Got it back engine making strange noises not going to drive it till a real professional takes a look at it next month in San Antonio men that live breathe and own TRI- FIVE cars. Greg's automotive is the worst shop I've ever dealt with and if you think his office is cluttered you should see the garage I should have looked at that before I let some fool work on my classic car. First of all, 1996 F250's only have a cutout in the bumper for one lamp so weren't even built to support two. Secondly, Texas Department of Public Safety Section 20.18 SubSec. 2c specifically states "Only one lamp is required" to pass inspection. This was verified on the "What's Inspected" list for trucks from DPS as well. Though this shop gets high rating my first visit was not positive and probably won't go back. That's unfortunate because I had a few small items that needed fixed and thought I'd have them done here to support a local business.

The alternator was just replaced by another shop last year, so I'm thinking voltage regulator? Rodrigo calls me late Friday to tell me he thinks it's the alternator shorting but wants to a full charge on the battery over night to make sure. Saturday he calls me to say it is the alternator but the root cause is the water pump, which is leaking and spraying the alternator. Monday night we picked it up - perfect, full explanation/demonstration of what he found, and reasonably priced work. We're not going anywhere else from here on out.

APRIL 2026- I took my 2023 Nissan car into Pan Am Automotive to have Jay put on new Nissan front end brake pads to include the hardware and shave the rotors . What his mechanic ended up doing was giving me generic brake pads not using new hardware and not shaving the rotors so here we are two days later and my front end brakes are still squeaking. I called back Jay on the phone told him that my brakes were still squeaking he stated to come back in he would charge me again just minus the labor he stated that I might need new rotors well clearly he should have done that work from the get-go and we wouldn't be in the situation but he wants to charge twice for brake pads and to put on hardware and rotors that wasn't in the original price. The price I paid was in the ballpark of $325 for him to put on generic brake pads with old hardware and not shaving the rotors if you're going to get a brake job you got to do it the correct way all the way not half ass . Days later I went into the Nissan dealership where the certified Nissan mechanic stated by looking at my brake pads that they were not Nissan brake pads and that the mechanic had used old hardware and did not shave the rotors down like he was supposed to hence the reason why they're still squeaking. So, no, Jay and his mechanic are not honest people.

They quoted me DOUBLE (talking about several thousands) what any other mechanic/specialist that I spoke to afterwards was quoting, and I heard from 3 different experts and got it professionally inspected by one other shop. It was thousands more than any other shop was quoting for the EXACT same thing. On top of that, they tried to get me to go back in to pay for the AC check (that was free as part of their promotion) and an oil change that they did not do (they even mentioned it would be done at time of repair in their technician notes)...but they were still trying to charge me for both. Wild. Unfortunately, they saw a woman, by herself, who doesn't know all there is to know about car servicing and tried to take advantage. It's a huge shame because I came to this place specifically because they market themselves as having fair and honest prices (and they were running a promotion...that they ultimately did not honor). Shameful place. Dishonest and exploitative. Please avoid.
