    Lunch special

Love this place! They have the best lunch special! All of their food is mouth watering delicious! I never finish always have to go containers! Love the Samosas and the chutney! Their garlic naan bread is amazing as well. I'm really big on spicy food so I always ask for it super spicy and man do they deliver! If I could come here for lunch everyday I would. The staff who handle front of house I think are the owners. They are very sweet and so helpful. They check to make sure you're liking everything and get your food served quick. The place is pretty quiet. It does look liked construction or run down in the back corner by the bathroom but honestly the food is so worth it.

Second time here and just as delicious as the first. Recommend this place not only is the food always delicious, but the lady who serves the food she is like the sweetest woman. I feel like she is my Indian mother. She always sends me out with a little extra some thing which is just the sweetest thing it makes me feel like I'm at home.

Hello fellow, foodies! I know Dakshin has been around for a while, but I recently discovered them a couple months ago, and I've been here twice. The first time I was here I ate outside and it was such a lovely day to do so, so I didn't get to spend much time inside. For this review, I ate inside, and I can tell you that the place is just very beautifully decorated. it has more of a darker ambience to it, and the music is not too loud but there is that wonderful Indian feel to it. They have jars with spices that line the wall and a nice bar that you can go to and have a couple drinks if you would prefer. Both times that I've been here, we were served by the same woman, and she is the sweetest thing. She reminds me of the mother figure who makes sure you're eating enough. She's such a gracious hostess. We ordered from their lunch menu and we were greeted with these small morsels of a verity of different foods: the main dish being what we ordered. I couldn't tell you want anything was but I LOVED that! When I was in the Middle East, they did this same thing so it's a little nostalgic for me. I don't think there was a single thing I didn't like. I also like the fact you get to choose your protein selection. I chose goat and it was fabulous. If you've never had goat, I recommend trying it here. It was cook so well. Mild flavor that took on the Butter Masala dish and it left me wanting more. Come and check this place out the next time you're feeling adventurous.

Came here for their lunch platter after much recommendation and oh my god it did not disappoint. First of all, look at this picture! Super generous with the food and love the little variety of sides they surprise you with. Also, it's hard to find a place in CBus with as good goat curry, but they were on-point with the South Indian curries. The medium was a good amount of spice for me and the naan and rice were good portions to the curry that you get. Also the owner and the waitress were super nice and checked on us multiple times. Not super crowded during the lunch hour either. Would def be back for more noms!

Fantastic food. I ordered paneer tikka masala, some samosas and a lassi and it was a taste sensation. I've only been in the restaurant to pick up orders but the decor is pretty cool. The people who run the place are pretty chill too. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Indian food.

Folks, I may have found my new #1 favorite Indian food spot! A friend and I picked this place, as Bubbly Hall just looked, well, dead. One lady was running front of house - great, friendly personality. Their menu is full of offerings, descriptions, and pictures. Multiple things popped out, so we tried their Chicken Somosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Shahi Korma (chicken), Cabbage Poriyal, and Paneer Naan. I loved their Korma sauce - coconut milk and cashews, mmm. And the chicken chunks were very manageable size-wise and very tender (these two descriptions don't always go together when associated with Indian and Chinese food, as many times the chicken is tough/gritty or overcooked). The cabbage dish was delicious, too. Not salty, per se, but definitely spiced, I can see how it may come across as salty, but I liked the flavor nonetheless. Slopping it all up with India's take on cheesy bread, the naan was the perfect "utensil". Sorry for no pics, but trust me!

I've lived in Atlanta for almost 30 years and never found an Indian restaurant that got it right. Then I stumbled onto Taj on Fifth in Columbus, Ohio on a business trip, and it might be the best Indian meal I've had outside of home. The lamb chops were incredible... I single-handedly finished the entire order and have no regrets. The butter chicken was the real thing: creamy, properly spiced, none of the honey-sweetened version so many restaurants pass off as authentic. The garlic naan was thin and crispy on the outside, yet soft and chewy in that perfect way you only get from a real tandoor. I'm a 100-pound woman who typically can't finish a single entree, let alone two. Most Indian food is so heavy and greasy that I'm done after a few bites. Here, I polished off a full order of lamb chops and half the butter chicken and garlic naan... one and a half entrees, solo, no help. ‍ Rich, properly balanced, and never heavy. That's rare! The service made the meal even better. My server, Deepak, struck that perfect balance...attentive without hovering. Turns out he's actually the owner and the chef behind the menu, and he took ten minutes tableside to chat with me. We realized he trained at IIHM in Hyderabad, which happens to be my hometown. That explains everything... the food isn't just made with passion, it's made with real technical training behind it. I also had the Jasmeen Dream cocktail, which was a great pairing. If you're anywhere near Columbus, this is a must. I'm already trying to figure out an excuse to go back.

When we walked in, the restaurant was filled with happy diners, many of whom appeared to be of Indian descent--which is always a great sign when you're looking for authentic Indian food. We ordered the classic butter chicken and beef korma (we substituted beef for the lamb), along with the garlic naan. The garlic naan was perfect--crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and the perfect vehicle for scooping up all that delicious curry and getting it straight into my happy belly! The sauces were absolutely amazing and packed with flavor. The servers were also very friendly, attentive, and professional, which made the experience even better. We were really happy with our experience at Taj on 5th and so glad we stumbled upon it while searching Yelp for great restaurants nearby. Definitely a wonderful find and a place we'd happily return to!

I love trying new restaurants instead of the same old chain spots, and we happened to come across Café Zupas. Their sign said "Soup, Salad & Sandwich Kitchen," and since those are three of my favorite things, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was bright, clean, and very welcoming. The menu boards had beautiful photos of the food, which definitely caught our attention. My only small complaint is that the menu doesn't include descriptions of what's on each sandwich or salad. Thankfully, the young lady behind the counter was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions. She even shared her two favorite menu items and explained them in detail. She recommended the Brisket Grilled Cheese with smoked brisket, provolone and Muenster cheese, sliced tomato, BBQ sauce, all served on ciabatta bread, along with the Chicken Chipotle Salad loaded with fresh mixed greens, roasted chicken, red onions, tomatoes, fire-roasted corn, black beans, tri-colored peppers, cheddar cheese, avocado, tortilla strips, chipotle ranch, and a honey cilantro glaze. Both sounded too good to pass up, so I ordered the "Try Two" combo, which includes a full sandwich and your choice of a half soup or half salad. Let me tell you... these are NOT normal half portions! My meal was enormous. As an added bonus, every meal came with a warm roll and a complimentary chocolate-dipped strawberry. I also grabbed a lemonade to wash everything down. The presentation was fantastic, and as a former chef, it takes a lot to impress me. But wow... I was genuinely surprised. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, with layers of flavor in every bite. The brisket grilled cheese was outstanding, and the Chicken Chipotle Salad was packed with fresh ingredients and had just the right amount of kick. The warm roll and chocolate-covered strawberry were such thoughtful finishing touches that made the experience feel even more special. My wife ordered the Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich with the Tomato Bisque, and she loved every bite. Before we left, the manager mentioned that everything is made from scratch in their open-concept kitchen, which made perfect sense after tasting the food. It's not often we discover a restaurant that checks every box--friendly staff, fresh made-from-scratch food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere--but Café Zupas absolutely did. We may have just found our new favorite lunch spot, and I can honestly say I'll be back again and again. Highly recommended!
