    Bags of fresh cheese curds

Always a must when I am visiting home!! I love getting fresh squeaky cheese curds and lots of other cheeses from here. Sometimes it's hard to decide with so many different kinds of cheese. Definitely stop here if you're in Wisconsin!

Since the new owners have taken over this cheese store, it has gone down hill. Inventory has decreased and prices have gone up. Bare cases are the norm. It's very disappointing.

Come for freshly made cheese of all varieties at extremely reasonable prices. Meat sticks and summer sausage are added bonuses. Pro tip: get your cheese curds shrink wrapped if you're traveling. Extra pro tip: cash or check only. Super pro tip: bring an extra suitcase as cheese is heavy!

This place is an absolute gem. We live in Madison, so it is about a 2 hour drive for us, but it was completely worth the drive. Since it is a bit far for us, I suggested we make this an annual trip, but honestly, it was so much fun that we are definitely to go more than once. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was how crowded it was. We first did a walk through of all the available cheese before choosing what to put in our basket. I would like to note that they only accept cash and check. The gas station down the block has an atm, but a charge to withdraw cash. The amount and variety of cheese they have is what Wisconsin is all about. We spent $80 and got almost 20 different cheeses. Refer to picture. What a deal. They make absolute wonderful, special christmas gifts too. We got paneer, limburger spread, flavored cheddar, aged and white cheddar, brie, string cheese, and gouda. Especially excited to cook with the paneer. This place embodies Wisconsin's cheese culture and pride in our dairy. It was a really special treat.

Imagine winding country roads lined with farms and cows grazing in the pastures. Then you know it must be Wisconsin! This is where the Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese Company is located. Imagine the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory of Cheese. They have more cheese varieties than you can imagine. They even make cheese curds here. You can tell the curds are fresh when they are still warm and even squeak when you eat them. Prices are usually a third to half of what one would pay at the local grocery store. No visit is complete unless you visit their ice cream parlor. Large scoops are just $1.50! They even offer free samples too!

Wisconsin's best cheese! A busy and bustling place every time we visit! Along with fresh cheese products, it is a great place for education. Love to watch them making fresh cheese curds! Be sure to visit the ice cream shop and upstairs viewing deck. My favorite products: Hot Rods, Cheese Curds and Cranberry Cheese!

If you are within an hour of Rudolph for any reason, I need you to drop whatever you're doing and drive to the Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese factory immediately. It's a completely overwhelming place due to the huge variety, but the upside is that even if you basically black out from joy like I did, it's so cheap that when you emerge from your haze at the register it won't set you back anything close to what the same haul would at a grocery store. The factory store offers their own stock plus that of other cheesemakers. You can buy cheese by the block, in curd form, wedges, strings, spreads, and even in wax shapes ranging from corn cobs to dinosaurs to football players. You can also buy cream cheese and butter. On my first trip last weekend I got hot pepper Monterey jack, garlic Monterey jack, Dutch-style gouda, cranberry Monterey jack, smoky cheddar, aged asiago, aged sharp white cheddar, cream havarti, aged cheddar spread, cream cheese, and cinnamon honey butter. The total lot (around 6 pounds of cheese) set me back $27. That spread is dangerous, as is the smoky cheddar. I'm excited to try the cream cheese as I've only ever had the mass-produced variety. I may have walked out with a ridiculous amount of cheese, but at such low prices it was hard to say no. I easily could have walked out with double, but since we were camping there was only so much room in our cooler. I can't wait to go back, though, to try some other varieties!

AMAZING place for your CHEESE fix! On a recommendation from my Yelp community manager, I made the trip up to check this place out. I'm so glad I did. I was very prepared and brought an empty cooler and ice for the long trip home. This place takes CASH or CHECKS ONLY. This place was packed with people on a Sunday at 11am. They close at noon on Sundays. They had two long lines of people checking out, but the lines went pretty quick. Some people were standing in line and shopping at the same time. That was a great idea. I felt as though I was shopping the day after Thanksgiving! They have a lot of cheese options. They make a lot of different types of cheeses themselves (and a lot of flavored varieties). They have lots of spreadable cheeses, decoratively shaped blocks of cheeses (Bucky and others), some specialty cheeses from other cheese makers, cheese curds (plain and flavored), maple syrup, honey, beef sticks (lots of options), shredded cheese, sliced cheeses, blocks of cheeses, goat cheese, Italian and Mexican cheeses and so so so much more. They have salted, unsalted and whipped butters. They have whey protein powder that is awesome in frozen fruit smoothies. Their prices are ridiculously CHEAP! I filled my cooler to the brim and spent $60. They do have an ice cream area and the cones looked amazing too.

Ask the Community - Dairy State Cheese

    Is there cheese tasting samples?

They do give out samples. Sometimes they are at the two cash registers and sometimes they set up a counter in the back with samples and an employee to answer questions.

But before the cheese curd endeavor, I had ordered a scoop of ice cream which was darn near the best I've had in a very long time - so good it rivals my ultimate favorite frozen custard. I forgot the exact flavor name of ice cream, but it was a peanut butter chunk chocolate.... Also, this "scoop" of ice cream I requested was not merely a scoop, it was more like a bowl! Also picked up a variety of meat, summer sausage and meat sticks. Never can go wrong here. Highly recommended if you're within an hours drive! Funny thing to add is my work colleague was with me - he did not grow up in Wisconsin and never had fresh cheese curds. I had been talking about squeaky cheese curds before we had been here and he gave me the crazy WTF look when I was trying to describe them. Well, he popped a few into his flapper, and he started to tell me "hey, these squeak when I chew them!". He's then telling me, hey.. squeaky cheese curds... they actually squeak! Laughing his ass off at the same time ..... and amazingly, that bag disappeared very quickly
