In the land of Dairy Queen, we treat you right! Or at least I think that's how the jingle goes. Regardless, for the first time in my yelp history this review will be brief. Dairy Queen is located in a safe and easily access area of town. I think I've been three times and all the employees seem very nice. As for the shop itself it's very clean and never busy thus getting anything to eat will be quick. They do have an assortment of cakes for those who need something for a birthday. As for me, I've tried the dipped cone three times. It's downright irresistible and tasty but one has to be quick to eat it before the melt begins! The SoftServe ice-cream is smooth as one has come to expect while the hardened chocolate offers that nice crunch to contrast the texture. In other words, it's good! While I prefer custard over ice-cream and I wish this was a full-service Dairy Queen, what they do serve is good and they have a smile on their faces. We were out for a quiet drive and decided to stop into the Dairy Queen for a refreshing treat. The Dairy Queen on Old Trolley Road in Summerville is one of my favorite places to go for ice cream and cold treats. This is a great place to come to on a really hot day to cool down and chill. I love coming to Dairy Queen whenever I'm close by one. There are none within 20 minutes of where I live. When I come up here to Summerville, I like to occasionally stop by this Dairy Queen. This time, I was feeling weak and decided I'd eat my food inside. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is typical of an ice cream place. A lot of noise from children and not a lot going on for adults. They only have a handful of food items to choose from, which mainly includes hot dogs. I got a chili cheese dog and the cashier asked if I wanted to add onions, relish, ketchup, or mustard. I said "sure, all of it." It was pretty good, I guess, for a cheap hot dog. Also, I got some of their pretzel sticks which were actually the highlight of my meal! That says a lot considering I ordered a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard as a drink. The pretzel sticks were like soft pretzels you get from wherever, except they are straight instead of twisted into a pretzel shape. You get 3 of them and they're of a decent size. They have salt on them and come with some kind of queso dipping sauce. The sauce was impressive to me, considering it came from Dairy Queen. I was expecting more like yellow nasty cheese but this queso was white and a tad bit spicy but not too much at all! I'll probably be back there within a month and order the exact same thing. "The dark-haired female working today, February 6, 2019 around noon wanted to refuse service because of my ADA approved service dog. This has happened twice to me in this establishment. She refused to tell me her name so I could let the owner know. She told me that all the customers would complain with me having a dog in the store. She also said I was making a "big scene" which is ridiculous as I never raised my voice, I offered her all the documentation I had (which by law I'm not required to do) and explained she could call the number on the back of the ADA card to know the restaurant's rights as well as mine. She finally just asked what I wanted then told me to leave when I got my frappe'. I went and sat quietly in the corner while the store filled with customers. Not one of them complained, instead they smiled at Jillian and told me how beautiful and well behaved she was. I finally called the police to hopefully educate the lady who was rude and wouldn't look at the ADA card I had explaining the federal law which she instead slid with force back at me telling me she "didn't care and didn't want it". I didn't want this to happen to me again when I went there with my children and I didn't want it to happen to anyone else. It's traumatizing and upsetting to be treated that way for something I'm doing legally, quietly and non- disruptively. When I went back to the counter to get the corporate number before leaving she said there wasn't one. Also, I did ask her for an apology which she refused to give and told me I was again making a "big scene and was over the top in calling the cops". I explained to her that I just wanted her to be educated about this to which she replied "I'm not stupid, I don't need any education". I replied that I absolutely wasn't calling her stupid but was trying to educate her and the team about the rights of service dogs and their handlers since she wouldn't listen to me or read the material I gave her. She kept saying "I was ridiculous, over the top and service dogs have to be big, on a leash and walking on the floor." I've contacted the corporate office - yes lady, there IS one which I'm sure you knew. I've been told a formal review is in process from the corporate end down to the regional manager. Truly, I really hoped she'd just listened to me, read the ADA info I'd given to her and that this could be resolved peacefully and politely. I've NEVER had to call a corporate office about a complaint - only about excellent service I wanted to share. I've never called the police about anything except an emergency. I told him it was a last resort as this was the second time this has happened to me and it also happened to friends of mine who own a large German Shepherd who wears a large service dog vest and they, too, were asked to leave. He found nothing wrong with the ignorance of his staff and his view on "dogs" being in his store. Once again showing his ignorance as service dogs are considered medical equipment when they are working. He was also upset about my reviews on google, his website and now I'm including YELP. My feeling? If you don't want bad reviews then do your job with politeness, kindness and in accordance to local and federal law. He also said that the dark haired employee said my dog was "in my purse with a fluffy bow on her head" therefore she wasn't a service dog. SERIOUSLY???? She's a Yorkshire Terrier. She is small - 3#'s, so being on the ground in a crowded restaurant is dangerous to her life. Also she has long hair so the "fluffy bow" keeps the hair out of her eyes. NONE of those things distract her from being a seizure alert service dog. Talk about profiling. He became more difficult as the discussion continued and told me since I "couldn't handle his rules then I could just stop coming to his store" thereby admitting that he's not willing to follow federal laws but instead is deciding to make up his own. Again, the corporate office has been called and they are investigating further as this is NOT how they want to be associated with their independently owned DQ franchises. read more

I checked into this place on my way from checking my mail and it once again was scorching 90° outside so I decided to stop in here because it had been along time since I went to a Dairy Queen. When I walked in the shop was small but appeared clean I noticed they had alot of different toppings for the icecream but for some reason I decided not to go overboard with the sugar, I decided to order something simple a small Caramel Sunday. The Sunday was simply it actually kinda reminded me of the McDonald's one only alittle pricier. I also noticed that they had icecream cakes which I thought seemed kid friendly or if someone has a really sweet tooth for icecream cake. Ordered a sundae and received the wrong one. That is okay. I told the girl behind the counter and she was very rude. She began to tell me that I received what I ordered. I told her no I ordered the what I wanted. So I ordered the sundae again and she charged me in addition to the wrong sundae. I was ok up until the part when i was sitting at a table and the cashier joins her friends at another table with her friends and began to talk about me. I've had good and bad experiences there, but I must agree with the reviewer who said that they have the grumpiest server ever working there. Must be the same server I had today: do not dare ask for cherries in your ice cream or she will rip your head off mid-sentence.
