I took off work like most people do to attend an appointment. I was under the impression that I would be given an adequate explanation for what was going on, along with some information. I do not feel that this had to be an in-person appointment if I was going to be told I could go to "whoever" for an OMFS. Instead of being given a name, phone number or a referral... I was quickly shown the homepage of a website, and then told the cost for the appointment. I understand that is not everyone's experience, but this was mine, and now it is a battle of who can provide me a referral for the care I need. The physician I saw stated they didn't do referrals, and I could get that from the original referring physician who referred me to the Dallas Ear Institute. I don't know what the next step is now, and if I just need to spend more money (making another appointment with them) to get a referral. I just wish they wouldn't take advantage of patients finances and time. read more

Disappointing History with Dr. Brian Rodgers - Poor Communication and Dismissive Attitude After multiple visits over several years, I feel compelled to share my consistent disappointment with Dr. Brian Rodgers. While his credentials as a neurotologist may be strong, his patient interaction is among the worst I've experienced from any physician. Dr. Rodgers routinely cuts my appointments short--some to less than two minutes--before addressing even basic questions. Rather than listening or explaining, he tends to shut conversations down prematurely. On one occasion, he even dismissed a legitimate neurological symptom as simply "weird." That level of flippancy from a specialist is not only unhelpful--it's deeply unprofessional. Patients are not surgical cases or lab data. We are people seeking help, reassurance, clarity, and care. Even while Dr. Rodgers has usually been outwardly polite, some of my core concerns have remained unanswered visit after visit. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for years, hoping his bedside manner might improve. It hasn't. The high volume of glowing reviews doesn't match what many patients--myself included--have experienced. Over time, I've seen numerous critical online reviews disappear, and I've read troubling claims of patients being pressured to remove negative feedback. That's unacceptable. To Dr. Rodgers: your medical expertise means little if patients leave feeling unheard and dismissed. Please slow down, listen fully, and engage with patient concerns--even when a referral to an outside specific physician or treatment may be the only answer. I've got nothing but praise & thanks for him. I was quickly able to tell that he has the personality & traits of someone who genuinely cares about his patients & is willing to spend time answering questions & clarifying stuff. I planned to cancel my appointment for today a few days ago, when I felt that something smelled bad about the business side of this business: billing department woman (same as business administrator) had given me two different $$ amounts when I asked for the estimate on hearing test and office visit. Then even the hearing test specialist was rushed when I asked the details about the procedure (I've never done it before). And lastly, my appointment was cancelled yesterday very late in the day...which is for the best, but what a COWARDLY way to operate the business ! Instead of calling me a few days in advance and telling me or at least post email with same information would be appropriate and human thing to do. It's great, as a bottom line, for me. At least, I will not have to deal with their non-ending billings and perhaps, questionable services-I was told the hearing test takes 10-15 min. only and office visit-10 min. more ! This business makes a mockery of decency and fairness in business practices. i paid $6,000 for hearing aids that never functioned properly. They offered a refitting but the new ones did not fit in my ear - they sent me back home but i reached out again and they sent me to yet another audiologist who admitted that the hearing aids did not fit (had no clue how they could be that far off) and ordered new ones. The new one's did fit but they were defective. I advised her that the hearing aid was not responding to raising the volume control. The audiologist refused to resolve the issue. She flatly stated that it does go up by 5 decibels but not gradually as it is supposed to. I contacted the manufacturer who stated that the hearing aids should go up a minimum of 10 decibels over 5 raises in setting. I contacted their office again and asked to speak to a doctor (when i first visited - he stated that i should contact him with any issues) - the receptionist refused to give me an appointment and refused to put me in touch with the owner of the business. She insisted that i speak to the same office manager who had not bothered to return my phone call from last week. It makes me wonder how this business has even gotten 3 stars with these failed business practices. read more

I was referred to this place by my PCP to Dr. Peters. When I called for an apt I was told I could NOT set an apt until I faxed my previous medical records for Dr Peters to review to see if he could help me which I did. Dr Peters office contacted me to let me know Dr Peters could help me and to set an apt. I was told my apt would be with either the Nurse or the PA. I told her I needed to see a Neuro-ENT DOCTOR because my previous 2 ENTs were unable to help me and I needed someone w more experience. She told me the drs did not see patients and only did surgeries. So I scheduled with the PA w great reluctance and began my sign in process thru the portal whereupon one must sign the Consent form to be seen by a NP or PA. I noted that the bottom line of the Consent form stated one could opt out of seeing the NP or PA at any time in order to see a doctor. I decided to send a message thru the portal to the PA and to my surprise, the next morning was contacted by their office regarding my apt. I explained to the scheduler that I wanted to see a Neuro ENT and I didn't think a PA w less credentials could help me since my previous 2 ENTs could not. She informed me that the PA wasn't just a PA but specialized in vestibular problems like vertigo and tinnitus, and i told her I did not have vertigo and needed to consult with Dr. Peters. She told me I had scheduled with the WRONG doctor and he could NOT help me with my problem, (which was news to me since Dr Peters gave me approval for an apt to see him). I asked her if there WAS a DOCTOR who could see me and after a long silent pause, she said she could set an apt with Dr Page but there would be no going back and forth! (Heck, all want is an apt with a real doctor!). She said well I CAN'T get you in for another 3 weeks...I said fine... let's schedule an apt. I am hoping that my apt with the actual DOCTOR goes better, since they must be GODS and impossible to see. All I have seen on line is how wonderful this place is with 5 star ratings so we will see. All I know is that the schedulers are rude and huffy. read more

You can tell when a practice is profit centered and not patient centered. Not that profits are bad. You need a profit to stay in business. When it comes to medicine, the difference between having a profit centered business and patient centered business is a caring attitude and COMMUNICATION. I am an out of town patient that was trying to make an appointment for vertigo and tinnitus. I had been to 4 ENT's, 3 of which recommended an intratympanic injection ("II"). I provided Dallas Ear with all sorts of tests, imaging, doctor's notes, PT notes. Yet, they would not even commit to an II, or even outline how they were going to confirm I needed an II, saying it is their standard practice not to commit to a treatment. I understand that standard practice, but I supplied them with a battery of information that should have given them enough confidence to confirm that my long distance trip to see them was not going to be in vain, that it would result in some type of more aggressive treatment. read more

The audiologist who did the assessment is an intern from Callier. He was super! Dr. Peters was to the point -- not big on bed side manner -- hey lady you can't hear. Sure thanks. I am a busy professional, and the office was not clear that the hearing aid evaluation was a separate visit. I had to reschedule. Now I get a request to fill out a whole other set of paperwork. For Pete's sake, it's the same office. Not to mention, they only have one girl there in the morning. The phone rang out and rang out until I figured out a way to leave a message. And there's no email address on the website. Thanks guys -- but I'm just as busy as you. Why am I filling out more paperwork for the same office in this day of efficent medical records. Oh sorry, I forget -- people with a hearing loss probably are old and don't have jobs or work so we have plenty of time to waste. read more

This place treats their "customers" like shit. We have a 1 year old with hearing aids. Every time we go in there's a new bill and a new rude expectation that we are going to just pay with asking questions. Our audiologist was nice the whole time but everyone else should be replaced. They treat my wife like she is dumb when I'm not there and then treat us like we don't or won't pay for our services. Look, we will pay and always have but not blindly without explanation. I was referred to Dr. Yoav Hahn after I ruptured my eardrum doing some cool, ultra-extreme activity (not really - it was something stupid that I'd rather not publicly say). Dr. Hahn is a very calm physician who took the necessary time to look at my situation and answer my questions. Not once did I feel rushed during my visits, unlike another doctor who I will review shortly. He performed the surgical procedure tympanoplasty to reconstruct and patch my eardrum and it was a success. It's been nearly 6 months and I now hear just as well as I used to before the rupture and I felt confident the entire time that I was in good hands with Dr. Hahn. Consider this ENT center if you're having ear problems. read more

I chose Dallas Ear Institute because I work at Medical City as a registered nurse. I made an appointment a week ago. I show up today for my appointment only for them to tell me that the physician I was supposed to see is actually out of the office today (she asked if I had gotten their message- I had never received a call or voicemail from them). This should not happen. I found a babysitter for my newborn and I drove from Rockwall for this appointment. The lack of communication caused me a huge inconvenience. read more

I am almost 40 and I have never needed an ENT. Even though I am a healthcare provider, I don't really know too much about the ear. I also really hate being in the patient's seat. I recently experienced horrible ear pain.. When I went to the office I was very anxious. However all of the staff there were very comforting and & Professional. Physician's assistant Krysten, was very thorough and gentle and informative. I would definitely recommend this office for anyone who has any ear nose or throat issues. read more

Found this place on the net. Staff and Dr. Hahn and Kristin are very nice. Waiting room is very comfortable and the office wasn't difficult to find. I felt however this doctor's office is over booked with patients. It felt like a Starbucks, people standing, sitting, bumping into each other at times going into and out of the waiting room. Waited 45 minutes in the waiting room. And another 32 minutes in the exam room to be seen for approximately 5-7 minutes. They were friendly but I felt rushed and not listened to. I know they see ear infections everyday, but still-every person is different. Again, the doctor and Kristin, the medical assistants and admin staff were very friendly, but it has been one week since I've seen them, taking the meds as prescribed and I feel sicker than when I went in. I am going to try a different doctor for help. read more

Dr. Peters was the third ENT I had seen about my hearing problems. The first two told me there was nothing they could do but monitor the situation. Dr Peters recommended me for a specific type of hearing aid for my situation. The audiologist Dr. Gerlach has been great working with me. She has taken time to get me the right model of hearing aid for my lifestyle. The aid is working great and has improved my quality of life. My only regret is that I didn't come to the Dallas Ear Institute earlier. read more

My son had to have eardrum reconstruction surgery. I could not find a doctor in our network and close to us, that I felt comfortable with. Insurance was not helping so I started searching in the entire state of Texas and narrowed it down to four doctors, based on reviews and history of doing the surgery that my son needed. I could not be happier with Dr. Hahn. He was our first pick because their website has more information than any others and the best part was that he was the closest. He explains everything where you can understand it. He takes the time to listen to your questions. My son had two surgeries, one on each ear. He had Tympanoplasty with complete behind the ear incision, on each ear. When reading reviews prior to surgery, I was looking for what to expect with this surgery. My son did not have any pain the day of surgery. We were able to go home right after it. We had a two hour drive home but there were no issues. The worst part of surgery for my son was getting nauseous and throwing up right after surgery. The second surgery, they gave him medicine and he did not get sick. The first night is the hardest because it is bandaged up with a cup over the ear, makes it uncomfortable to sleep. I had to clean up a lot of drainage the following morning after surgery, when you can remove the cup (you really need someone to do this for you, not easy for patient to do on their own). That was the toughest part for me but once cleaned up, it looked great. His ear was very swollen for the first couple days, it did stick out far from his head. (Don't panic, the swelling will go down and the scar behind the ear is not seen.) He had the surgery Thursday and by Monday he was ready to go back to school. The worst part of it all for my son was no physical activity for several weeks. ... So no complaints about Dr. Hahn and extremely thankful that he is part of the HMO plan, even though it is difficult to work with on the business side. (As a business owner, our only option is BCBS TX HMO which makes it difficult to find doctors in our network.) My only complaint would be the insurance/billing side. The billing charged me over $500 more for the first surgery than insurance allowed. It was not refunded back to me. When we go in for appointments after that, every time they try to collect money from me. I have to tell them that I have a credit. (Makes me wonder how many people get overcharged and do not pay attention to that.) This happens with a lot of doctors offices but it is very frustrating. Personally, I prefer for them to refund the money so that it is easier for me to track how much goes to each appointment. read more

I think Dr. Hahn is probably very smart and talented. However, he does not spend much time with you and in my case did not properly explain my condition. This is apparently his reputation. In fact, I did my own research into my vestibular issue and found it on the internet and brought the article in and he just said "Uh huh." He never told me I had this issue or how it was going to be treated or the prognosis. I spent much more time with PA Kristin who is very nice but does not have near the knowledge Hahn has which he does not share. read more

If I could provide zero stars, I would. This place is HORRIBLE!! The office staff is rude and don't have a clue what is going on. We were told my husbands hearing aid would be in in 2 weeks (we were already forced to make a down payment) and an appointment was scheduled for 2 weeks out so they would be sure they had them in in time for the appointment. Friday I got a call that stated we needed to be at his appointment 25 minutes early. Then yesterday I get a call that they need to cancel his appointment because his hearing aid are not in yet. His appointment was scheduled for today. This was after his initial appointment was rescheduled and we were told that no one should have booked an appointment for that time. This is my first time to ever write a review for a business but this place is just AWFUL! I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. The way they chose to handle business is a joke....in no way do they care about their customers. You and your time is not important to this office or the "Institute". Very disrespectful! read more
