Absolutely the worst. Definitely not enough help. The front desk was friendly but extremely over worked. Breakfast? What breakfast! The waffle mixture was runny and the waffles, yuck. No individual butter packets. Open container! Does that even meet code? I had reserved 4 rooms (see review by Sarah T). My credit card statement now shows an extra $224 in room charges. I waited in line for over an hour to check into our room. My credit card had already been charged for the stay before we even checked in. When we got to our room there was a film of some kind of white film (cleaner maybe?) on the bottom of our door and I had to scrub it off so my dog didn't lick it. Our room had one bath towel for five people. It was the only towel we received during our stay. When I went to the front desk and asked for more towels I was given some wash rags (that were stained) and a floor mat. My kids tried to go swimming and use the water slide, but the pool was murky, smelly, and cold. A few hours after we checked in I received a phone call from the hotel asking if I had a reservation and letting me know that they were sorry but the hotel was overbooked for the night. I had to inform them that I had already checked in and paid for my room...where I was sitting talking to them on the phone. The "hot" breakfast in the morning was a joke. They ran out of food and I saw one of the other guests making coffee. The juice machine was broken and I'm not sure how you can screw up donuts but they did. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years and this was the absolute worst. Do not stay here, save your money. I should have slept in my truck. One star for being pet friendly. read more

The staff is very unprofessional as I sat on the lobby computer the staff was talking about their drug use. The housekeeping is terrible, fruit flies were everywhere. They served the same breakfast everyday, which was usually overcooked eggs, dry biscuits, and sub par gravy. The coffee tasted dish water, and the acting GM had her loud obnoxious kid there the entire time she was on the clock. The linens were dirty, the cable in the room kept going out to the point where I was messing with the chords to try and get a signal. The phone only worked half the time, and when it did work there was horrible reception. Save yourself $ and book a room at the Motel 6 across the street. read more

We stayed at the Dakotah Lodge for one night on 08/27/14. This hotel was such a nice surprise. Our room was newly remodeled and very nice. There was a work station, a big leather chair with accompanying ottoman, a mini fridge, microwave, and a cute baby coffeemaker. The bed was so comfortable that I hated to crawl out of it in the morning. The bedding appears to be of a lightweight type which can be laundered between every customer instead of the icky bedspreads that are reused over and over that you find at other hotels. The included breakfast is in a very cute country kitchen setting and the food was standard hot breakfast bar type food that is found in hotels, but still very good. There is a wonderful courtyard with a fireplace that made me wish we were staying another night, so we could actually enjoy it (we arrived very late). The hotel is still hard at work remodeling their pool area, but it looks like it will be a good time when it is completed. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. Also of note, our room had a slight "chemical" like smell upon first entering the room that I think came from the new carpet, but it was very slight and not noticeable after just a few minutes. I'm sure the problem will dissipate after a short time. If I find myself in the Sioux Falls area again, I look forward to staying at the Dakotah Lodge read more

Stopped in here on the way to somewhere else and was pleasantly surprised.. First of all, the price was reasonable: then the pool was a big hit with my kids. Internet excellent, It was raining and cold(June 9, 2013) our room was freezing and was told central heating off because it's Summer. No safety tape etc. In the shower, a real liability issue. The rooms on the outer perimeter have there own AC/Heater in there rooms. Loud noises like an airplane airport nearby. I heard many customer complaining . Just heard one say...I want this room cleaned or give me a different room. The ceiling in the washer/dryer is falling down.. Maybe they feel many travelers don't wash clothes. read more

I prepaid for my room in advance to make check in easier. It was worth it. I signed on the dotted line and bam got the keys to our room. Check in staff was very friendly and welcoming. I noticed the lobby sitting/meeting area was very accommodating and a nice place to just chill or have s business meeting. Upon entering our room, I was happy to see it nicely decorated, clean and ready for us. Tv signal was great! With a good variety of channels to choose from. They have a great courtyard with a gas bbq and fire ring for cozy nights out doors. They have a great pool and jacuzzi for adults as well as a kiddy pool for the wee ones. The water slide was getting lots of action too. The free breakfast was great for a good start to the day. Scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, you make fresh waffles, ice cold juices, cereal, hot and cold, bagels, English muffins... just a great variety BUT... no bacon! Hey guys we need bacon. The price was very affordable and this place stands head to head with the much pricier hotels in the area. It is easy to find just off the freeway and very convenient to all. Have GPS to get around. I would have been lossed without it. When I went to check out, my bill was waiting for me to pick it up and again the front desk help was very friendly. BEWARE - this place is awful. I originally booked this spot as it was going to be a great place for my kids to swim and relax after a long day on the road. I am so sorry that I did. The place is filthy, they are understaffed, and no one cares to listen to your comments and respond. Sadly I went off of what Expedia said...I should have read YELP. When we arrived, the manager was telling a new person a few tips on using the computer and then she left - with a line of people. I was 2nd in line, after 20 minutes of waiting, I was next. The man working the desk said he had to run to see what room(s) might be ready. (mind you - it was 7pm by this time - way past their determined check in time) He literally left the desk and went running around the hotel. He came back 10 minutes later saying he had a room available. We then got the bad news that the pool and slide we were looking forward to was closed for the next 2 days. We get to the room and it is filthy. There were granola bar crumbs on the bathroom floor, hairballs in the shower and sink, the sheets had NOT been changed, the ice container had a bug in it, we had no tissues in the container and no soap, and I could go on and on. Since we were tired and it was late, we got the blankets from our car and put them on top of the beds and slept that way. We got up early to just get out of the dirty environment and went to tell the woman at the desk about our horrible experience. She asked if we were staying for breakfast. That was not going to happen as I'm sure the place they prepare the food is disgusting, bug-ridden and filthy, too. I told her that I did not feel that I owed them full price and she agreed after hearing what our room and experience had been like. She assured me she would have a manager contact me. Guess what? No one has EVER called me and it has been over a month. I have left phone messages and emails. NO RESPONSE. Great customer service, right? I see now that I received my credit card statement that they indeed charged me FULL PRICE. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. It is terrible! read more

The best that can be said about Brimark Inn is that it is inexpensive, and the staff is friendly. Our room stank of cigarette smoke. The room was touted as having two queen beds and a refrigerator, of which it had neither (two full beds, but still). Additionally, we were there on a Saturday night. Apparently Saturday night is when the local kids drive into the city, get a hotel room, and hit the bars. There was noise all night long, made worse by the fact that our room was situated adjacent to an outside door used by the young turks coming and going. My entire family had a restless night. Also, there appeared to have been renovations ongoing, as the pool and hot tub were closed and there was plaster all over the hallway floor. We had heard good things about this hotel, but weren't expecting too much for the price. However, it failed to live up to even these meager expectations. read more

This is by far the wrist hotel I've ever stayed at. The women at the front desk have ZERO customer service skills. The heater in our hotel started smoking and set off the smoke alarm. When I told the owner about all this he REFUSED to apologize or get his employees to apologize. I told him I did NOT want a refund only an apology and instead he gave me a refund and NO apology. Also, sign out front says "welcome pool open" but the slide (main attraction) was closed. Would NEVER stay there again. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! We checked in last night around 12:30 AM, traveling cross country on our way home. Upon arrival, I find out that there is no hot water and hasn't been for days. I get the room keys for our two rooms and our family of 7 makes our way through the hallway to our rooms. Upon opening the door of the first room we are greeted with lights on and the beds not made?! We then open the door to our other room and find the same scenario??!! I leave my very tired family in the hallway and wind my myself back to the front desk. The lady was nice enough, complained about their cleaning staff and offered to get us two new rooms (we were creeped out by the whole situation but it's 12:30 at night so who wants to go looking for a new hotel)...she gets new room keys and goes with me back to the same hallway. She opens the first door and, once again, same scenario...lights on and beds unmade. We head to the next room and this time the lights and tv are on but beds are made. She straightens our one of the beds a little and tells me this one is ready to go. I very hesitantly accept the room and tell my family to pile in while I go with the lady to get a key for yet another new room. I meet her in the lobby and let her know that this is the weirdest most disturbing thing I have ever encountered in a hotel (we travel a lot!). We once again head back that same hallway and open the door to another room. This one is surprisingly clean and looks a little more updated. Let me just pause a minute and state that this hotel is in rough shape with water stains all over the ceiling, nasty carpet and a really funky smell. I send my son and two daughters into the most recent bedroom since it was the nicest and so they could go to bed. I make a comment to the lady about wanting a free room and she said she can give me 10% off... I head to the other room and met at the door by my husband and other two daughters telling me that the floor is full of food!! I inspect and sure enough, there are crackers and cereal pieces all over the floor (we looked under the bed...not a good idea...disgusting!!!). I pull back the covers and find black hair on the "clean" sheets. I'm decide that this is just too much and start heading down the hall to figure out what my options are (by this time it is 1:00 AM and we are needing to be up at 7 for the rest of our drive home). I am met by the front desk lady, coming down our hall, telling us to follow her and she will give us an upgrade for no charge...wow, how generous... The room was nicer (relatively speaking) but the bathroom did not have any clean bath towels and there was no toilet paper or even a holder. At this point I just wanted some sleep so I told the lady that I want to be reimbursed for the two rooms in the morning. She told me to talk to the manager that would be in by 7:30. We all went to bed and got our 5 hours of sleep. I did talk to the manager who said she would give me a refund but I had to call Hotwire and have them call her. In the end I got my money back but the experience was the worst thing I've ever experienced at a hotel. The front desk lady from the night shift did apologize often and said that they have new owners (that live in CA), she was just hired a few weeks ago and that their cleaning staff is not doing their job. Another lady staying at the hotel told me that her toilet didn't work. All I can say is READ THE REVIEWS of this place and DO NOT stay here!! read more

I was really looking forward to staying here. It looks great from the outside, and the pictures on the website look wonderful. So much for believing the pictures. When you first enter the hotel there's a nice sitting area on your right with a fireplace and comfortable seating. So far so good. Then we went to the room. We stayed in room 110. What a shock! The room is smaller than I expected, about the size of one in a Super 8 motel, and it was dirty! We told the girl at the front desk that the bathroom floor was sticky, and she came down and mopped it. But the rugs throughout the room hadn't been vacuumed. My husband checked under the bed and found things that had obviously been left behind by several different occupants. We had two queen beds, but there's only one night stand. The bureau had three drawers, but it was very small. The tv that is on top of it takes up all of the space so you can't put anything up there. The microwave is on top of the refrigerator, and the coffeemaker is on top of that. The desk is small and has no drawer. There's a 1' square shelf on the wall. I don't know what that's supposed to be for. All of the electrical appliances are plugged into extension cords or extension plugs. The bathroom is small. There are a couple of shelves, but they have the washcloths and towels on them, so there's not a lot of room for toiletries. They advertise that they have a year-round water park in the swimming area, but there's no heat in there so it's unusable during the winter. False advertising. read more

After a change of camping plans due to rain, we found ourselves looking for a room in Sioux Falls during the Sturgis Bike Rally. It was after 9 pm, we had two kids in the car, and everything was sold out. The places with vacancies had terrible Yelp reviews and we didn't know what to do. We are so lucky that we found Brimark Inn. The room was clean & inexpensive ($75 for two beds, on a weekend), and had free wifi. The place could use some upkeep (our toilet seat was off the hinge, eg), but my main concern was cleanliness, and it was great. There's a free continental breakfast in the morning (pastries, milk, yogurt, waffles, cereal), and the staff was polite. A great find for an overnight on I-90. read more

Great place to stay.. room was everything that I had been told it would be. The newly remodeled rooms are very attractive. The breakfast was great, as well as the décor... country look was great. My only complaint was when checking out. I stood for approximately 15 minutes while the attendant continued to answer the phone, visiting too much with whomever was on the phone. She should have put the calls on hold for a bit and checked me out, which only took like 15 seconds when she finally waited on me. I wouldn't stay here again. The rooms were OK but I booked this hotel so the kids could swim. I have family that lives near by. They came to visit with me while the kids were swimming but were kicked out. We were told you need a bracelet to be in the pool area even if you were just watching. I asked if I could purchase guest brackets and was told no. It was ridiculous. So unfortunately I did not get to see my mom and sister because my kids wanted to swim. They also kicked out another person's parents who were taking pictures of the grandchildren swimming. read more

We reserved this hotel to enjoy the water park with our children. The website states that the water park can be reserved for parties on SUNDAYS from 1-3 pm or from 3:30-5:30. So imagine the unpleasant surprise when we came to the water park at 1:30 on SATURDAY to find 2 HUGE parties going on. 1 birthday party full of young "tweens" and then an anniversary party of all ages. The pool was so overcrowded, it was ridiculous. There were 40+ people in the pool (and it is not as big as it looks in the pictures)There were kids throwing a football the entire length of the pool, coming within inches of hitting my kids. I asked them to be careful, and it was like talking to a wall. No parental supervision on any of them. My husband and I wanted to enjoy the hot tub, but at one point, there were 17 people in the hot tub...and they were mostly children. One was a girl of not more than 2 years old. She was not in a swim diaper. She was in a regular diaper and little pieces of waterlogged diaper would fall off and float in the hot tub. GROSS. We paid good money to stay here and the water park that we so wanted to enjoy with our kids was a let down. The hotel room was ok, but when we were packing up, getting ready to check out, my son was looking for his toy and looked under the bed and pulled out an inflated blue balloon....so once again, GROSS. As a paying guest, I expect my hotel room to be THOROUGHLY cleaned. As you can see, the cleaning staff is not doing their job. Breakfast was good. read more

Great price, great hotel. Everything was clean. It's your basic hotel room, no bells or whistles. It did however have a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Which I've been to "4 star" hotels with neither of these. The free breakfast was great, lots of options, including biscuits and gravy! There were also eggs and a wafflemaker. They weren't over the top delicious, but I certainly enjoyed it. For the price you're paying, it's pretty legit. To address the airport noise from other reviewers, at night it was pretty non-existant. There were a couple in the morning hours and there was definitely some during the day. But it's not a major airport, so you don't have it constantly all day and night. It didn't bother us any. I myself didn't test out the Wi-Fi, but my mom did and she didn't seem to have any issues with it. The staff was VERY friendly, lots of good mornings and smiles when we went to have breakfast. They were in the middle of building a pool outside while we were there, so that will be an added perk when it's complete. I would stay here again! read more
