I like this location because it is convenient and bigger with 3 levels. There was a lot of staff on the floor restocking, but I was able to ask questions as well. There is a wide variety of bags, shoes, toys, clothing. Good for gift giving. I will definitely be back to get family holiday gifts. Bathrooms, very clean too! read more

This TJ Maxx on West 57th is like many others in this retail chain. Plenty of clothes for men, woman, children along with household items, gifts, knick knacks, pocketbooks, mens & womens beauty products, shoes and more. Even though there seems to be never ending rotating inventory based on season and time of year I find it's very hit or miss. You need to really dig through the racks to find what you need or just get out of there if nothing catches your eye. Yet, you can find some nice cheaply priced items at times for your needs. read more

Wanna get your day destroyed with drama like the ones on Broadway? Come to this TJ Maxx store! Be ready to enjoy drama brought upon you by staff Annamarie, led and directed by store manager Joeo. When you asks for clarification from a staff you actually hold a conversation with, they gave you many rolled eyes to the point you'd worry about their eye health. And Annamarie is exceptional with flipping her hair and head 360 degrees from ground to sky - a strong indicator of a good spine. Good for her! Oh! They also covered their name tags when you were annoyed and ready to submit a formal complaint to the corporate! I'm sure it's against the store policy. Shopping for clothing is great when TJ-Maxx has clearance or low prices on their products and clothing such as kids clothing and for adults, men sports, underwear and socks including a casual wear accept men shoes but otherwise it has very nice women's clothing and women shoes and sneakers a great selections of things. The stores also have bedroom sheets and comforters and kitchen utensils. The service line gets extremely packed during holidays but is always available customer service and safety security guards. read more

The jewelry counter has you take a ticket before an emplyee can help you. It's always very slow to get help and today they helped the customer whose ticket was a higher number than mine first. So when I made my purchase, I communicated to them that I found that it was frustrating that they didn't announce the number and they just served another customer. Instead of the apology I got excuses about how they needed more staff. There were three staff members there today. and normally they're one there. A sincere apology would've made everything OK. read more

I don't know what to write. I'm writing because I've asked for help several times about how alarms are attached and when you take them off they make holes in the clothes and they should be put on a thicker part of the fabric! The woman I showed it to treated me like I was bothering her and when the manager came she started being artificially nice! She has no idea that I'm not into something like that and I'm not stupid! I'll just say that she was bored with life standing at the cash register!! When I came during September, there were a lot of Halloween items being sold, from costumes, dog toys, cushions, etc. There were multiple floors. After shopping and stepping out of the store, I got mistakened for being a local and got asked by a family where Central Park is. T. J. Maxx on West 57th Street is a very convenient location for me. I'm always visiting stores, shopping and dining in this neighborhood. T. J. Maxx has a little of everything. I love the variety. I always check out the linens. I find gifts for my daughter. They have designer handbags and more for discount prices. Check out is not a problem because they are ready for the crowds at these prices. I could spend a couple hours in here looking at everything. I recommend that you shop until you drop. read more

No trip of mine is complete with out a trip to a TJ Maxx. I'm in New York for my friend Leslie's big birthday, and I needed to grab a few goodies. TJ Maxx is the best place to buy perfume. I found a hard to find Gucci Flora in the display, as well Nina Ricci sunglasses. I got on a very long line, and while I was waiting I spotted a bag of Primevoglie chocolates. This store is a mess. It is extremely unorganized and in dire need of a good cleaning. This store reminds me of a dollar store-a complete disaster. The escalators are always broken. And the line to check out is always extremely long. Today I spent over 30 minutes waiting in line to make my purchase. The line was all the way into the woman's department. They only had four cashiers working and about five other employees chatting with each other looking like they had NO idea the line was at least 100 people deep. For this store to be on West 57th Street-Billionaires Row-it's an embarrassment. This store should be closed permanently. There is no management that runs this store properly. They don't have adequate staff for a store this size. Just horrible. Replace the entire management staff or close this location. read more

Very convenient location near Columbus circle for a multi-story store that sells anything and everything (except food or furniture). It gets a bit crowded and the checkout line is usually at least a 10 minute wait if you're lucky. Lots of products on sale including a mishmash of clothing, accessories, handbags, garden/patio decor, containers, organizers, bedding, kitchenware, pet stuff, and beauty/fitness related items. It can get messy with customers misplacing items and opening some of the products, and staff not having people to maintain the shelves. But there are plenty of discounted items to look through, just make sure the bottles are still sealed and the clothes aren't ripped or stained. Just come to browse the large selection of goods for deals and things you actually need. I love to get my liquid hand soap, bath bombs, pet toys, leggings, kitchen stuff, and skincare supplies here. Every city I go to that has a TJ Maxx Runway, I always go to. Out of all of the NYC Runways this was my favorite as it had the biggest section and was the most organized section that I saw in the store. The store itself is overfull and overwhelming but they had all of the cashmere sweaters, shoes, etc lined out nicely in the runway department. Online it says it's only women but they do also have men's, purses, and shoes at this runway location. read more

This was the best TJ Maxx that I visited in New York. They had the most selection of current styles and more classic options. They had a better selection of designer clearance and shoes but they were all small sizes. They had tons of bags and sunglasses although they were over priced, there was a lot to look at. read more

Some cashiers don't pay attention to who's next in line. In my opinion, they let Black customers get skipped over when customers of other races cut the line. It's the cashiers' job to keep order and prevent arguments over who's next. Do better and treat all customers the same. Tell everyone who tries to cut the line that they have to wait. read more

After an exhaustive, degrading day filled with stolid, callous and unfathomably nasty encounters from all levels of life, I came here to obtain closure in my search for winter boots. Such a refreshing change as my experience at this TJ Maxx revived my spirit to finally fulfill my quest! I rate it four stars as their shoes do not accompany with a corresponding box. I discovered this TJ Maxx recently. As I was exiting the 59 St Columbus Circle subway station I noticed it. The store has three levels and many shoppers. My feeling is that this store is not as well stocked as other locations, but I was able to find a few goodies for my holiday shopping. I purchased a bottle of Jimmy Choo Fever perfume, and I found a NY Jets wool cap. As usual their prices were low, but the lines were long. I may return after the holidays. read more

And I did used to come here more but had bad experiences here with customer service (like, REALLY) and decided not to come here again because it isn't worth it. Then the pandemic happened. Today I decided to step in and of course another bad experience with manager tracy. In new york you don't expect much from these places but this is one of those where it seems like its worse. If the management is like that, what can you expect from employees. I will say though from my days of shopping here more there are some rock star employees here that are great and still there. Want to put in a good word for the older lady that greets people with blonde hair and the young guy who works the register has lighter hair and eyes and sometimes reminds me of justin timberlake ;) There are others like a man who's name I can't remember but he often stands by the register line pointing people which register to go to. He is SUPER friendly and has a lot of energy. If only the whole store was people like them. It's like there's no in between here. Reading the other reviews of people who had the same experience was a little therapeutic. People complain they weren't greeted or didn't get help? Wow! I guess I'm so used to having to deal with people that don't care here that all I want is for them not to be jerks to me! Most of the time people don't speak up about this kind of thing and just find somewhere else to buy things. read more

Recently I was browsing at the the Maxx store located on 57th Street near 8th Avenue. I took a picture with my phone camera of a Valentine theme picture. A females associate approached me and told me I cannot take pictures of store merchandise. I was shocked by her remark and asked why. Her response was I can't take pictures of store merchandise. Two female shoppers near me saw and heard the whole thing. Like me they were shocked by the sales associate's response. I have taken pictures of store merchandise at TJ Maax in the past at other TH Maax stores previously and never had issues. There were 3 things that I need TJ Maax management to be aware of: 1. The sales associate's response was rude and unprofessional. 2. There were no signs in the store that shoppers cannot take pictures of the store's merchandise. 3. The sales associate never provided me with a reason why I cannot take the picture. read more

Today, October 10th I entered your Store 1163 (57th and 8th Street) at 8:00 am. The man that unlocked the doors, did not even greet the three of us, just opened the door and walked away; lovely customer service. I proceed to go upstairs to purchase my items. Upon leaving I saw three employees downstairs one being the man that opened the door minutes earlier. I assumed that they could help. Two walk away and a lady remained by the exit. I choose to ask the lady for assistance because she appeared approachable. I asked if TJ Maxx sold tissue paper. She was not certain, but she attempted to pass the buck as any employee should if they do not know the answer. But, to my surprise, when she called out to the two employees that walked away, they were now approaching the escalator and I walked over to hear their response. Rather than receiving help, the same man that opened the door now waved off this employee; thus ignoring my request. I was offended by his actions and found him utterly rude. This left me confused and I immediately said, "She's asking for a customer!" he still does not attempt to assist. However, his colleague did. Then to make this experience more interesting, I ask the lady by the exit what's his name. She responds "that's Joel, the manager". "The manager?" I respond baffled. Here is where this shopping experience went wrong once I learned who the key player was. The person that opened the door with no pleasantries is a manager. The person that was asked a question and disregarded his employee, is a manager. The person that looked at me and provided no assistance is a manager. The person TJ Maxx hired is a manager name, Joel. I now ask you, how do you have a person such as Joel "managing" your store if he lacks the proper skills of customer service 101. This was unexpected and unacceptable coming from a person of authority that supposedly represents your store and brand. I suggest you question how many other incidents have happened that went unreported. I walked into your store to spend money and have shopped at your store for many years. I am a valued customer, but more importantly, I am a person who knows their value and will not tolerate disrespect on any level from anyone. I have to say I am not a fan of the TJ Maxx stores in Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island but this Midtown West Stores has a fabulous assortment. I can always find my dress shirts, slack, or a fashionable jacket for a night out on the town. The home department has a well planned assortment and, in my opinion, have some high end home products for culinary to bedding. I also like perusing though their foot wear selection. Overall, I think this location can keep up with the C21's and their super high end competitors up the street on 5th and Madison. read more

This TJ Maxx is pretty small. The lower level is super tiny, and the 2nd level is small to moderate size. Although can't expect much in the middle of midtown. Sometimes the escalators are broken, which is annoying, as the 2nd floor is pretty far up. 1.5 escalates to climb when they're not working. The beauty section is surprisingly organized. They do have some good finds like a Balmain Leather embossed black and white duffel bag for $909, marked down from $1,860. A black Fendi partial leather backpack for $649, marked down from $959. A Valentino green canvas bag with a big VLTN logo on it for $649 marked down from $969. The sunglasses section is subpar. No good brands. Go to Nordstrom Rack for discount sunglasses. Much better there. I'm a fan of the snack sections in TJ Maxx. They have some familiar snacks, that tend to be cheaper than my local grocery stores, and they have an assortment of unique gourmet-ish snacks I've never heard of. Right now, they have some Halloween seasonal snacks on the first floor, like cotton candy, chocolates, cookies. But head upstairs in the back, just in front of the dressing rooms to see a more complete assortment of snacks including Danish Dansk Cookie Tins, more cotton candy, gourmet Rice Krispie Treats, licorice, fudge, caramels, dried fruit, nuts, popcorn, chips, etc. The women's clothing is pretty meh here. Not sure if that's because they don't get good inventory, or if it's because it's so picked through because of its high traffic location in midtown. Either way, the apparel tends to be low quality brands, with a sparse assortment of moderate pieces (Splendid, Tahari) mixed in. I saw a nice Ben Sherman hard shell 20" carry-on rolly suitcase for $50. Marked down from $160 retail. I might be in the market soon for a new one, and will keep this place in mind. read more

I was looking for a tote bad to replace one that broke on me. I usually get a plain one but I saw this one it was so cute. The area I was in was a little crowded. This is a customer service complaint for TJ max by columbus circle, nyc. The person I am reporting goes by the name Tiffany. She is a poc, and had her hair pulled up into a frizzy updo. Date of occurrence is 4/14 Sunday about 10:30am. There was a line of us waiting for check out and only one person on deck. The single person at checkout made numerous attempts to ask for assistance. Very begrudgingly (and as slowly as she could) this woman came over. The single person helping said, "thank you. I appreciate it." She gave him a long and dirty look. (we are watching this interaction quietly.) She turned her light on, and in front of all of us said "I don't even like coming up here." When it was my turn to go up, I did not rush up as I had something in my hand and quickly went to put it down to come up. Then she practically yelled "The FOLLOWING GUEST COME UP" three times, even though she saw me reaching for my bags quickly. I told her I heard her, that I was rushing to gather my things (even though she was intentional to take her time as we all waited for her) The single person helping was quick to apologize for the way I was treated. They seemed notably down by this experience. I'm writing this because so many people at this location are so kind and helpful. To say she was rude, unhelpful, and unkind is an understatement. This kind of attitude not only makes us feel uncomfortable to shop here at tj maxx, but it also makes the staff around her uncomfortable and greatly impacts the energy of the store. It's unfair to the very kind employees around her. I would want to know about these experiences if it were my company, so I'm taking the time to write this in good faith. I've always loved shopping here, and wish to continue to do so but as long as people like her are employed and continue to treat people shopping like a problem, I'm going to steer clear of this store. I was casually shopping when I overheard MANAGERS GOSSIPING about other co workers. This quickly changed the environment of my shopping and put this business into a nasty light. As a LGBTQ+ member hearing MANAGERS call other co workers homophobic slurs was unsettling to say the least. I ended up deciding to not purchase my items to not support this business. I dont know why I do it to myself, but I was in the immediate area running errands and decide to wuickly run in and grab a jar i saw a couple days ago and maybe a blouse for Easter. Its very hard to shut my critical eye. It looked like a bomb hit this place. And the crazy thing was Ive never seen so many people scheduled to work in one day. The place was flooded with staff on the sales floor. I know customers can be real SOBs and drop tops and leave them there. I oicked up atleast ten today bc my good conscious could not walk away from a top on the floor. In a previous review I mentioned the wasted space of clearance section. Why or why cant they bring in Bathroom and other household items, but wasted more than 12 shelves on what should go into the trash or condensed elsewhere. The amount of money seemingly lost make no sesne to me. So while browsing very quickly, all i see and hear is the employees personal crap. Its cool to make work fun and joke around but when youre shouting at eachother through the aisle telling stories, i just wanted to yell STFU! so badly. I couldnt take the level of unprofessionalism. And then its older women who should know better engaging w tge you ger male and females. Shouldnt you mentor. Smh. This store has always been a hot mess. New management is needed. This store has about 3-4 floors. There are elevators and escalators to get you from floor to floor. Did not find a section for kids shoes at all. The boys section was pretty much non existent. Absolutely no jeans. There were plenty of workers in the store trying to keep the store tidy and check out quickly. Per New York they do charge you for a bag like $.05 so don't be alarmed if you are out of town. The store is well stocked with other stuff home items women clothing beauty items etc. dressing rooms were open but I did not use them. read more
