One of my Japanese store that I come and buy containers and stationery at. They are affordable and they are decent quality. You pay what you get. They are import from Japan. The prices have change throughout the years due to inflation and tariffs the past years. The prices are displayed on rack with conversion. Now if there is no price display on items, it is $2 something. You can always as a worker. They are around the floor. Nevertheless this place is great place. I've been wanting to visit a Daiso store for a long, long time. How lucky to have finally stumbled upon one in New York City the other day. This store is massive, and it went above my expectations. I personally expected to find stationary items, and other paper goods. But there's so much more. They have unique Japanese snacks and candy. There's an assortment of organizing tools, they have baby and toddler supplies. There are proper glass cups, plates and bowls. They have those large, trendy stuffies and plush blankets. Anything and everything can be found at Daiso. Most items are under $5.00, any item without a price tag is $2.25. I wish they offered a restroom for customers, so they're not rushing to leave, when they had the intention to make a purchase. This is based on personal experience. Daiso is a fun retailer. I just gotta learn to economize" (The Kinks) We were walking around Manhattan when I saw a store called Daiso Japan. My brother in law said something like, "It's kind of like a Japanese dollar store. Do you want to go in?" Well, what do you think I said? What a cool place! The store is packed with all kinds of stuff - Japanese foods, Disney and anime stuff, cosmetics, kitchen goods, masks and Halloween costumes, stationary, stuffed animals, and on and on. It's not really a "Dollar Store" because we bought five things, and their prices ranged from $2.25 for a 4-pack of Ramen to $4.50 for a nice storage tray. Some of the prices are in Yens, but they have nifty conversion charts to translate yens into dollars. Daiso has 3,620 stores in Japan and about 2,300 other stores around the world, including 90 in the U.S. To be honest, I had a blast going through the store. It will be a long time should I ever want another Daiso fix. They have no stores in my state, and the closest one for me is 81 miles away in Scarsdale, NY. read more

Located on 57th between 2nd and 3rd Ave. it's great to have a Daiso in NYC. Typical to Daiso in other states, great prices for all the kitchen goods and Asian foods. They do not take returns and no refunds and the sign is posted at checkout. Also as of 2023, no American Express and no Apple Pay. Still worth a look when passing by. I got a spoon with a hanging clip (see photo). Very useful for my purposes. read more

Came back again. If you like the items, I'd recommend you to buy them right away. Most of the i teams, you won't be finding when you return to the store. if it's first time, you probably spend time here about an 1hr at least.......Whole Foods is next door, you can sit down and open your items with your lunch! :) read more

I'm so happy a Daiso is in Manhattan! It's such a great store for small needs around the house and kitchen for amazing prices as low as $2, which is so great since it helps me not buy things in bulk online. Quality depends on the product, but for $2 it's enough, and generally high quality for the price. The pricing for items is hung around on a laminated sheet on the wall. There's so much in stock, I've bought laundry nets, an organizer for my purse, stickers, art paper, cable holders, plant supplies, etc. They also have such a cute seasonal section in the front of the store. I dont get the hype about this place. it is like an expensive dollar store but the stuff is more expensive and you can usually find the same stuff for a lower price in another store. It is full of cheap stuff that they make cute-sy. They have kid stuff , kitchen gadgets, stationery, some makeup, storage boxes etc.. ...overall, I am not that impressed. I do find it a good place to find small zipper bags for powercords, makeup etc... The pricing is strange and very confusing and not clearly marked. there are charts where you have to try and figure out the price of the item, and most of the time, you get it wrong. There are signs that explains pricing somewhat like "if there is no price tag it is $1.99 and if there is X it is $5." and stuff like that. Of course, you think the thing you want is $1.99 and you find out at the register it is $5. This store on 57th is unpleasant to shop in. It has low ceilings and weirdly over heated. kind of claustrophobic and you start sweating. one of the staff told me they can't control the heat/AC because of the building management or something. read more

Rounding up to 4, so many thoughts and feelings ! The daiso is good in that it has great variety of products. And it's relatively spacious. BUT This daiso isn't like tradition daiso you think it is. Everything is $2 and up. They have a conversion chart listing how much things cost throughout the spot. If it says 200 yen, you going to pay almost 4 bucks. And that is not the dollar to yen ratio, because the dollar is pretty strong. It is just marked up!!!! If items don't have a price at all, then it is $2. If it does show the price then you need to match it to a chart. There are a lot of self check out that are cards only. They take cash there was one attendant helping. So that made a bit of a line when ppl have many many items. also paper bags here was 20 cents... I mean whole food charges 5 cent.. The staff there were nice and friendly. Their inventory seems to change often and I like to checkout the latest Sanrio, LINE Friends, Rilakkuma, or Disney items. They have a bunch of housewares items, craft supplies, makeup supplies, Japanese snacks, and etc. similarly to other Daiso locations. I also like that they accept credit card payments. read more

This store is a treasure trove of things you didn't know you needed. It's small, but packed to the gills and you really need to take your time to walk around and see everything. I killed an hour just browsing. The prices are fantastic and they have little signs posted everywhere to show how much everything costs in American dollars because the items are priced in Japanese yen. A business that sells products from a technologically advanced country doesn't accept electronic payment - it doesn't track. Nice selections, but please update your register technology or put a sign on the door before I waste my precious time shopping. For example, if a business doesn't accept AMEX, it's clearly denoted on the door what they accept or do not. When I asked about a sign, the young lady at the register points to the little label on the card reader. Try just a bit harder. read more

It was my first Dayso experience in America. I have been to the one in Japan. Huge difference. I wish they had more japanese style bowls and dishes. But their selection was very limited. Also, they don't give you bags (I don't know if it's a NY law or just a store policy). But people were friendly and found some Japanese treats which brought me back childhood memories. I love Daiso and I've spent an unhealthy amount of energy tracking their latest inventory either on IG or their online website. I'm always drawn to their collabs particularly the Sanrio collection. To be honest, their stuff are actually useful and sturdy. And so darn cute! And price can't be beat! I really and truly hate to say it but sadly, I found this particular Daiso to be a disappointment.

This is a nice shop with very affordable products. Everything is neatly arranged and organized which is very conducive to browsing and shopping. The pricing was a bit confusing to figure out at first but I quickly got the hang of it. The sales associate also helped to confirm the pricing when I was ready to pay. There are self-checkout stations that make it easy to pay and be on your way. Overall, a fun place to shop for cute things and won't break the bank. I will be back! read more

Daiso has replaced the former Woolworths 5 & 10 cent store. Lots and lots of things to choose from, even stuff you you never thought you needed before you came! The Japanese yen for perfection is everywhere and the prices are low. They're well stocked, polite to their customers and have signs all over the place translating the price marked on the object from yen to dollars and cents.
