They say they use a high quality local dairy; I had hoped they would actually use imported New Zealand milk but that may be too much to ask for. Love this new neighborhood ice cream shop. We were over by Target and stopped in for a treat after shopping. It was fun to try the rotating scoops. Ended up trying the Oreo Battery Banana (NZ style which was unique!) while my kids got scoops of Baja chocolate and vanilla. Great staff! They were so patient with our kids. Was looking for a unique dessert experience and came across Phil's. While I didn't try the New Zealand style ice cream (seems better suited for summer), the ice cream flavor I did try was super delicious. It had nuts. It was not too sweet. But that was broken up with these caramel swirls that were a little bit sweeter. I loved it. If you are looking to try unique ice cream or just really tasty normal ice cream, check them out. read more

Came here in a family vacation and would go back. Very tasty and a new kind of ice cream! The woman behind the counter was very sweet and had patience for our indecision. Izzy's has been on my list for a couple years now. I had the opportunity to go today and was nicely surprised. I tried the pumpkin icecream and cookie dough vegan icecream. They had several options to choose from but it wasn't overwhelming. The service was so incredibly kind and helpful! It is good for grab and go or sit and eat. The worst part of it is that they had limited choices and still couldn't keep anything in stock. It's all about location, right? Izzys blows all of these places away. Different clientele, I guess. If you are going to Target or one of the several bars and restaurants in this area, make sure to get stop at Izzys for some dessert! There's a set-up toward the back with a kids' table and some kid books, which kept our daughter entertained while we finished our ice cream. Simply the best stop ever! Stop in after a nice evening stroll to check it out and had he hardest time trying to decide but the owner was so great she suggested a combination of two flavors that were so good we are trying to find a way to stop in one more time before we head back home to Virginia.
