We reviewed the Yelp reviews and were surprised to see a business with 5 stars. We decided to go check out the "store" and went to the address listed. That's when we realized something wasn't kosher about this. The guy only shows mattresses on appointment only and we were able to check it out because he had other people scheduled. There isn't a storefront, rather, the "business" is located in The Attic storage facility. The "showroom" is a storage locker with several mattresses on some bed frames. He only has a limited selection (maybe 10-12) and seemed to push the "foam" mattresses. My husband and I left quickly. The whole set up seems sketchy. He only takes cash or check so if something happens to him, there's no way to get a refund or stop payment. While the prices may seem low, there is no way to determine where he gets his mattresses, if they are under warranty and if he's truly legit. If you're into taking a risk on something you sleep on, then maybe this is a business to consider. It wasn't for us. read more

Went to the storage facility and met John there. Picked out a mattress and paid by check, and set up a delivery date for the next week.. Mattress and box spring was delivered, but the mattress had several broken/noisy springs. I called John, he called the factory (here in DFW) , and ordered a replacement. No fuss, no "you haven't filled out your warranty", he just made the call. It did take a week to get the replacement, but he said it was because the manufacturer wanted an extra day to examine the replacement - to be absolutely sure I didn't get another lemon. Replacement was delivered yesterday, and is absolutely perfect. read more

Easiest mattress buying experience ever. John was super helpful. The mattress we bought was twice as much as similar models at the furniture stores. Every mattress he has is top of the line. He doesn't have the low end type mattress models you see in most furniture stores. The delivery guys called and let us know they were on the way, just a few hours after we bought the mattress. Love my new mattress. Don't be freaked out when you realize he's taking you into a storage unit. I'm pretty sure he must save a bundle on overhead by not having to rent retail space -- and he passes those savings on to you. The best part was, after I selected the mattress I wanted, he said "OK." and drew up the paperwork. Didn't try to upsell me or get me to buy a nightstand or anything of the kind. Thank goodness for John Warriner and his Dallas Discount Mattress! He couldn't be nicer, and runs his business such that he can offer excellent quality mattresses and box springs at far better prices than anywhere else in town that I've found. (He also sells furniture, I believe, though I think it's a separate operation.) Mr. Warriner keeps prices low by not having a typical store or showroom, or salespeople, or expensive overhead in general. You call the number, and speak with him (when I first reached him he was at a Rangers game, and was so friendly), and he'll work with your schedule to find a time to meet you at his facility, which is just south of the intersection of Belt Line and Inwood in Addison. It's actually within a storage facility, and he has all the various models set up there (not a huge number, but a good variety), for you to look at and try out. They're all shown and described on the website, with prices listed -- very straightforward and clear, so you can have an idea of things before going to try them out. No hard sell, just information to help you decide which will be best for you. You can think it over and call him when you've decided, or arrange for delivery right then. I wasn't sure whether the simple base I had would work with the mattress I decided on, and Mr. Warriner said the delivery man would have bases with him that I could buy at his cost (very inexpensive) if necessary (which it wasn't). Quick, friendly delivery at reasonable cost, and right on time. The whole cost, especially with the Yelp special applied, was considerably less than I'd have paid anywhere else, and that would have been a much inferior product. This all eased the stress I was feeling about having to buy a new mattress set for out of town visitors, and the bed is so comfortable. We got the most comfortable pillow top mattress you could ever imagine. We were stoked to get a brand new mattress for $300. So, I found out about Dallas discount mattress on a website called next door where someone was asking about a good place to buy a quality mattress for cheap. I followed the thread and Dallas discount mattress was brought up. I checked out their website, so all the different options that were offered, and called the phone number. The owner answered immediately talked me through the options they had, and was very accommodating. He is located in a storage facility, but all you have to do is schedule an appointment and he is there. I met him on a Saturday afternoon. I am a first time mattress buyer, so my mom was with me as well. The owner sold me a king size, memory foam mattress, box spring, and bed frame WITH delivery all for under $1,000. There was a problem with the delivery and all I had to do was call, explain the situation and they made it right with no cost or hassle to me. My mom will be contacting this company for her next mattress. She went to a big chain store. Paid 3X what I did, and her foam is having some memory if you get what I am saying. These mattresses have guarantees and warranties and I have never slept so well in all my life. I will be returning for life and sending all my friends and family to this company.
