Not the news I was hoping for, but it is what it is. He went through my options with me and fully explained them. I really appreciated that. I set up an appointment for the next day with Dr. Emily Smythe for extraction. She and her assistant (whose name regrettably escapes me right now) made me as comfortable as I could be, making sure that nothing was done until the novocaine was totally working. I was amazed at how short of a time this actually took. The extraction and bone graft for my upcoming implant took maybe 10-15 minutes. The next step, in about 3 months will be the post for the implant. Everyone from the receptionists who scheduled me and helped me with my insurance paperwork to the assistants to the doctors at Cameo were friendly and professional. I highly recommend them!

I see I'm not the only one who has had difficulty with Cameo's billing department. In early May…read more2026, I went to the West Loop location for a consultation for which I paid in advance. The front desk told me they do not submit an insurance claim for consultations, and yet they did. And in late May my insurance company sent them a check to cover the full cost of the consultation. In other words, Cameo was paid twice for the same visit, once by me and once by my insurance company. I was told that Cameo would require some time for the check to clear and for the reimbursement to be processed. Well, it's the end of August, three months after Cameo should have received the insurance payment, and I have yet to receive reimbursement. This is actually the second issue I've had with a reimbursement. The first was being reimbursed for services that were not performed. In that case one of the partners intervened to settle the issue. I should note that the dental care I received was excellent, but I will not return to this practice for any follow-on work. Withholding reimbursements seems to be a feature not a bug for this practice, and they've already fooled me twice.

Dr. Tismensky was very honest, straightforward, and approachable. He explained the process as he went, as well as the complications that he encountered throughout.
