Have been a customer for almost 10 years. Their donuts taste the best to me. That being said, it is incredibly frustrating to always see the "inventory low" sign hanging out of the window when arriving at 10:00am, 30 minutes before they close. For a business only open 5 hours a day, inventory should be pretty well sorted out to have more than one rack of the donuts no one wants. This happens too often and I won't make the 20 minute drive anymore. I understand they donate what they don't sell and that's admirable. They also do not throw in extra donut holes like other donut shops. read more

My son LOVES their donut holes and I'm a huge fan of their Kolache's; but what really takes the cake for us is the outstanding customer service I've recieved every single time. They're round. Often times there's a hole in the middle. Some of theme have filling. Some, like Marie Antoinette, have cake. But ultimately, I'd wager that most of the patrons of Dales Donuts No. 9 (there's a Beatles joke in there somewhere) might well be on the make for that sort of regulating experience you want from your breakfast pastries on a weekend, namely, be what I expect you to be. Be quick. Don't get too creative. And on that front, I'd say they've largely succeeded. If you were wondering whether or not they were conjuring unique gastronomic delights at Dales No 9, all you might really need to ask is what they were doing at the first 8. My guess is something similar to my haul this day: an apple fritter, a blueberry cake donut, some OJ and a milk. There is, essentially, one person behind the counter whose job it is to keep things moving along -- she's almost a barker -- and the other employee tallies and rings. It doesn't make for a particularly warm breakfast experience, but from what I saw, no one seemed to consider the possibility of anything other than the turnkey breakfast they got. This is one of the best donut shops in Fort Worth and honestly better than most in Austin . The key is to get there early if you go by 10 am they do not have as much as they did earlier . The staff is very friendly and the quality is AMAZING! I am not a huge donut girl but I love having dales for breakfast and not to mention their kolaches ! You can't go wrong with anything here and the prices are great ! So go for a morning workout and then treat yourself to Dales bright and early , or bring it to someone you love ! Huge fan of this place for an early morning pick-me-up! The staff are always bright and cheery, which is exactly what I need when I'm sleepy and desperately searching for coffee. They have good and strong coffee! They have your typical wide array of donuts and kolaches. My favorites so far have been the regular glazed donut and the cinnamon sugar donut (not too sugary, which is perfect for me). For anyone avoiding dairy, unfortunately all of the kolaches have cheese in them so choose something else! For the other people who want to try them, make sure you try it warmed up in the microwave. So you swing by Dales Donuts No 9 to pick up a dozen glazed donoz to maybe soften the blow when your parents are chewing you out. You grab a dozen piggin blanks and some donut holes too. Best donuts in the world. No, seriously. I love donuts and I buy them from a lot of different places, chains and small shops alike. The donuts at Dale's have an amazing, unique flavor (especially the chocolate--it's an icing unlike most places) and a great texture that's pretty light considering it's fried dough. I love the chocolate donuts and the chocolate twists, which somehow have even more delicious chocolate coating than the donuts. The prices are embarrassingly cheap for the great value. Go as early as you can for fresh donuts and the best selection. They are very prone to selling out up to an hour before they close (at 12 p.m.) To the people saying they're no big deal--you must not have taste buds. There is no reason this place shouldn't get five stars from everyone on earth. read more

Who doesn't love donuts? This Fort Worth staple is a west side favorite! Been around since I was a kid!

I don't know what the big fuss is about this place. They're very successful and there's a long line every morning. They close at 12 but they sometimes sell out around 11 and they'll close the door. The store is on my way to school so I grab breakfast from this place sometimes. I only good thing I've had from them is the big jalapeno cheese kolache. I don't think they have their "dough" quite right, everything tasted doughy and bread-like. And that is NOT GOOD for donuts. Donuts need to be soft and airy and melt in your mouth. But if a bready donut is your thing then hey, who am I to judge. But that kind of dough is alright on kolaches. If you ask me, I'd much prefer Yoko's donut. They have their "dough" right. read more

My daughter and I walked to Dales (why no apostrophe?), as we work nearby. We both ordered the Jalepeno Sausage Roll. YUMMY! We were in an out of there quick and the service was great. They had more than one person waiting on people which is always good at a Donut Place; as there's always someone who didn't call at 5:00 AM as you are supposed to do when you are picking up more than one dozen donuts and is slow at choosing, "I'll have ... 3 Bear Claws ... 3 Coconut Sprinkle ... 2 Raspberry filled ... 3 Glazed ...3 Colored Sprinkles ... WAIT - how many does that make? ... Okay ... Okay ... 2 Bear Claws ... 2 Coconut Sprinkles ..." UGH - I just want my Jalepeno Sausage roll!!!! It's not often I would ever give an establishment 1 star, however this one just has to warrant it. This is the closest donut shop to my house, and I would love to have made this my regular donut joint when taking my kid for this fare once or twice a week, and oh how I've tried. Our 4th and final visit happened recently, I told my self in the morning, surely what happened last time wouldn't happen again, surely they are more business savvy than that, so when my little boy said he wanted donuts, we left the house and headed for this location. It wasn't even 9am yet, about 830 when we walked in, and what did we see when we walked in? What a surprise, no donuts, again. Running a restaurant myself I'm thinking, no way, no way this is happening again. How could a business trying to succeed and raise their bottom line every month not want to sale product? I just don't get it. I thought okay surely there's some in the back, so I asked the nice lady behind the counter, any donuts in the back? No sorry, was my answer. All they had was one top row in the case of assorted donuts that no one wants in the first place. Why wouldn't you make more? Do you really not get any more customers after 8am? There's no way I believe that, I know because when we directly turned around and left we went to his favorite donut shop ran by a great lady who has owned over 40 donut shops, and is very successful in this business, and when I explained this to her she was stunned. Why would you only want to make money from 5 or 6am to 8? Surely there are lots more customers from 8 to at least 10, I mean you don't have to totally fill your whole place up, but at least make SOME more donuts, even just your regular glazed, chocolate and holes, just make something. And Dales closes at noon! Why is the world would you close at noon an yet refuse to make more donuts when you run out at 8? What kind of business model is this? It's just crazy. To summarize, I've gone here 4 times, every time between 8 and 930am and, no exaggeration, literally every single time they were out of donuts except one little small row of random no good stuff that's left over every day. Terrible service, you can be as nice as you can, and they seem very nice, but the service is still very bad if you don't want to serve your customer, if you're too lazy to just make more product so you can make more money. They're losing money every day with all the customers that try to come in from 830 and on. Hopefully the owner someday figures this out. Although they probably dont care too much, decidedly we will not be back, we will drive the extra miles to go to the very successful place we have always gone to, that will always have product even after 10 or 11, and somehow stay successful, who would of thought! It shouldn't be that difficult to understand. If you don't have a toddler that wakes up past 7, and want to go here when they open, I'm sure you'll be happy as a clam. This is my usual "go-to" donut shop, due to proximity to my house. I've ventured to some other nearby shops, but always end up back here not just because of proximity, but also because of a consistently good product. I mean, they're selling donuts. Hard to get that wrong, though some places do. Their apple fritters are the best, their sausage rolls are great, and the usual lineup of stuff is always good. Quick and polite service. To the people who deduct stars because of "no freebies offered", let's just remember this is a business. Not a charity. And the fact that this place doesn't just give away their food to appease people with a sense of entitlement makes me like Dales even more. read more
