A friend of a friend had told me that the food they make is from his region so I decided to try it! I ordered veg dum biryani, chicken mughalai, and veg samosas. Sooo good! Great flavors. The ambiance here isn't great but the food is quite good. For appetizers we got paneer 65, chicken lollipops, and gobi manchurian. The paneer and chicken were excellent- very crispy and tasty. But the gobi manchurian was my pet peeve- a tangy ketchup like sauce that drowns the cauliflower. That's a no for me- gobi manchurian in the West often takes on this tangy ketchup taste which is just wrong. For dinner we got: Chicken dum biryani Veggie dum biryani Bagara baingan Chicken mughalai They were all great, especially the chicken mughalai. Bawarchi has some great Indian food around Dublin area. Once the top restaurants for Indian food I can vouch for as Indian. My top favorite are Chicken Mandakini Avakai chicken Biryani Dum Chicken Biryani Ulvacharu Chicken Biryani They also do have Indian flavor pizzas like chicken tikka masala pizza etc. Service can be a hit or miss depending on days. Friday dinner time is the worse rush time for them which can make service slower and them to mess up your orders. Check your orders and order ahead of time to avoid chaos Ambiance is family style with decent seating for larger to small groups If you are looking for Indian food please check them out. read more

This wasn't great. We stopped in because I was craving Samosas and wanted to grab something light before dinner. So I wound up ordering the chicken samosas and two chicken lollipops. I'm not sure what was going on with the guys working there but I got the feeling the one working the register was trying to get over on me. Their menu says the chicken samosas come with six pieces. When I asked for them he said they didn't have chicken, so I told him the veggie ones would be fine. Someone else came out of the kitchen and said they were making more chicken ones, if I wanted it it would be a few minutes. No problem, I had time to wait. The guy at the register tells me it would only come with 4 pieces, I could have sworn the menu said six, but I wasn't about to argue. When I do get the food, there is indeed six pieces in there. Now for the taste, the lollipops were fine, they were fried very well, did not have much spice or flavor, but I figured since I ordered it off the kids menu maybe that's why they went bare on the seasonings. I didn't get to the samosas right away and wound up having to reheat mine. The shell or dough was a lot different from other samosas I've had, and reheating it turned the whole thing into a puddle of oil. It was hard to taste anything other than the insane amount of grease on it. The inside is a little dingy and needs some remodeling. The servers were not rude or anything, it was just a strange interaction with them. I'm not sure how any of their other food tastes, but based on the appetizers, there are better places around for Indian food. read more

Came on a late Friday night. Got seated right away. We ordered the goat dosa and goat biryani. The Dosa was crispy. The biryani was flavorful. For drinks we got a beer and mango lassi. All were good and flavorful, but there is a lot of competition in the area and this doesn't stand out. I'm not sure if this is an establishment that we need to go up to the counter to ask for things or if the server was supposed to come to us. But we had to go to the counter for take out boxes and our water was never refilled. read more

I went here last week. I ordered Tandori chicken, butter chicken and chicken Manchurian I can honestly say that this was probably the single worst Indian food I've ever had. All of the chicken seemed old. Tandoori chicken didn't smell right and meat seemed old. Butter chicken seasoning totally off bad even Manchurian chicken tastes just old and off. I think this place is solid. I ordered egg masala to go since it's the Covid era. I guess they received a lot of orders at once because it took pretty long for the food to be ready. I was disappointed that my dish didn't come with rice, I'm not sure if this was a mistake or how they usually sell it, but every other Indian restaurant I've been to would give you rice with this dish. I wanted a little spice so I got medium, and while I could eat it, I had to drink a lot of water because it was a little hotter than I'd like. I wish they had a level between mild and medium. I did however love that they gave me a bunch of eggs! Some places skimp on the eggs but they did not. It's great that this area has so many options for Indian food. This is probably one of my favorite places to visit for lunch when I'm in the Sawmill area. They are located right off of 270 and there is plenty of parking available. There is a regular dining room and then a banquet area as well. I have only visited the regular dining room during lunch. Overall, it is a very casual no frills restaurant. There are Indian music videos playing on multiple TVs and lots of natural light coming from the big glass windows. They have a lot of large tables, every time I've visited, there was a good amount of tables open and available. I've ordered the Chicken Thali and Vegetable Thali - I would highly recommend both of them. The Thali comes with numerous curries and side dishes as well as a biryani and naan. You can get refills of the Thali, but if you do, they will not let you take any leftovers away. I generally do not get refills because I like to take my leftover biryani home for dinner. The curries in the Thali only come in one spice level but you can get the biryani in mild spice. The curries that are included in the Thali range from not spicy to very spicy. ( I am able to handle a good amount of spice but one of the curries in my vegetable Thali was very spicy) The Thali is only served during lunch on weekdays if you dine in, any other time you can only get Thali to go. read more

Since the last review was about a year ago, i assume things have changed. It was packed for lunch. We were the only non-Indian people there. So I guess it is enjoyed by many Indian ex-pats. What a fantastic meal we all had. To one comment, yes it did take a bit, 20 mins. or so. Not the pre made Olive Garden frozen and heat up method of running a restaurant. Boo hoo. We conversed and enjoyed. Usually I find soups an after thought, leftover dish. Not here. The hot and sour chicken soup was layer upon layer of flavor. Honestly, I would have been happy with that and rice. I got the Guntur Idli, as I had never heard of it. Nice patties with an interesting texture somewhere between doughy and grainy. Served with a couple nice sauces that complimented, not overwhelmed them. Also had the Pakoras, by far the best I have ever had, with both a sweet and savory cutney. The real star of the meal, however, was a dish my friend ordered, And no, none of us remembers the name. Sorry. Gongura, perhaps? It had chopped hibiscus in it. That is how I will find it next time there. It was in the "goat" section of the menu, that had both goat and mutton. I've got Indian friends who say this is "good" Indian food... but not the best. But I love me some Biryani and they are close, so these guys get the nod every time, and I've never been disappointed. The portions are ample, the protein options cover the bases, and the food is served hot, flavorful and well spiced. There are times I will sample other offerings, and I haven't found anything I wouldn't order again. Bawarchi's offers a wide range of foods from Northern and Southern India, which sounds great but I'm not versed well enough to appreciate the differences. I feel like I could eat here three times a week for a year and still not have tried the foll scope of their menu. If only I could make it beyond the Biryani... Funny story... on one occasion a buddy and I dropped in for dinner. We both enjoyed the dinners, and when the server came by and asked how was everything, I leaned back and said two thumbs up (while giving her the requisite sign). She looked a little puzzled and walked away, returning a few moments later with two small cans of soda. I thought... how nice to give us a couple complimentary cans of soda on our way out. I do not know Indian food. Is it authentic? Prepared "the correct way"? With the right spices? I am not the person to ask. What I know is, my go to Indian place has been closed down during covid and I have been searching for a replacement. A simple ask - garlic naan, chicken tikka masala. Basic white dude order, I assume. Samosas. Medium spicy since it's my first time here. Pickup, because Covid. Quoted 30 minutes. I arrive - food is ready. Masks mandatory. Hand sanitizer by the cash register. I was in - and the cashier is on the phone, tapping on their order pad - clearly i showed up in a busy time - and another gentleman popped over, checked my receipt, slid my order to me, and I was on my way. All good so far. Interior is nothing special - tables and booths, spread out. Not super large, but they had a banquet hall attached, so I suppose in healthier times they could fill that up? I don't know, first time here, stop grilling me. Again. My order, pretty basic. The samosas were perfect, potato and pea flaked crust. The garlic naan was nothing more special, but it did it's job. The chicken tikka - I think this is the first time I have had it where it felt like the vegetables were more pronounced in the dish - which was EXTREMELY nice. Not just meat, sauce, rice. But vegetable! The sauce was perfectly flavorful and just creamy enough for me to sate my need. It was a good serving - I mean, I'm a big dude, and I made it half way through it before calling it "leftovers." So all in all, it met my needs, it's not too far, they were good on their time quote, and the food met my "want" from my order. I would give a 3.5 if the star system allowed, but it was not a 3 star since it tasted good. Ordering online seemed simple, but we had a mixup with our order. Apparently even if it says "included" you have to select it to be included. I assumed rice was included since it was labeled as such and chose to upgrade my naan to garlic for 75 cents. Somehow this turned into me only wanting naan and no rice with my meal. They were cool with us ordering rice on the spot when we realized what had happened (we had to pay for it, so not included). Other than that, the food tasted great. I ordered chicken tikka masala and it didn't look how I'm used to it looking from other restaurants. It was at the spice level I ordered so I assume it was correct. I got "spicy" rather than "spicy hot" (the hottest option) and I think I would have preferred it hotter. Got the chicken biryani family pack and while the taste did evoke the flavors of home, the quantity was disappointingly small. The packaging was subpar, reflecting a lack of care. The sides like raitha and salan were watered down to the point of being nearly tasteless. They also threw in a so-called dessert, payasam, but it was more like a pathetic excuse for a vermicelli cake and served in a miserly portion. They really need to up their game, unless their only claim to fame is their biryani. read more

We got food delivered from Bawarchi yesterday using GrubHub. The delivery was very smooth. Everything arrived on time (in fact before time) and they dropped the food on the front porch and texted me. The Hyderabadi dum goat biryani was excellent and easy to reheat in the oven at home. The chicken tikka masala that we ordered home actually tasted better than the one we ate at the restaurant itself. The saag paneer was very good as well. The entree portions (with the exception of the biryani) were smaller than expected. I would say that was the only complaint. The naan was pretty good as well. Each entree comes with an option of white rice or naan, and we got naan on one and white rice with the other. All in all an outstanding experience. I'm really glad to see that these mom and pop restaurants are still able to stay afloat in these trying times. read more

We frequent this restaurant since they were open as they used to serve excellent Indian food and very close to where we live. Unfortunately they have really gone down hill and it seems that they prefer to be a take out only restaurant. That is why I'm heart broken to give it only 1 star. The indoor dining experience has gone from bad to dismal. Even though the service has always been slow and inconsistent, recently customer service is completely zero. Four of arrived for dinner in a virtual empty restaurant, so we asked to be seated at a larger table (more elbow room) and proceeded to seat in a table for 6. One of the workers ( I assume the manager) told us, since we are seated on a table of six, even if there's only four of us, we were going to be changed an additional 15% service change for sitting at that table. He then rudely ushered us into one of their booth. Since, we never heard of this policy for this or any other restaurant, we asked our waiter, and he said that it is their policy. Service went further down hill from there. The food has gone from excellent to very mediocre now, and that's a shame. The Dosa that is usually served hot and crispy was cold and limp. All the other dishes were also served cold. I don't think they make these dishes made-to-order fresh anymore. They must be making in big batches including the dosa, and packing them out for take out. My advice is if, there are many good family owned Indian restaurants in Dublin that deserve your business. Do you and your wallet a favor and skip this place. read more

I hesitated to come here because they didn't seem quite open yet, and the reviews were all over the place. Turns out they had done a soft open and the grand opening is tomorrow, Saturday 2/4/17. The menu when I stopped in was fairly small; I thought it was just the lunch menu. The regular menu is huge, and there is a lot of interesting stuff on it. The space is smaller than I expected- part of it is a party room. It looks like it's a chain, from the signage and from poking around online. The experience and quality don't feel corporate, though. Very comfortable and welcoming. I would compare the food and atmosphere to Layla's, though this is quite a bit bigger. I've liked Indian food since I was a teenager. The parents of my high school best friend were from India, and his mom made us samosas to snack on while we were studying. At his graduation party there were tables full of food, almost none of which I could identify. I ate a ton anyway. I'm still no expert, but I have it whenever I can (Sweetie is not a fan) and enjoy the variety and flavors. Since biryani is in their name, I had some: Hyderabad goat biryani. I was cautioned that all the goat biryanis were all spicy, and I like spice but was cautious so I chose medium. It was hot enough to make me sweat, so be advised. Soft, long grain rice with lots of seasoning, mixed with tender, flavorful goat (with some bones.) I added garlic naan since I like it and wasn't sure of portion sizes; I didn't need it. Both items were plenty big enough, and very tasty. I did what I could to polish it all off, and failed. For the quality and quantity, prices are pretty good. Service was a little disorganized, but good. Several people checked on me, without being intrusive, and the food came out quickly. We regularly buy take out from here as it's on my way home from work. Over the years the quality have gone down. I ordered Vijayawada boneless biriyani. I prefer they say they are out of it like they said for chicken dum biriyani. They gave me possibly biriyani made from atleast a day old previously prepared fried chicken that really tasted stale. Also the rice was like someone prepared it without knowing how to cook. Going forward I will be reluctant to go back here unless they really put some effort in bringing up their standards. Incredible biryani. I have lived in Hyderabad and did not expect this good. Like Italian food, most Americans only know a couple regions of the vast cuisine. Indian is similar. We mostly see North Indian. This place brings some treats from South India like Dosa, Idli and Uthappam...and of course traditional Biryani. I challenged the owner (playfully) that I knew my Biryani and only liked the dish when slow cooked traditionally (VS the quick rice dish many restaurants do). This franchise of bawarchi's has never disappointed me. One of the best biryanis be it goat or chicken in columbus. Just to add in india Biryanis' can differ based on the person and its location. I am more fond of Bombay Styled biryanis because thats where i grew up. But in hyderabad the flavor is little spicier and hot. They usually serve it with a chillies sauce because their biryani is a little dry. Anyhow you can look up more on that. I tried the Hyderabi Dum biryani And Ulvacharu Goat Curry with Garlic Naan. Oh yeah Sweet Lassi(Yogurt Drink) as well. From what i know about biryani and being from india, they served a well made delicious biryani, sure the meat was a little less but i guess nowadays thats how they serve biryani. You will like every morsel of it and thats my guarantee The Goat Curry was tomato based and hot. So maybe if you are not fond of hotness you can maximum go to Medium Spicy level. Recently, I noticed this restaurant has gone down in standards and practices. es like providing substandard products is not acceptable. Never order Hakka noodles. The description is amazing, however, what we get is frozen mixed vegetables with more or less maggi 2-minute noodle. Sit-in dinner with plastic spoons with cheap napkins are not a good restaurant experience. I had the biggest issue with the billing - it was padded up and when i questioned, they said it was a mistake. This happened on Feriday April 22nd evening. I have a soft spot for any cuisine that features rice as a primary component of your meal, be it Chinese, Japanese, Cuban, Somali, Spanish, Italian, or in this case, Indian, which is how my wife and I ended up at Barwachi Biryanis at 9PM on a Saturday night recently. Despite our comparatively late dinner time, the place was full, mostly with Indian and Indian-American diners and their families, which is always a good sign if you're looking for Indian food that actual Indians enjoy eating. I had heard that Barwachi Biryanis was a national franchise, but I was pleased to see that it was still a little rough around the edges, and clearly not a member of the sleek focus-group-tested corporate franchise milieu of restaurants that is busily ruining the American food scene. Service was cheery and friendly, if a little discombobulated - they brought us someone else's entree before we had even ordered, forgot my wife's lassi order, and were slow with the check. But these were minor faults, all easily remedied by politely reminding them, and they were quick (and happy) to comply. If you're going to a place called Barwachi Biryani, clearly you should order the biryanis, which we did; specifically, the Hyderabadi Goat Dum Biryani and the Natukodi Chicken Biryani (the latter is only available on the weekends, and for those of you who care about this sort of thing, bone-in chicken). The biryanis are BIG; we had enough biryani for our dinner that night, and at least another two meals after that. They're mostly rice, with a modest amount of meat (most people in the world eat significantly less animal protein than the average American, and this is generally a good thing, both for their health and the planet's), but you could definitely taste the difference in spices between the two biryanis. The came with the traditional raita (yogurt condiment), but also a curry condiment, which was new to me. We also got the Guthi Vankaya, which was a nicely spiced eggplant curry. There's been a veritable explosion of Indian restaurants in Columbus in recent years, but for the time being, I think Bawarchi Biryanis is easily the best. So definitely check them out, and bring an empty stomach. read more

Not sure if it matters, but I feel like I also need to disclose the fact that I'm Indian. So, like, I KNOW Indian food. That being said, Bawarchi Biriyani may not be for you if: 1. You are looking for someplace with some ambiance. This place has zero ambiance. You come for the food. 2. You like Americanized "mild" Indian food. This place is pretty authentic and even the "mild" dishes have a fair amount of heat. 3. You're looking for a lunch buffet. No buffet here. It IS for you if: 1. You want fast, friendly service. We came once and every time after that the servers have recognized us and automatically bring us the sides of extra sauce we asked for on the first visit. 2. You like all kinds of Indian food. North. South. Indo-Chinese. You can get it all here and all of it is delicious. I love the chili paneer. The Tikka Masala. The Mysore Dosa and I LOVE THAT I CAN GET IT ONE SPOT! 3.
