I don't know why this DQ only gets two stars average from other reviewers. I had a great experience tonight. They had a lot of customers out front and in the Drive-Thru and they took me immediately at the walk up window. The young lady was super friendly and polite, and she and her team got my Nutter butter peanut butter malted medium shake done so quickly. And it was delicious. Unfortunately this is my local Dairy Queen. Clearly the rude wauconda kids who work here have been coached to give as little ice cream as possible in a cone. The ice cream itself is "foamy" and not like most other Dairy Queen locations. It's almost as if there is too much air in it (so that the owner can give you less for the same high price). I saw a comment about this consistency of the icecream at this particular location and I wanted to give my thoughts. I had come to this location a couple months ago and ordered a small vanilla icecream cone with sprinkles, my usual. The first lick of my cone I could immediately tell that something was "off" about the icecream, but I thought hey maybe it was just that singular day. I came back to this location for the second time, and ordered the same thing: a small vanilla icecream cone with sprinkles, and again I'm met with the same thing... the flavor and consistency was off! There is absolutely and I mean absolutely NO creaminess at all in the icecream. I love myself a good DQ cone, but the consistency, texture, and flavor at this location is NOTHING like any of the other DQ locations. The icecream tastes very airy and does not sit well on top of the cone, meaning when you take a lick you can't lick it too hard or all the icecream will fall off. If you like your DQ creamy flavor of icecream, do not come to this location. I will not be returning. read more

I am sure this will fall on deaf ears with management, but lets go..... Last night, the gal on the drive thru intercom was incredibly snarky and rude. She was literally YELLING at me !! I pull up, she asks to take my order, I begin speaking and she cuts me off and says "HELLOOOO"?? So thinking she didn't hear me the 1st time I speak up a little louder and she cuts me off again and snaps "Ummm, You can stop shouting at me now", pauses and again and rudely says "I HEAR YOU". I was so taken aback - because I was totally not shouting (turn down your headset volume). I get to the window and politely ask the cashier what the name is of the girl working the drive through. She did not want to tell me and asks me "why do you want to know"??? Are you serious?? I want to know because she was incredibly rude, So now, the cashier turns around and tells the gal that I wanted her name and the rude gal was basically giving her the "IDGAF" attitude. When my order was ready, the cashiers attitude was obviously influenced by K______, the rude gal. I get no "thank you" - nothing!! Honestly, We tossed it all out because we did not trust her in preparing it at that point. All the times I have been to this franchise, I have never had an issue. These young girls can really use some coaching in communicating with the public and customer service. They have a long way to go. I will now be visiting the LZ store instead. read more

I was astounded on how i was treated at the drive thru microphone. It was highly unacceptable the way i was talked to at a frozen treat shop. I was greeted with a "hi and what do you want". Then I needed a second to review the menu because I have not been to your establishment in quite some time. She did not respond to me after that. I then later told her I would like a cake shake and with a very obvious attitude said pull around although i was not finished with my order. I also order the new tiramisu cake shake as well and was told "pull around". If I could rate this 0 stars I would because of the absolute dissatisfaction I had. I visited last night for a blizzard and the place was swarmed with walk up and drive up customers. All the staff I could see were young girls who were wearing masks. There was a man working alongside the girls who appeared to be in his 40s serving ice cream who was not wearing a mask. I threw out the blizzard and reported the clown to the health department. He's probably one of those people who doesn't believe in science and thinks hand washing after going to the bathroom is as much of liberal conspiracy as the coronavirus fraud. The owner is the biggest jerk in the world. This location doesn't have sprinkles and expresses their frustration when you have somewhat of a "complicated" order. Like "extra Reese's" or something. I purchased a large M&M blizzard and it literally had 5 pieces of candy in it. Not acceptable!

Went there today and the 2 adults in the shop (an older man and a woman) were not wearing masks. There was a younger girl there who was wearing a mask. I could see the man making my order and while doing so he touched the mic on his headset (a known germ factory) and then proceeded to put his hands all over my cup. He then placed my order into a bag, not sure what's that's supposed to do other than house his mouth germs that he put all over my order. It's bad enough the woman wasn't wearing a hat or hair net, but for both of them to be walking around, ha fling food without a mask is unacceptable. I have asthma and a compromised immune system. If I can wear a mask then they can to. No excuse is good enough. read more

The same employee who handled cash from me and the car before me also placed spoons in the blizzards and handed the food order into the car. What can I say about this Dairy Queen that has not been said about my wife Delicious. I hadn't gotten a blizzard since I was a wee lad and was even more hesitant to go to on in the suburbs of all places. Little did I know the employee (Stehanie?) was going to be so lovely. Not impressed with this location at all. I didn't think you could screw up ice cream but its just never quite as good here as other places for some reason and the chocolate syrup is thin and watery. Sometimes go here for lunch and they never have actual food items available. They have them on the menu but when requested I'm always told oh sorry those aren't available yet. It's 11:45, what exactly are you waiting for?! Why even offer anything besides ice cream if you aren't going to bother to defrost it and have it available during lunch time? Where to begin. First of all, and most important, this DQ does not have sprinkles. I repeat, they do not have sprinkles!!! Aren't you an Ice cream place????? I'm surprised no one else thinks this is odd. Not that I get sprinkles (I prefer the crunch; they don't have that either), but still, so bizarre. My vanilla dipped chocolate cone was only half way dipped in chocolate. Umm? I'm probably a little more upset than I should be over ice cream, but still. Finally, the workers are not pleasant. So where do I start.....first off the two grown ass men that work here are the most rude ice cream men ever. Every time I go here and go through the drive thru I am tempted to leave the second I see them inside working because I know that I'm in store for some sort of rude comment or attitude. I mean if you hate your life because your serving ice cream as a living then keep it yourself or find another job where you don't have to be in contact with the public. The only reason I order is because once your in line there there's no getting out. Anyways I go there to get my wife a sundae and every time I order it with whipped cream on it like most sundaes come with and myself a blizzard but every single time they forget the whip cream and need to be reminded I mean cmon its ice cream it's not rocket science. But the most disturbing thing is tonight I swear on my life that in the bottom of my blizzard there was something that resembled spit because it was not the color of chocolate ice cream so I immediately threw it out and started this review. I recommend going to Baskin Robbins where you have nicer people working and you can see them preparing your tasty little treat in case someone spits in it to be funny. read more

This DQ completely messes up orders. It's like they don't care at all what your order is and make whatever they feel like - which is pretty much a vanilla scoop of ice cream. The blizzards don't even have the right ingredients mixed in (for example, Salted Carmel turtle blizzard has no salted Carmel!) Definitely will not go back. read more
