Avoid this practice at all costs. Their online system is completely useless - I spoke to a live agent about needing a new provider for an annual visit as my previous provider with their practice went to "signature care" i.e. charge you $2000+ a year for the privilege of being a patient. They scheduled me and confirmed the visit only to call days before the visit to cancel saying "that provider is not taking new patients." The office couldn't understand how the appointment was able to be booked by one of their own schedulers. No doctor you want to see is taking new patients, despite their own website listing every physician under the "accepting new patients filter" Just an all around mess of a practice. read more

I have seen 2 doctors from this practice and they were both awful. Dr. Julie Kennedy had me on such a high dose of Vitamin D that I developed symptoms of Toxicity. I have been told by other doctors that "No one should be taking that much Vitamin D." Then I switched to Dr. Mildred McAfee and she was worse. She stares at her computer screen during the whole visit (maybe researching things she doesn't have an answer for?), and only wants to have text conversations for test results. Scheduled an appointment couple weeks ago, took FOREVER on the phone, but I got it scheduled (or so I thought). Today, just got back from vacation, I get SEVEN calls on my phone from Kenisha. Two of those actually left a VM, one of which stating they need to reschedule. I call back as requested, before long it is clear they don't really have my information from the first call, and start asking for insurance. My family and I have been going to DDA for years now. Once I was in college, the pediatric doctor wouldn't see me anymore (I know, right?!) so I had to find a doctor that would give me a physical so I could play collegiate soccer. (You just checked my pictures, didn't you, sorry to disappoint *wink*) (Enter stage right, Dr. Chapman) He definitely took care of me. You know all the regular stuff. "Breathe deeply. Now breathe normally. This might be cold. Turn your head and cough." He's a good doctor and I've seen him for any problems I've had since then, some of them major (shingles) and some of them minor (dizziness). Later on, I had a pituitary tumor and was referred to Dr. Extrum. Dr. X is a good doctor as well. Early on, the tumor required blood work every month. I was scheduled for monthly appointments only for him to share the results. I felt like I didn't need to spend a co-pay for him to just tell me the results just to have another blood test in 30 days, so I asked if I needed to see him and he said, "I don't see why. Just come and pick up your lab paperwork, no need to see me." Saving money is always a plus in my book, so I appreciate him giving me a break. I have seen Dr. Kusch, and he has helped me with my eczema and psorisis. They've always been good about calling me about my results as well as filling prescriptions. You can schedule an appointment online which is very helpful, though I've found that calling them usually results in sooner appointments and faster scheduling. The last time I scheduled an appointment, they said, "We have an opening tomorrow at 1:15 or the next opening we have is in two months." A busy doctor can't be a bad doctor, can he? read more

Now, if you call a nurse, they don't return you call until 7 hours latter. They took so long to call me back I came to the office and saw an RN and left before I heard back from them. They didn't even know I had been then when they called. Here how it went: -called at 8:30 -called back at 10:30 and they made the call "urgent" - called at 12:30 and made an appt for 3:30 - Received a call from a nurse on VM at 3:40 and they asked me to call back - called back after my appt and asked to talk to a supervisor - no one EVER called me back I like my doc but seriously am considering leaving for a better office. read more

Dallas Diagnostic Association has a subpar, being kind, phone system. I have driven there from my home on hold, and when I got there, I was still on hold. Every time, an unacceptable wait time. And I found out my favorite doctor won't be there, Dr. Huang. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure the problem is not because of him; he's excellent. I suspect DDA is moving to a cattle call operation. He's the only reason I put up with the phone nonsense. My husband and mother-in-law are patients at DDA, and several friends. Dr. Chen is great. Super down to earth and takes time to listen to your needs. He's also great at setting expectations and not blowing smoke smoke some doctors do.The only negative is not about him but the practice itself. I have gone to DDA for several years, but will not be going back again. Their office management has been exceptionally ineffective this year. My average hold time on the phone has been about 25 minutes. They will not respond to pharmacy inquiries. Their auto system confirmed this morning for my appointment tomorrow, then I got a call saying that all the doctors will be in a staff meeting and they will have to reschedule for three weeks from now. Baylor Scott & White Dallas Diagnostic Association discriminates against medicare patients. I have been going to them for 5 years without a problem. Then I went on medicare this year. So I went online, scheduled an appointment with a different dr and the appointment was confirmed. Then came the phone call! When verifying my insurance information, they then told me "Oh, you're on medicare. You can't have the appointment you scheduled and was confirmed" We only see so many medicare patients a week and only at certain times. The earliest we can get you in is April." How nice is that!!! Note that I haven't actually had my first appointment here, but the reviews had me extremely concerned with the office staff. I called to schedule a new patient appointment and Theresa answered promptly. She was very friendly and answered all of my questions. I did not have any of the issues described from previous reviewers. I was able to get a new patient appointment in 3 working days - maybe I was just lucky but I found that pretty outstanding. So, I really like this office. Unlike so many reviewers, I've received excellent customer service (although they are busy so wait times and hold times are long), but once you get past all that, it's worth it. Be careful about who you choose, though, for a doctor. I had one that was AWESOME, but unfortunately, he moved on to a concierge service. Okay, so the bad news and the reason for the 4 star instead of 5, is because I was transferred as a new patient to Dr. JULIE PAREKH! Ugh! She is a HORRIBLE doctor. I eventually switched to Dr. Lahiri, who is very nice and LISTENED TO MY NEEDS. Dr. Parekh treats her patients like 4-year-olds and uses terms like, "That's a no-no medication." Granted, what she was talking about was an addictive medication (though I'm not an addict, and there is no record or reason to think that I am). I do appreciate the vigilance, but not the condescending tone. It would have been nice if she actually listened and trusted me with a medication that I needed, as there is no reason to assume addiction. That's not the only thing, however. She is lazy, will drag you in to see her, even if she says AT THE APPOINTMENT, "I can't help you," (she says that a lot) resulting in time wasted and a referral to another doctor, only to be told, "Your physician typically is the one who handles this particular issue." This is why I feel that she is lazy and does not pay attention to her patients. She passes the buck more often than not. I will NEVER go back to her, but I will continue to go to Dr. Lahiri and to Dallas Diagnostics Associates of Plano. I got the medication, I needed, by the way (the "no-no medication") from Dr. Lahiri, and to prove to Dr. Parekh that I am not an addict, I haven't felt the need or desire to refill in at least 9 months. My files have been messed up including invoices for three years. They give you the run around. They also make mistakes and send you to every specialist ending in "ology" to make money. Staff is rude. Just when I thought this place couldnt get any worse they actually went lower...My mom has had all her doctors at DDA for the past 6yrs as they refer you to all their colleagues and in January they decided dump my mom/ her insurance carrier without notice. Some of her appointments I had had for months. My mother is 86 and has had 2 major surgeries at Baylor and a stroke right after, but apparently the bottom feeders dont care that they left us hanging without any doctors/ hospital. I'm a caregiver. The lady I watch apparently suffering from UTI. They were booked up last Friday and Saturday - no appointments- she is a regular patient there. I was told to take her to urgent care. Again today, I finally got her in after threatening to drop her off for her appointment and have her daughter pick up when she was done with chemotherapy. The staff seemed uncaring and uncompassionate. They appear to avoid helping. My lady is suppose to wait until tommorow for test results. Until that time, she is in constant pain and uncomfortable. Did anyone offer any piece of advice to relieve her discomfort? No, not one person showed any compassion or concern in any way. read more

The quality of medical care here is great. The rest of the interactions with this organization leave much to be desired. For example, today I'm overseas and just wanted to schedule my annual physical. I logged online to find that they have a "new system" which I don't have an account to. The system told me I needed to contact them to get a code and an account setup. Fine. I figured I'd just call and make an appointment. International call, and was told that the wait time on hold would be 27 minutes......to make an appointment. I mean, come on! It's 3:30 PM local time on a Monday. It's not like I'm calling at lunch, or on a Friday afternoon. I scoured the website found you could request an appointment on the website without logging in. Perfect! I selected four proposed appointment times over the next month. I received an email saying that none of my proposed times were available, and do not email them back, but call. Back in the country for only a few days, tried calling the day after Thanksgiving...closed. Overseas again with 9 hour time difference, I tried calling the Monday after Thanksgiving at 9:15 AM and got their answering service. "I'm not sure why they haven't transferred the phones over. The offices open at 8:00." I told the answering service I just needed to make an appointment and I'd call back. Two days later, still overseas, called Wednesday at 11:15 AM and the wait time was 29 minutes. System can't recognize an international number for a call-back. After reading the sea of complaints from others, I'm starting to get the idea that this is not an isolated instance and people are pissed. I've had my doctor for about 15 years, but if I have to jump through this many hoops to make an appointment then perhaps I should go somewhere that's more capable of handling these complex administrative tasks that go along with running a medical practice. read more

I'm still a patient here, but I wish I could find another practice that combines the specialists I need without being a hot mess. The operations side of DDA is possibly the worst-run practice I've ever seen. Constantly under-staffed, from registration to NPs to doctors, as well as over-booked. They run out of physical space, book appointments they know will overlap, and force last-minute rescheduling with no availability. Every interaction I have leaves me more frustrated, but I love my actual practitioners. It's such a pity that great doctors are being hidden behind the veil of incompetence here. read more

I have been a patient of DDA for years. Recently had to switch rheumatologist's because mine moved out of state. I was told army appointment that my lab work would be $55.00 AT MOST. I was also told to follow up in 1 month. I made my follow up, the first available per the scheduler, is 3 months out. I just received a $235 bill for my "$55.00" lab work. I don't usually throw out that I'm a nurse, but I would never dream of providing that kind of healthcare. Low quality and non communication is poor patient care. And that's just wrong. read more

After 27 minutes of waiting, I finally spoke with a call center person. She obviously was new because she didn't know much and I had to play guess which Dr. is accepting patients. There seems to be a breakdown in your requirement that prescription refills must be requested by the pharmacy. Ten days ago a request was submitted for my refill and that request has now been repeated three times, and now a fourth time about an hour ago. Still, no response from the doctor and I have been completely without now for four days. This situation has occurred more than once in the past year. Where is the problem? If the responsibility lies with the doctor, then I will be seeking his replacement if this continues for future refills. read more

Health care workers seemed very nice, so this review is strictly focused on Dr. Namburi. I was a past patient of hers and decided to go back for a visit after a 2 year absence. During this visit, Dr. Namburi was highly disrespectful, to the point that I was ready to leave her office without completing the scope of my appointment. I was so upset with her that, after my [routine] appointment, I cried the whole way back to my house (40 minutes). She did not consider my beliefs when addressing my concerns, which should be #1 when working with a provider. Although I can't judge the whole hospital/provider network based on my experience, I recommend that you avoid Dr. Namburi when making an appointment with this facility. read more

Both my husband and I have been going to DDA ever since we moved to Texas (5 years+). As a Nurse practitioner myself, we make sure to go for our yearly physicals and were very happy with Dr. Samsula. We recently decided to become foster parents and needed a very simplistic form filled out stating we were healthy and a TB test. Being that we had been seen a few months before for a compete yearly physical I did not think Dr. Samsula would have an issue completing it and scheduling the tb test for a nurse visit for my husband (I already have a recent tb test). However, when I called they had informed me that Dr. Samsula had left the practice to start his own. I was told that we would need to come in and have another visit to have the forms filled out because despite having the past 5 years of records and physicals a new MD would not be comfortable filling out a simplistic form. Literally the form says "is this patient healthy enough to be a foster parent". It doesn't even require vital signs. And because we had already used our annual physical, this second visit would be billed towards my $4000 family and $2600 deductible. I agreed to schedule an appointment despite the fact that I felt this was not a patient friendly practice and they filled out the form but forgot to do the TB test. When I called the office several weeks later to send him in for the TB test it took 2 representative and 25 mins of hold to be told that he would have to be there by 3:30, which is not feasible as my husband works downtown. When I spoke to the office manager and requested a later time, she blamed my husband for forgetting to get the TB test (even though when I booked the appt I requested a tb test) and said if we wanted to switch to a different practitioner within the practice he would need to pay for another visit. Then she actually LAUGHED when I when I said I was unhappy that this error would cost me more money towards my deductible. Here is what I will be doing: 1. sending my husband to retail health to get a tb test for $22. 2. finding a new PCP for myself and my husband 3. referring my retail health patients elsewhere when they ask me for a good PCP. read more

I have been a patient at DDA for 20 years. I originally started going to see Dr.Joan Donnely on the recommendation of my mother in law. I loved Dr. Donnely until her retirement a few years ago. Her replacement, \. Dr. Kuo is certainly not up to the same quality of customer service or medical knowledge.Dr. Kuo has misdiagnosed me on three different occasions, and not surprising will be leave the first of October,2016. She sounds like a malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen. The crappy phone system has been that way for at least the past 20 years. They are always talking about improving hold time but I never happens. Just this past week, I was on hold for 18 1/2 minutes and a second time for 16 minutes. They are getting worse not better! One of the nurses even told me that they are losing patients because everyone is so frustrate with the archaic system. read more

I'm a regular patient of DDA, and called with an urgent need for an appointment. Not just an "I'd like to get in sooner" condition but something truly urgent that needed quick intervention. I was put through 7 different people, and on the phone for over an hour, only to be shuffled to a doctor I'd never seen. In fact, one that's not even listed on their website. Quality of care depends on access to care. And their scheduling/front end is so terrible it's basically like not having a doctor at all. I begged, pleaded, and (uncharacteristic for me) even cried. The doctors are good, but getting in to see them, or communicating with DDA is impossible. This morning I tried to call and was on hold for 35 minutes which ended with the phone going dead (cut off? hung up on?). So I called back and was on hold for 23 minutes with the same result....the phone just goes dead. Third time, on hold for 25 minutes with same again....it just ended. Their lab wait time is unreasonable, also. Normal wait time is 30 minutes to an hour. As I said, doctors are ok, but the company and their process is a hot mess. My doctor spends more time typing into her computer than she spends talking with me (and she types fast). I think the problem is the combination of DDA's management, and Obamacare. read more

So if you want basic diagnostic service, with automated everything, minimal assistance, horrific office practices all for the price of your deductible, then DDA is the place for you. Do not expect any communication of value, timely responsiveness (if at all), results, advice or professionalism. However, if you are new, please show up 30 minutes early to fill out your forms with plenty of insurance documentation and a debit/credit card. I left my office and was seen on time by a friendly doctor, who took care of my need and I got a prescription filled and was back at work in 40 minutes. How amazing is that? High five! I have been seeing physicians at DDA for many years. I have followed the DDA from location to location. Currently I see most of my DDA physicians at Baylor Plano. Last year I had to change my insurance company to Baylor Scott & White Health insurance so that I could continue seeing: Dr Swati Namburi (Internal medicine) and Dr Avesh Verma ( Neurology). This year I started seeing Dr Appleton (Orthopedist) at his Plano office. I have been a patient of Dr Michael Pendola (Colon Surgeon), Baylor Wound Center at Garland (several time for healing challenges) and Dr Varini Rao (Rheumatologist) at their offices at Baylor Garland. Each and everyone of my physicians have been professional and caring offering me the highest quality of treatments. The only physician I see that does not take BS&W insurance at this time is my Gastroenterologist and I have been seeing her at least as long as I've seen Dr Namburi, 20+ years. I not only recommend my physicians but the Dallas Diagnostic Association (DDA) for medical care. They and their staff member have treated me with the upmost respect and caring. read more

I understand that everyone has different medical needs and experiences, but I'm surprised to see so many low ratings when my experience was excellent. I chose DDA because they're in network for my insurance, affiliated with an extensive network of providers and hospitals, and most of all - allow online scheduling. I'm glad I did. My experience with the Internal Medicine department and Dr. Yoo in particular was amazing. Scheduling was a breeze, downloading forms to fill out ahead of time was easy, check-in took all of 3 minutes, the MA was quick and professional, and most of all, Dr. Yoo was great - listening to my concerns, engaging in dialogue and accepting my feedback all while spending a good amount of time with me in the exam room. The lab was quick and efficient and the phlebotomist even found my difficult veins without a problem in 90 seconds, whereas others have taken 30 minutes. But the best part is the follow-up via MyChart - Dr. Yoo not only gave a detailed message with context to all of my lab results, but also continued dialogue around my concerns. Perhaps I just got lucky with my provider, but I couldn't be happier with DDA. read more
