I went to Duck Donuts with my son this morning. Upon arrival, it was nice to see on the front door that it was a military owned company. The inside was quite clean, and there were a few seats available along the window. The owner was very kind and explained the different ways to order donuts because they had several menus, including one for the holidays. We decided to get half a dozen donuts. And as we watched, they do make the donuts fresh. And then added the toppings that we ordered. The smell inside was amazing. We had a variety of donuts, one with bacon one that was lavender, etc. They were warm and delicious! We cut a piece of each of them and enjoyed them all. They do not offer yeast donuts only cake donuts. But the cake dough batter used seems to be a lighter version of cake donuts so not as filling. Highly recommend! read more

Extremely disappointed with my experience here. Ordered eight boxes of a variety of different donuts ahead of time and was told that they would be a variety of different donuts. When I arrived, one person was working in an extremely smoky donut shop with an awful smell and presented me after 40 minutes of waiting (even though I was in time for my pickup) with the exact same doughnut just dipped in vanilla chocolate or strawberry icing. When I asked him if they do a variety of donuts, he said the company has changed and they don't do any of the donuts that are currently posted not only on the website but also in store & on yelp. Either he's lying and just didn't want to do the work or this is true and is disappointing. I will also note that he touched every single donut by hand with no gloves on, and the donut shop was in complete disarray. read more

First time customers so we ordered a variety box (not pictured original glaze and blueberry). The original glaze was outstanding! Crunchy outside with soft interior. The icing also started to harden by the time we got home and left a sweet crunch in the middle. Blueberry delivered on the flavor without being artificial. I met Maulesh and his amazing team! This was our first time going to Duck Donuts and they are incredible! They are made fresh, then dipped, drizzled, and topped to order! I had one similar to the Girl Scout Samoa and my boyfriend had the Boardwalk with Oreo crumbles. The decor was very colorful and playful, and was very clean. This place is more gimmicky than a place you would go to routinely for donuts. The donuts themselves are just assembly line made and not craft donuts like you get in Chicago with very nice fresh dough. They are definitely fresh but mass production quality. Kids can watch donuts get customized which is cool but definitely too much going on with options. They do have good coffee/drink variety which is a huge plus but the coffee is generic flavor too and not great quality. There are some seating areas inside and generally clean. Would've loved something more local and small business with craft donuts instead of a mass produced chain with too much sugar. read more

I always go to the lake Zurich location, as I love Duck Donuts. I went last week and the girl gave me cold donuts, which supposed to be hot and made to order as I told her. She told me that she made some up front so they would be ready to give out orders quicker. I told her that's wrong, they supposed to be hot. I was in a rush and had to leave to pick up grandson from school, otherwise I would've made her redo a hot dozen. I was so upset, I paid $24 for cold donuts that I couldn't even eat until I got home to stick in the microwave. read more

Fresh warm donuts hand frosted- what's not to love?! Our donuts were tasty, but I was taken aback by the price. Out of box of six donuts, only one was a "specialty" with the extra toppings and the rest were just plain frosted. I was pretty stunned when the register showed over $15 for a half dozen. Our order was a little old because I didn't arrive until after the store had closed . My fault. You insisted that you make it fresh again on the spot. Worth every minute of the wait. VETERAN OWNED. Very expensive for what you get. Al of the donuts taste the same. The only difference is the topping!

First thing is the donuts which are cake type and made to order. If it's a carry out you can't close the box because you will lose the coating. The donuts are good but costly. Others are just as good and less expensive. The service is slow. I went at 11AM and was there for almost 15 minutes for 2 donuts. The store was only staffed by 3 people which led to the slower service. I may go back but other places are higher on my list. The 2 donuts cost $5.65. read more

The donuts are warm and made the way you want. My granddaughter and daughter really like the milkshakes. My granddaughter likes hers with a donut on top. Very clever and fun. I am very impressed with the people who work there always helpful. I have recommended these donuts to many of my friends. There's no where else you can get a fresh made and warm donut made your way. Don't Bother! Very disappointing. I have never been to a Duck donuts and was surprised to see that they make donuts to order...very inefficient! Also, they put the donuts in a box and then cover the box, when you get home you will find almost of the icing is melted off the donuts and stuck to the bottom of the box. Very unimpressed with the flavors and all the donuts appear to be cake donuts. I prefer a light fluffy yeast raised donut. It is very confusing to order as there are not donuts to choose from, just pictures on a card, so you are not sure what you are ordering. I ordered 3 donuts and was charged over $8. Needless to say I will not be back! A shout out to the young friendly crew manning the shop. They were friendly and helpful. I think it is just a bad concept for not so good donuts. I'm not sure if "made to order" would be the correct wording. Maybe more like, "customized to order"? I say that since the doughnuts are already made & sitting in a giant bowl behind the counter. There's nothing wrong with that other than them sitting for who knows how long which makes the doughnuts slightly crunchy. The store is VERY clean & the staff is very helpful! I tried 2 different doughnuts & even though they were good, they tasted exactly the same & were not fresh. I gave them a 4/5 simply because of how clean the store is as well as how friendly & helpful the staff is.
