After watching football on Sunday I had a sweet tooth, so I searched for some good desserts close to me and I came across this doughnut shop that is open until 6pm so I said hey why not! I'm sure glad I did because these doughnuts are delicious! They are layered doughnuts kinda croissantish if you will and they have some interesting flavors to offer, I went in about 20 before closing but didn't realize it until i noticed that the case was pretty empty so I said oh sorry guys I didn't realize I'll go ahead and come back another day. The guy at the counter said no man it's fine don't worry about it, but I said no it's totally fine I worked in restaurant kitchens for 10 yrs I know what it's like to have someone come in and order stuff were out of in the last 30 mins, however he informed me that they had just made some fresh doughnuts and to order whatever I wanted no problem! The manager peeked around the corner and said yeah and pick 2 more they will be on the house! As a coffee person I was pleased to see professional equipment in use (a lot of places use automatic machines and don't really have an understanding of coffee as a craft). I've seen this doughnut shop so many times, but only considered it when I seen they had vegan options. I believe I counted about 10 vegan flavors. Pictured here is the Vegan French Toast doughnut. I should've asked if the vegan doughnuts were cake doughnuts instead of traditional yeast, but I didn't. I'm not a huge fan of them because they taste like cake and I like traditional doughnuts, but this one was pleasant. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth bragging about either. I was really excited to try this donut shop as the flavors listed sound amazing! But I felt like the flavors didn't live up to the names/description The store Is really cute and I could easily imagine this place being packed on a weekend morning. We went later on a Sunday and there were still plenty of flavors to choose from and we were helped immediately. I ordered the strawberry shortcake, raspberry pistachio, dreamsicle and coconut cream. Based on the flavor descriptions I figured most of them would be filled because there weren't a ton of toppings. I figured the flavor would have to be imparted in a different way (ie through a filling). Overall the donut texture is fantastic- it definitely is on the cronut spectrum. It is super light , airy and not greasy at all. Out of the donuts I picked: The only filled one was the coconut cream. The topping was great as it had coconut flakes in it but unfortunately the filling had a coconut extract taste to it that made it more taste a bit like sunscreen. I was really disappointed in the raspberry pistachio one. The icing had a very minor raspberry taste to it. It mainly came across as sweet and the only "pistachio" component was maybe a teaspoon of finely ground pistachios dusted on top. This was the biggest let down. The strawberry shortcake would probably be better served to be renamed strawberries and cream since those are the toppings. I wish there were more strawberries because you only really get the strawberry flavor if you get one of the two slices of strawberries on top. The dreamsicle was also a bummer. In an ideal world I think it would be 100x better if there was some orange zest in the dough. Or even a vanilla orange custard filling? I didn't get much from the icing and overall didn't taste like a dreamsicle Like I said, the dough part of the donut is great. Maybe I had bad luck with the flavors since there were some chocolately/cookie/ caramel flavors that looked very popular. The price however is pretty expensive and to be that much of a miss with 4 different donut flavors means I can't justify going back again. read more

4 stars for the donuts! We got the french toast and local feature, banana cream pie. They were sooooo good! I think the best thing is that the donut itself is really good! So many donut places have crazy cute toppings that are just overly sweet on top of a not so great donut. That is not the case here! There are so many to choose from. Decor is really nice and they have a window where you could watch them decorating the cupcakes when happening. Two opportunities I saw: (almost deducted one star for this but decided not to since the donuts were so good) They had plates on the counter but we weren't asked of we wanted them there or to go. They put them in a box, we ate them there. Everyone else after us had them in boxes and were eating there too. So not sure what the plates were for but going through boxes like that does seem wasteful. I got a text saying my child's school bus was running late this morning, so decided to take him to school and was in the area and wanting something for breakfast. Then I remembered picking up here on Uber eats and it didn't come across as a "normal" donut place, so I decided to try it. I ordered 3 donuts and as of now, tried 2 of the 3 (they are huge). They are made more like croissants and are very flaky on the outside and soft in the center. The ones I ordered were the peaches and cream, coconut cream, and French toast. The peaches and cream one was amazing. I wasn't a fan of the coconut cream one, though. It was really good before got to where had a ton of cream and while I like coconut cream pies and such, wasn't a fan of this particular recipe. I haven't tried the French toast one yet, but she said it was one of most popular ones, so have high hopes. They are very messy, though, so def need a sink nearby and a few napkins lol. They have probably 20+different flavors and also apparently a kitchen with breakfast burritos and such, but I was wanting just donuts (though 3 turned out to be too many, since def a bit filling) and I would def come back to try other varieties, if I'm in the area... Plus, according to their hours, they remain open until 6:30, so would make a good lunch run or afternoon snack to tide you over until your next meal. Drove over to Parlor Doughnuts this morning arriving just after they opened. We were greeted with a smile upon entering. Very pleasant workers first thing in the morning. There were cases of doughnuts with lots of choices of flavor toppings. It was hard to choose! We decided to order a dozen as the more you ordered the cheaper the doughnut. Since it was a drive back to the house, we ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on sourdough bread sandwich. It tasted pretty good. I would have liked the bread to be toasted more, but that is my preference. We also ordered a coffee, a cold brew, and a latte. The coffee drinks were not a favorite. Recently moved into the area, in search of the new go to donut spot. Parlor is a fantastic locally owned donut shop with classic old school America vibes inside. Donuts - These are absolutely incredible. A great selection of seasonal donuts (like Huckleberry) and old classics like the Strawberry Shortcake. We had the churro, and campfire donuts. The style of these reminds me much more of a Cronut; distinctly layered and crispy to perfection. The base donuts themselves aren't overly sweet which is a welcome surprise. Toppings are delicious and quality. And the prices for the donuts are very fair!! Coffee - As a coffee snob I was worried that the coffee here was either going to be subpar, too hot or over extracted. That couldn't have been further from the truth. A really great product, upbeat & friendly service, and a fun and health-conscious atmosphere (yes for donuts) make Parlor Doughnuts an instant winner! We kept hearing about this new doughnut shop not far from us with "the best doughnuts I've ever had" etc. and made our way over to test the hype. I don't know how to quantify "best ever", but the Parlor doughnut is exceptionally good. The baked part was more reminiscent of a hearty, sweet bread than the typical sugar-infused, heavily buttered doughnut. And that's not to cast aspersions on the latter, which I personally enjoy as much as anything. But, I ordered two of these large Parlor creations and thoroughly enjoyed the sweet goodness without feeling like I was entering sugar nirvana afterwards. The menu of flavors is not as extensive or playful as Hurts or some of the boutique donut shops I've visited. But, its a bit more curated. Their equivalent of donut holes are called Croneys, and were good, but suffered a little from a smaller topping-to-dough ratio in my opinion. Still a yummy sweet treat. We also tried an Avo Toast, which is topped with a sliced egg and Tahin, and devoured it happily. We enjoyed this so much I ordered an egg slicer on Amazon so we could try to emulate it at home. The coffee drinks were passable, nothing special in the two we tried. From the minute we walked in, the young staff were personable, helpful, and fun, a sign of strong management and hiring practices. So far, I've only been one time, but there are so many flavors to try, as well as breakfast sammies and coffee. I was running an errand and realized that this shop had replaced what used to be the jimmy Johns next door to Chipotle. I stopped in and got one strawberry and one chocolate/chocolate pastry to try. Both were flaky, fluffy and tasty, but the strawberry was my favorite. Service was quick as they were adequately staffed. There is also a drive through. As rude as they were, it wouldn't surprise me if they spit on the food. I asked my husband to pick up doughnuts today and he placed the order at 4:45, arrived at 5:30ish for pickup and the order was t ready. The people working there seemed really irritated when he arrived, seemingly very put out that he dared place an order. They told my husband "what order? We close at 6" whist my order sat right behind them on the printer. As a reminder, husband placed the order nearly an hour prior (at 4:30/4:45) to arriving at 5:30, not 6. Then they didn't want to make the doughnuts shown in the photos, basically cutting corners since they had already started closing up shop. I could certainly understand even if we showed up right before closing, but he intentionally placed the order prior so everything would be ready. Look, the doughnuts are good and all, but I'm not in the business of begging anyone to take my money during their business hours or be made to feel like an inconvenience as a customer.
