SERVICE! I have been to three MUJI locations in the past 24 hours searching for a travel mug I saw on matchatok only to realize it's seasonal and not sold in the US right now. This was the only store that bothered to tell me that they get shipments of them every once in a while but it's very low and sells out quick. Another lady at the cashier who was busy closing up helped me look up the item code from the screenshot I had to see if it was in stock anywhere. And the gentleman at the register I think his name was Raymon (sorry if I butchered it I have bad memory) helped me wrap up my items for my trip. I love this store and come here often, but this Sunday, a group of employees were hanging out at the registers and trash talking customers at a normal speaking volume, which made me feel uncomfortable so I left without purchasing the items I wanted. The one person working the register was a tall-ish medium built man with curly hair, and he was very professional, but the others should know if they want to talk that way, they need to do it in the back, not out on the floor where everyone can hear them. Otherwise, the store is very clean and I love the minimal packaging. PS. To the employee talking about that woman's face: better to have a fat face than a fat everything. read more

Muji East 59th Street Muji is a Japanese retail company that sells a wide variety of household and consumer goods. Muji's design philosophy is minimalist. Muji places an emphasis on recycling, reducing production and packaging waste, and a no-logo or "no-brand" policy. I guess I'm attracted to the calming colors and the lack of overstimulation to the senses. Some days I want a break from the busy artistic designs. I do wish the items were not so expensive. I understand importing them comes with a price. As with the other Muji locations, customer service is of upmost importance. Employees are trained and knowledgeable. This store is clean, organized, and fully stocked. I recommend you visit this location. read more

What an incredible store. It has everything I need and even things I didn't know I needed. The esthetic is simple, refined and eye catching. While I enjoy browsing, I always find something I need for my kitchen, clothing, beauty items, stationery and food too - I always get some snacks. There are a few locations in they city and one in Brooklyn too. Definitely worth a visit. read more

They have some nice, interesting things, but they are all enormous. I wear a mens small, and even the extra small mens is way too big for me. I bought (online, I admit, so I didn't have the chance to try them on) the flannel shirt, thinking it would b great for early fall. I bought extra small, and it is huge. Does anyone agree? The wonderfully spare Japanese clothing in this store, is a tribute to good design. With very little "ornamentation ," they get it right all the time. If there were an artist whose work was sympatico with all the items in this store, including housewares, I would name Mondrian. Go Muji, go! read more

Big fan of this Muji location, nestled a couple avenues from the east side of Central Park. First of all, they got a big store! Plenty of clothes, stationery, kitchen supplies, bed, furniture, and travel stuff. I love looking through everything especially when they have a weekend flash sale; you could spend about an hour checking out everything. They have a few dressing rooms to try on the clothes. The sad part is that I never see the custom embroidery section open ever; must have closed during the pandemic :'( Anyways, come and support! read more

I cannot resist their selection of pens and notebooks and definitely can't walk out without buying a few....or a box of 12. The last time I was there I did discover something new, their bar soap. I had a brand new sweater, that I purchased at one store, I walked in, showed the security guard my receipt and sweater, asked what register I could take it back at, went and found an identical sweater to exchange it for, and then I couldn't find the receipt, so they refuse to exchange it for me. a garbage policy made by a horrific bad customer service decision-maker. Five stars for an extremely aesthetically pleasing (& reasonably priced, with very well made items) store. Muji is the basics store I didn't know I needed in my life but can't get enough of. Everything from house wares to clothes to stationary and pens, muji is a Japanese chain of everything you could possibly need. The clothing items are very well made, many of them from organic fibers. I bought a few tshirts and they are the best ones I own, by a long shot. The socks are also great quality. I was on vacation so I couldn't buy as much as I would have liked, but the store experience was so lovely. Can't wait to go back! read more

Holy moly, boy am I terribly backed up on reviews! It's the day after my birthday and here I am typing furiously, trying to rapidly churn out reviews, because obviously, I've been procrastinating :P I came here last Tuesday with my sister and while I absolutely adore Muji, this location definitely isn't my favorite. The two of us came here hoping to buy some new pens for the incoming semester, but we walked out with a monthly planner and a single highlighter. The stationery here is just simply too limited. There was a pen that caught my sister's eye and she really wanted to get it, but they only sell the body of the pen and not the cartridge refill. Like hello, what is she supposed to write with?? That said, the service here was quite nice. read more

WORST violated customer service experience! Cashiers refunded wrong amount and I kindly brought it to their attention and they rolled their eyes and they were laughing at me for making them give me the correct amount for a refund. It would have been a nice experience if they simply make apologies and make the adjustment. A manager came to find me and apologized on their behalf and she is the one who made the adjustment for me. the cashiers just humiliated the customer and did no work. Love the products and simple designs with no logos, but i wouldn't visit this location ever again. The rude customer experience makes the products not worth it's value. read more

Horrible customer service. When a shirt was purchased at another Muji, it didn't have a sticker RAISING the price by $10. I tried to get a price adjustment to honor the tag price, but this location would not honor the tag price. They would only take a return and full refund as opposed to just honoring the price difference. Avoid this location. read more

Just wanted a store credit for a backpack I bought a few days ago. The receipt was lost as I got another backpack as a gift so decided to exchange this one. I have the credit card transaction and a simple look up would confirm my purchase as had the screen grab of the purchase and my CC with me. Nope., no store credit or exchange. I did not need my money back as i shop at muji often. I won't shop at this Muji ever again as it makes zero sense. If I can in with only a backpack and no CC info or dates and product was used... well that would have made sense. Short term gain vs long term customer service. I do have to say it's a bit of an inconvenience that when I tried to exchange a dress for a different size from another Muji (I had purchased it 2 hours earlier and still had receipt) that it wasn't accepted and was met with a bit of a judgemental tone. I was told from the original Muji I purchased from that I'd be able to exchange for the correct size. Regardless this store does have a lot of apparel that some of the others do not carry. That alone is likely the reason I've returned so often. read more

Just a great store with unbranded, great products from beauty to clothing to snacks to office supplies to home goods etc. nothing bad to say and this spot has a nice little coffee bar which has baked goods. Did come here and was asked to do a survey on an iPad which I agreed to for a 10% off coupon (who cares) and then was bummed to learn I couldn't use it off anything already discounted (don't even ask me then), the staff doesn't seem A1 but I love their products so I'll put up with it. read more

Just like other MUJI stores, it is welcoming and easy to shop. I stopped by on their grand opening (4oj, too), so some good deals were going on. The best part about this location is they have a cafe in the basement. So if you need a little break while shopping, grab a fresh matcha lemonade or old brew here, reset, and start the fight over. read more

I love this store. But I am disappointed. May be the stores mistake or yelp's but based on the hours listed on Yelp, I traveled to the store today, Saturday only to find out the closing time is 6:00! So don't go by the posted hours if you are planning to go on Saturday!! read more

AVOID this location if you want to avoid de-humanizing customer service experience! They will not help you, you will need to help them to find what you need in there. WORST COMPANY EVER. Run away. Purchased an aroma diffuser and I asked if I could return if I never used it. Would not let me return only because I had opened the box. Even when I asked if I could.l return under the conditions. They said yes. Not only is everything extremely overpriced, worst customer service ever. They lied to me to get the sale, then wouldn't let me return. They offered store credit. Which makes no sense since they would be taking the item back to then re-sell. Love MUJI since I lived in Japan. Their facial skin care products are excellent! Especially the OIL CLEANSING, MOIST ESSENCE LOTION and the MOISTURISING CREAM are the best for my sensitive and very dry skin. And very reasonable prices too! read more
