Let me tell you my tale of despair! Recently on a trip to the national parks we had some major trauma in travels. Outside of Chamberlain SD, somehow, my trailer breakaway engaged and fried all my brakes on my 40' Fifthwheel. To make a long story shorter, after getting back on the road again, I started calling ahead to get my brakes fixed before I headed too far into the mountains! I connected with Rapid City Camping World and they said "We can work you in" Music to my ears, traveling with a group of friends and on a time schedule. Being there all day for two axels worth of brakes, bearings, 1 new hub, etc. at the end of the day we were traveling again, not without trauma. The breaking system on the trailer still had difficulties from a nicked wire and intermittently I had or didn't have brakes. They said what they did was correct but we still had a problem! To shorten the story and what Rich, the service manager did to make it right is the moral of this story and why I am praising their resolve! One thing to note is that Marcus Lemonis, CEO of Camping World, Gander outdoors, Overtons, and many other concerns CARES ABOUT A POSITIVE PUBLIC IMAGE AND THE HEALTH OF HIS BUSINESSES! To this point he publicly suggests that if you have a problem with any of his holdings, "throw the flag on the field" and he will get it resolved! That is what i did and we have come to an amicable settlement and I applaud Marcus and what he is building and taking the PERSONAL responsibility to build great companies!!! Through the process, Rich the service manager of the Camping world store became the owner of the problem and personally called me and gave me a reasonable agreed upon settlement and I could not be more happy! If more businesses took this kind of corporate responsibility for their workmanship the world would be a better place! Thanks Rich for resolving my issue. Thanks to the other teams involved like the Good Sam roadside service issues i experienced and hopefully we are all better for what we have learned. They tried to make my experience more comforting and I now have a better understanding of the services I thought I had! Under different circumstances, I would definitely have chosen a different dealership. 1. During the selection, of campers I had to pry answers out of the sales rep. Most of the time his response was I don't know. I'll have to get back with you. Clue #1. 2. While considering the purchase, the sales rep never called to see if I had any lingering question or concerns. 3. After weighing my options and was in the finance office, the F&I representative didn't listen to options I wanted. He just kept pushing his Good Sam crap. He also failed to notate the monthly timeframe I needed to make the payments. 4. The "orientation" for the camper focused more on the amenities of the camper more than the necessities. That worked out well setting it up for the first time. SMH 5. Post sale contact has been none. As for Keystone 1. Their quality control is absent at the factory. Door frames are not plumb. So now I'll have to go and get them right myself. The paint around the toy hauler ramp wasn't primed prior to painting. Now the paint is flaking off and rust is visible on the bare metal. 2. 30 days into ownership, and I have a laundry list of warranty items. The confidence I have in Camping World makes me just want to hire somebody that is independent just to avoid darkening their doors ever again. Under different circumstances where I wasn't under the time constraints I was under at the time, I would've walked away. But the fog of stress drowns out the warnings of our common sense. To sum up, if you're looking to buy an RV, avoid Camping World like the plague. Lazy and unprofessional would provide an accurate opinion of a majority of the people I dealt with. It's been a long term goal for me to buy an RV and travel the country. I had sold everything I owned and got a nice amount for it all. Rapid is my hometown and I thought I could fly there and buy an RV to start my journey right at home. Since I'm not currently living in SD I sent a message to Camping World online, inquiring about a used RV to buy. I never heard a word from them. Instead I got a nice letter in the mail with my credit score on it, talking about how my credit wouldn't work for a loan with them. I never once implied I would be getting a loan through them, I was making an inquiry to pay cash. Instead they saw my credit score and decided I wasn't fit enough to do business with. Not a word was spoken to me. The implication spoke loudly enough. I'll keep shopping at other lots that don't associate themselves with being too good for cash. You should be excited to make a sale. Our Trailer fridge went out in Havre Montana on a weekend. We proceeded to Dickinson N Dakota. We called Camping World in Summerset S Dakota. Their service manager told me of I could get it there by 10ish they would look at it. To say the least I was skeptical, but we left Dickinson at 0515, and got to Camping World at 0900, 230 miles. Camping World got it in, we went to Rapid City for breakfast and to look unsuccessfully for 12volt coolers/freezers. We drove back to Camping World, saw our trailer in the parking lot. Upon checking with service, they said they diagnosed the issue, and while they didn't have new parts, they did have used parts, and the fridge was working. We bought a new trailer from them in Oct then stored it for the Winter. Upon Memorial Day weekend we took it out for the first time and the single slide would not go out all the way. We took it back to Camping World for an adjustment ( which we knew it needed as we did our research) which is still covered under manufacturer warranty. They had 5 different people look at it and said it was okay. However we knew it was not correct and they billed the manufacturer. I contacted a MASTER TECH for COLEMAN/Dutchmen in California via phone call and discussed it with him. And basically was told that we where correct it did need adjustment. I refused to take it back to them and contacted a Mobile Service Tech that works on this type of slide out system and had it repaired out of pocket. My trust in Camping World is no longer therefore and NEGATIVE Review here. They where polite but not Qualified to even be Techs in my eyes, So so long Camping World and good luck maintaining a customer base if this is how you do business. Our leveling system in front on our Montana broke, thankfully was still hooked to our truck. Everyone was so helpful, willing to help us in our time of need. So friendly. On an extended trip across the country, we had a mishap with the living area slide on our 2013 Newmar Bay Star. On Saturday afternoon, while extending the slide, we heard a loud bumping sound. The front of the slide extended about an inch further than the other end. We called Josh @ Camping World and made arrangements to be there on Monday morning. We were in Sheridan, WY and were worried about driving it 235 miles, but braced the slide with a chunk of wood, since the locking mechanism would not lock on the front end, and made the trip. Josh and crew were extremely accommodating, and had us repaired by 12:30 Monday. The price was more than reasonable @ under $300.00. The entire establishment staff was remarkable. I called in today to see about buying a used RV from them and after several phone calls of getting hung up on we finally got a sales person. The trailer was within the retail value of Nada book value, I sent the sales person a long list of things that I would like checked out since their store was over 400 miles each way from my location. The sales person did a good job of looking at 90% of the things I was asking about and she went up and above and sent me pictures of the items. Sadly to say the RV needed way too much work because of multiple problems with it and if an insurance claim was put in on it they would total that RV for the problems. While staying in the Sturgis area, our refrigerator went out, still under warranty. We called Dometic and were given two RV repair shop choices, one of which was Camping World. We called the other RV shop and could only get an appointment 3 weeks out. My wife convinced me to call Camping World and give them a shot. Reluctantly I called and was pleasantly surprised when they were able to get us in two days from my call. We took the rig in and had the refrigerator diagnosed. Need new fridge. Shawn was awesome during the whole ordeal. They took care of the warranty process and had the fridge in two weeks. The fridge was soon in our camper and we were back in business two days after the appointment date the first RV shop gave us. You will have to work to find worse customer service. We bought our new 5th wheel there 2 years ago. The buying process was pleasant and enjoyable. Since then it has been all down hill. The older lady at the front desk seems inconvenienced to look away from her phone to lend any assistance, sounds rude when you call as well. The service department is not familiar with their products or how they work. I had an individual tell me they don't make a fan cover as I was looking at it on the camping world website as I was standing in front of him. I have been to the store approximately 10 times since buying the camper and never have I thought the retail department was either helpful or gave a good customer experience. Never again will I step foot in a camping world. There are far better options in the Rapid City area to give your business. I was contacted by camping world and they pointed out that my review did not address the events from yesterday that prompted the final straw. I initially thought I would keep the review short and to the point instead. I bought a surge guard, surge protector from camping world about 2 years ago which decided not to work when we took it out in August. I went to camping world the following morning to exchange it. They looked it up by my good sam membership and said I could not exchange and would have to go through the company, which I was initially fine with. I contacted the company and they asked to send them the product for repair with a copy of the receipt, which I was told I didn't need while I was at camping world the first time. I Went back to camping world to get the receipt and noticed the 2 year protection plan that I purchased had not expired when I was there to exchange it the first time. I spoke to a retail member who apologized for the confusion and said that there was nothing they could do at that point. obviously frustrated, I left and said enough is enough. I did get a call concerning my review from one of the individuals I spoke to yesterday. They told me that they would like to make it right and are willing to now exchange the surge protector. I simply said that I am fine to send in the unit instead of driving 50 mins round trip for the 3rd time. What a disappointment, i drove up from Omaha NE to buy a used Keystone Everest, when we did the walk through, no one tried the air conditioning, which didnt work when i came back home to Nebraska. The unit had a previous tire blow out which tore up the underneath of the rv. The slide outs where in the out position above the wheels so i didnt notice this. The GFCI was bad causing the fridge not to work, i found this out at home also. Ive tried to contact Kristina, my sales person who will not return my calls. All i wanted after i fixed many issues, was to to have the rapid city camping world send me the 1 foot by 3 feet material to repair the underside of the rv. Not asking much after the worst service ive ever had. This was my 6th rv ive purchased. I had no idea a business of this size would take advantage of me. If you purchase an rv there make sure you check ever outlet, air conditioning, furnace, water lines and tank, underneath the unit for damage from tires blowing out. Check every light, fan, fridge, sinks for leaks, ect. I waited a month after my purchase to write this, still no one has returned my calls. Worst ever when it comes to customer service. I worked there and I can't even get a call back for a customer to help set an appointment for service. I have called the Service manager the sales manager and the General manager to no avail. The customer has some medical issues and needed so help on timing. Awful experience they showed us the new model travel trailer and agreed on a price went back the next day they tried to switch it out with the old model that was weathered vent on the back was falling off the propane holder was hanging on by a thread. Said they couldn't do that price and started adding about 4k of other stuff onto it. The inside was dirty put in a different DVD player carpet was all torn up and many other things. This is a warning to unsuspecting coustomers or more accurately victims: We purchased a motorhome from this dealership in November of 2017. Because we were traveling from another state to purchase, it was necessary for us to rely on the representations assurances of the sales person we worked with prior to arriving at the dealership to finalize the sale. Imagine my predicament when upon inspection of the motorhome, having flown in from afar at great expense to myself, there were a number of obvious issues with the motorhome that were not disclosed to me by the sales person. I was assured that the obvious issues, that I demanded be corrected before I completed the sale, were addressed. In the months that have followed, we have spent thousands of dollars properly repairing these and a number of other issues that have surfaced with the motorhome. Most of which were clearly disguised to prevent detection. Instead of repairing the undisclosed issues I demanded be addressed before completing the sale; They deliberately disguised the broken components, including using electrical tape to disguise a failed plumbing line valve to keep it from leaking just long enough for them to lie to my face about having fixed it, and assuring me that they had inspected it and found there was no damaged components. Naturally this ended up failing as they knew it would eventually, causing serious undetected water damage to the coach. Seriously, it was a $30 part they could and should have replaced, and told me they had inspected. It litterally would have taken less time to replace the part, than to disguise it and then spending the time they did weaving the elaborate explanation for the indications of the problem that they had ivestigatedthe problem insisted did not require repair. The sales person and "service technician" involved in this sale (and they know who they are) are no better than conmen and frauds. Anyone considering purchasing a motorhome from this dealership should know that these are their practices, and the kind of people you are dealing with. In hindsight it is apparent that the predators working at this dealership have and will take advantage of anyone gullible enough to fall into their deceit. They can not be trusted. Beware! Search instead for a reputable dealer in your area, that can not use your need to travel to their destination to finalize the purchase or good nature, as a means of taking advantage of you. read more

We purchased a Keystone Montana 5th wheel in December of 2018. We knew there would be a learning curve for both my wife and I. We also expected there would be problems that would need to be resolved and sure enough we were not to be disappointed. Overall, considering the complexity of a 5th wheel, things went fairly well. The only major problem was the refrigerator failed to work on power or lp gas. In my opinion, the testing process to determine the problem was flawed and took considerably more time than it should have, but part of this problem was due to the manufacturer's requirements. The manufacturer's ordering process also leaves a lot to be desired from my viewpoint. The shipping of the part from manufacturer was a joke in that there was no traceable tracking number. Once the part finally arrived, the service was great. Was there problems that I could see from my side of the counter? Yes, but I was one of a continuous flow of customers that wanted there problems resolved immediately, or sooner if possible. Seriously though, the overall performance of the service department was adequate, while the performance of management was great. Would I make another high dollar purchase here again? If I could choose zero stars, I would. Absolutely no customer service at all. My parents bought a brand new $60k fifth wheel, and the first time they used it, none of the electrical functions worked. They stopped by the shop to have it looked at, and the service guy couldn't even be bothered to check the battery. He told my parents to bring it back after their vacation, and he'd take a look. We have been dealing with this place for almost 3 years, and after they sell you a camper, they want nothing to do with you on the service end. Customer service is awful, I would hate to inconvenience any of their staff. They don't greet you, as the receptionist was too busy looking up a recipe on her screen. The parts department is the worst by far. If it's not something easy for them to figure out, they don't go out of their way to help you get what's needed. They are more than happy to send you on your way so you aren't their problem. Every time I go in there, I don't think it can get any worse, but each time it does.
