I found myself stranded with the slide out of my diesel pusher stuck out. After getting it in secured, I started calling all around to see who might have the parts and who could do the work in a timely manner. After exhausting nearly 30 repair shops I reached Dakota. I was directed to JJ. JJ said he had the Parts and if I got there on Thursday morning, he would try to install them that day but worst case scenario he would install them on Friday. I arrived at opening time on Thursday, JJ and the staff were ready for me. Approximately two hours later, I received a call stating that the repair had been made and the Motorhome was ready to go. We went from an impossible situation to an easy fix. I can't thank JJ and the entire staff enough, they all understood my predicament, being 1000 miles from home with a broken motorhome And they all worked to fix the problem. We were on an extended rv trip, cross country through many areas with anticipated extreme heat when our AC began to trip the breaker and overheat the electrical panel. A bit of troubleshooting indicated it may be the electric converter. We made some calls to service people that were too busy to fit us in and were referred to Dakota RV. We were not disappointed. We spoke to Cody who, although a bit short staffed and unsure whether he could help us, offered to take a look and troubleshoot the problem. As it turned out, they had a converter that fit our needs and squeezed us in right away to fix it so we could resume our journey. Cody and Kevin were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The problem turned out to be hazardous so we are that much more greatful for their expertise and desire to help. Great place to buy an RV. My family and I would recommend giving this place a try. This was our first RV purchase. Simple buying process with no BS and No hidden fees. No pressure at all. Sales guy Trevor is really nice and knows his stuff. The staff, Cole, Amanda and Kevin explained everything very well. Service Manager was nice but not truthful in dealing with my extended warranty company. After telling me he did something, I found out he didn't and continued to drag his feet. He later admitted he doesn't like working with extended warranty companies and my RV would be the last one. He later did what was asked of him but only after I got the General Manager involved. You have to trust service people and the trust is just not there. I would NOT recommend them for any service issues. Especially if you have any warranty work. read more

We got a reservation to have our slide toppers replaced, and the work went smoothly and as estimated. Unfortunately, a few days before that, our air conditioning quit. We were looking forward to many 90 degrees plus days, so this became a critical issue. They were able to order parts, and get us in just 2 days later, and performed critical repairs on the a/c. Since we have an older Winnebago, the a/c unit is in the "basement" and has to be removed and replaced for any large-scale repair. This work took an entire day, but they knew exactly how to perform these repairs. We are very happy with their work. In recent years, we have purchased parts here, too. They have an excellent selection, especially since it is hundreds of miles to any large scale RV places. When they did not have the Winnebago part, they ordered them, and we were very satisfied with the results. They are great people. read more

Cole, tried to be helpful but it just didn't work out for us. They were super busy with summer repairs, etc. So could not get our unit in. Tried to order the part and that didn't work out either, so we sat in humidity and heat for a couple weeks because their parts guy ordered the wrong roof top unit. Second one he ordered sat on the dock for an additional 5 days and didn't arrive in time either. read more

I didn't use them for service, so I am only giving three stars. I was stupid and left my stabilizer pads 200 miles away at the last RV park I stayed at. So, I pulled into Rapid City to discover I didn't have my stabilizer pads. The RV park I stayed at recommended this place. They had a good supply of parts, but did not have the kind of stabilizer pads I needed. (I needed the kind that can support hydraulic stabilizers.) Plus, if you are NOT there for "service," there is basically no place to park your RV. Dakota RV shares a spot with a diesel truck business. There were places to park cars, but not for RV's. I asked where I could park, I was told I could park along the fence on the driveway up to the business (and I noticed that diesel trucks were doing the same thing......) The personnel were very nice and gave me suggestions as to other RV places I could get stabilizer pads. Oh, my GPS told me I had "arrived" about 400 feet before I actually got there...... read more

We can't say enough good things about this place and Michael in the service department. We were visiting Mt. Rushmore on the first leg of a long road trip with 3 kids and found ourselves with serious trailer issues. We drove in and Michael took a look and found the problem within minutes. Dakota RV is really as good as it gets. The people there are fantastic and willing to bend over backwards to help you out. My Voltage Regulator died in my RV and they got me in without an appointment. They were able to overnight the part for us and get it installed in minutes. Since I had just purchased this RV and it was new to me (98 Allegro Bus), they were incredibly patient with my questions, did a full inspection of the roof, and gave me a very competitive price on having two bad hydraulic jacks replaced. From the other RV places I had been to, any questions about the RV were met with "really you dont know that" or "I cannot answer those questions". Dakota RV was fantastic. We were in Rapid City and needed a Lube-Oil-Filter change for our Motorhome. I had set up an appointment a week previous. When we arrived we began an experience that was excellent from start to finish. Brittany, aside from being pleasant and efficient on the phone, was also extremely proficient at explaining exactly what would be done, making sure they knew all our concerns and other questions and then when we picked up the MH going over in detail what was found and done. Time did not allow us to stay in Rapid City to have some other work done but on their recommendation we were able to schedule an appointment in OR (at our destination next week) with confidence that we (and they) knew exactly what is expected and needed. Thanks to the entire staff for a painless (including the bill) experience. Oh, and our MH chassis is a Workhorse, that old GM one that hardly anyone does anymore and they not only do them but had the Workhorse parts if they were needed. read more

I am so impressed with Dakota RV's Service Manager, Cole and Dakota RV in general. We have a class A motorcoach that can be challenging to work on because it has a lot of bells and whistles. Although it took us a long time to get our motorcoach issues completely resolved due to shipping parts, Cole made sure we had our motorcoach for the Fourth of July and each weekend since. Cole bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and we won't forget it. We will certainly be back the next time we need anything done and we recommend anyone else do the same. Made a reservation to have a baseplate put on my car. They were waiting for me and all the parts ready. They quoted me 4 hours and that's exactly what it took. I have towed the car over 1,000 miles since and it performed excellent. They also installed 2 switches so I don't have to pull fuses (one under the dash and one under the hood). This is a real time saver and I recommend it. I had to wait the 4 hours and they offered the use of a courtesy vehicle. Overall a great experience and the best service ever at an RV dealer. read more

I bought a used 2002 lance camper from them on line. I talked to the salesman and we e-mailed back and forth , I was assured that the camper was very solid and I asked several times if the on board generator worked. I lived out of state and could not take s look at it in person. I was assured once again that it was excellent. I bought it and had them deliver it to my fathers house for me to pick up. I was told time and again it was in top shape. I took delivery of it in June. The first thing I noticed about it was that the slide out was sagging and the landing jack was crooked. I went to start up the gen-set and it would not start and the lights didn't work. I went back and they worked on it and got the generator sorta running and I was told that the sagging slide out wasn't a big deal. They worked on my lights and decided that it was my truck not the camper. 300 bucks later the lights worked. I went back to my dads house and went to start the generator, it would not start. I took my camper back several times in the two weeks I was there and each time it would be a full day and the generator would run until I got back to where we were staying. The day before went left to come back to Alaska, they had it again work in on the problem. They finally diagnosed it to a bad valve. We left for our trip back home, and when we stopped for the night no generator( big surprise). When we finally got home I started to diagnose the problem my self turned out it was the ignition coil modular, they don't make anymore. Generator is no good and will never be fixed. The slide out, I had to bolt a steel under structure to make it solid. We used the camper most of the summer then we put it away for winter. I walked by it yesterday and I saw that a molding on the left side back was falling off. I got down and looked at it and the wood is rotten. Today I took it apart and I have found that the whole back 3 feet of it is rotten and about 16 inches up. It's not rot that just came about this winter, it has been going on for awhile. I now am in the process of rebuilding the back of the camper. I am very disappointed in dakota rv and I would never buy anything from them again. I feel they took advantage ofe, being I live out of state, and sold me a camper that they knew was not in good condition. I would stay clear of them and there sales staff. Also when we got back nine of my trailers would work. I went down to a trailer company and for 75 dollars the redone what Dakota rv had wired and put in dual plugs. They had wired the truck to match the camper instead of switching the wire on the camper to match truck. read more
