 10. I'm 30 now. I've been going to this place, on and off, since I've moved to Santee. Last night, I went there for the first time in a few years, and I have never experienced such terrible customer service. I get it dealing with people isn't the easiest job but if you're having a bad day or if you dislike your job, it doesn't mean you have to pass on your negative energy on a paying customer who is nothing but patient and kind to you. As I walked in, I walked up to the counter and said hi. There were two employee working. They did not acknowledge me. I stood there for good 15 minutes without anyone asking me if I needed to order or tell me that they're busy taking care of customers orders from before me. I finally said, "hey, can I place an order whenever you guys have a chance?" And one of them replied without looking at me facing her back to me, and said "we're working on other orders." I'm sorry but that's not how you behave at work no matter what is going on in your personal life. It was the most terrible treatment I've received at any place I've ever been to. Adam and I have been here once and we were happy but it wasn't anything special. We both came in on a lovely spring day for a small vanilla cone. There was no line and we were able to be helped right away. We got our cone and went outside to eat. There are some flowers and benches you can sit on and enjoy your ice cream and the flowers. The shop is in a good area as it is by a lot of the shops so you can stop here to get some ice cream while doing your weekly shopping. The inside of the shop is okay. It wasn't recently renovated and seemed a bit old but it gets the job done. There aren't many tables in side either but we live in California... get outside! Overall, it is okay here, nothing crazy or fancy. If you want some simple ice cream they have your back. read more
