Totally disappointed! The steaks were obviously old and overcooked as they weren't pink not even the medium rare. Even the fries weren't good. The only thing decent were the tiny prawns and garlic toast. Only reason I gave 2 stars was that service was great. If I were paying, would've sent it back but not my choice. Our go to place for pizza and pasta. Sooo much cheese on every pizza, you almost need a spotter when you pick up a slice.

I've only picked up food from this place despite having lived on the northside for 25 years. We ordered a Manager Special, which is a lasagna, a huge serving of caesar salad, and a pizza (we had shrimp, mushroom, and onion). As many reviewers have noted, the pizza was the best of these. The lasagna was pretty indistinguishable from frozen grocery fare, and the salad was OK when we received it, though already somewhat soggy, and it got worse quickly so I discarded the remainder the next day. The pizza though has a great crust, nice and crispy, and very good toppings in decent quantities. My spouse is fussy about pizza and had only good things to say about it. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall, and I'm not sure what one would expect for ambiance in a little place tucked away in an old strip mall, but we do plan to check out their steak and other mains in the near future. Hopeful this will become a frequent place for us, both takeout and dine in! read more

Visited Capital Pizza & Steakhouse for the first time last week in years. Their crust, if you have not had it before, is always flaky golden deliciousness. The prices for your pies here are higher than most and if you attempt to build your own, the price skyrockets so I suggest sticking to one of their predesigned ones on the menu. They offer lunch specials, M-F from 11am-2pm, for $8.95 with the selection varying daily but always including a personal nooner pizza. Daily specials include everything from $3 off your second pizza to $10.95 nachos which I hear are both HUGE and delicious! First time at this location and here are my first impressions... Hidden away in a residential neighbourhood you pull up to a small strip mall with not a lot to offer except free parking. The entrance to the restaurant has two doors side by side (lounge & restaurant) which was confusing for a second. We came for pizza take out so we picked the correct door to the restaurant side. The pizza was ready and we were warmly greeted. They provided a fridge magnet, to go menu, and told us if we used their online ordering system we could get 10% off our order. We ordered two pizzas and we all had the same reaction... too much cheese! The crust is above average for texture and flavour but all the toppings were overwhelmed by the volume of cheese! Some may say this is a good thing but I do like to taste the other toppings. The web ordering app/site does allow you to order less or more cheese and now that I know the standard they go with I'd definitely ask for less next time. I'd also say that it's quite a bit pricier then other standard pizza joints. For two large pizza's from their menu it came to $46 + tip. I usually go for Papa Murphy's pizzas so it's quite a bit more. These ones did have more toppings and much more cheese than Papa Murphy's but I seriously don't need that much cheese. I'll probably order again for convenience but not often. read more

While the food is tasty, the original location of Capital Pizza on 144 ave has, unfortunately, priced themselves out of my regular rotation. Too expensive. We have replaced this Capital with the one in Belle Rive and Coliseum Steak and Pizza on 118 ave. Also worth mentioning the staff at original location can be quite cranky. read more

This is the original Capital Pizza, and I've lived by here by entire life. I used to go here all the time as a kid and a teenager. My diet has changed significantly, so I rarely go here anymore, but I used to love so many of their foods. My favourites were the pizza, steaks, calamari, caesar salad, nachos, and lasagna--oh, the lasagna really was very good. I wouldn't bother getting burgers here, or anything like that--they are known for their pizza, steaks, and lasagna for sure! Capital Pizza has always had a very welcoming atmosphere. It's definitely one of those neighborhood restaurants you never forget. I've been to other locations, but it's just not the same. I guess it must be the nostalgia. The inside of this restaurant is really old, and the decor is way outdated, but what's exciting is that they are moving just a few feet away into a brand new building located in the parking lot! My husband and his childhood friends have been going to this local restaurant during their growing years and occasionally; when we all get together, this place is the restaurant of choice. Yes, it's in a little neighbourhood stripmall, but parking is not so bad. It's very family friendly, and we were able to be seated in 5 min despite coming in with a large group of 10. Although it's dimly lit and a little dated, it carries a very warm & comforting vibe. Service is very friendly & they know a lot about the menu & portion sizing. I appreciate the availability of high chairs here and there is a fair amount of space between tables, that my toddler was able to wander around our table with disrupting others. Food comes out fairly quick and the portions for kids is generous. Flavour wise, it's standard family friendly Italian fare, ends the hunger; tastes alright... along the lines of a Boston pizza, but with local atmosphere. My kids enjoyed the food. They actually have takeout boxes for your pizza and other menu leftovers if you can't finish. All in all, I think this restaurant is a neighbourhood gem and worth a try for sure if you are in the area looking for local family friendly eats. read more

Not bad, not bad at all. It's a little dated inside but that might just be my preference. I will say the pizza in particular was good. They didn't skimp on the meat and it was super cheesy. The staff was attentive and I enjoyed my meal well enough. My fiance really liked his meal as well, this was one of those places in our area that we've been meaning to try but kept pushing it off and forgetting about it. The new Capital Pizza is much better than the old, original Capital Pizza. They've been in their new location (across the parking lot) for about a year now. I'm really torn about this place. I think it's mediocre at best but my grandma loves it! It's her favourite place to eat. I don't like the pizza here because it literally has half an inch of cheese on it. My arteries were mad at me after eating it, that's for sure. I recently tried a chicken wrap and it was decent. There was too much cheese in it for my liking, again, but it was pretty good. And it was huge. I could only eat half of it. It was longer than a 6 inch sub at Subway and it was thicker than my arm! The caesar salad was good but it was drowning in dressing so I didn't finish it all. The atmosphere is nice. It's sort of an Italian style. The servers that I've had are always decent. I had one that was really friendly and she did a great job. I had another one who was less friendly but did a did a great job serving so it balanced out. The prices are pretty cheap too. Capital Pizza is an OK place to go if you're on the North side of town. It's not my favourite. read more

Being a former patron of late nite pizza at the location from opening and having my first steak and lobster in 1979, I guarantee it is just as good now as it was then. Dropped in for a bite to eat and a beer. Ordered pizza from here multiple times and it's always under cooked. I've had to scrape the raw dough off my pizza at the table. This time i figure I'll order something I've actually enjoyed from the kitchen before.... Only the inconsistency in the menu was shocking. The drastic changes to the item I ordered was night and day. When I expressed my distaste to my server MYRA informed me that there was nothing that they would do in regards to the inconsistency of the menu. After further consideration I informed MYRA then that in did not want the item as it did not meet the standards that the restaurant presented to me on a previous occasions. Upon hearing my displeasure with the meal MYRA then requested quite sternly that I now pay her for the alcohol I had consumed and made it very apparent that in was no longer welcome in the establishment. read more

I thought the prices were high in 2107, you should see them now. Chicken fingers $22, 8 ounces strip loin $35. High prices and mediocre at best food. Service has also gotten even worse, inattentive, and surly. They still make a great pizza but things like their burgers, chicken patties are all processed frozen stuff from Costco. No flavour and a heck of a lot of money for frozen card board. I will not be going back any time soon. This is a Pizza joint, not Caesar's Steak House, which by the way isn't much more expensive than this place has become. This place has completely lost it. read more

The food here is pretty blahh..I had the donair; and the beef was sooo dry and there was hardly any donair sauce (I thought they had forgotten it entirely!!). And it was soooo tiny it was a child's size. There was loads of salad (I ordered the Greek), but it was soggy :( And the the fries were old and not fresh it was disappointing. The service was so slow too, the food took ages to come. And the server would never bring drink refills, and when she finally did bring me my one and only refill she left the old glass there and just brought me a new one! Ate here with my family last night. We've been visiting this restaurant for years, since it was still part of the actual strip mall, rather than its own auxilliary building. Usually we have a great time here. Not so much this time. We were seated at a table and then, a short while later, we were told, "You have to move," by the frizzy-haired, older waitress/hostess - she was the one that sat us at the table to begin with. She didn't apologize for the inconvenience, just pointed at another table like we had been given marching orders. I could understand them moving us as some people may have had reservations and it was a Saturday night, which is not exactly a low-traffic time, but for her to be so curt with us about it seemed unneccessary when it was her own mistake seating us at a table that may have been reserved. Our first waiter after her was great. I didn't catch his name as the waitstaff didn't have nametags and it was very loud in the restaurant, but he apologized for the cramped quarters at our new table and took our drink and starter orders. And when the people who were given our original table decided it wasn't to their liking and demanded to move, he made sure we were able to move back to that table. The food was, at least, delicious. Our food was brought out very quickly by a young lady who was very efficient and courteous. My lasagne was a massive portion for a very reasonable price, and tasted wonderful. Some of their menu items were more expensive than I would have expected, but overall the portion size seems to make up for the large cost. Most of their entrees would probably make for a meal at dinner and lunch from the take-home box. There was one SUPER icky issue I had with this restaurant however, and that is that as we were leaving, we passed by the area along the long passageway to the back of the restaurant where the waitstaff were boxing up customer's food to take home, and I could clearly see that same frizzy-haired older woman boxing up someone's food and she sneezed directly on the box she was assembling. She didn't cover her mouth, or turn her head, or do anything to try to redirect the spray of spit and germs flying from her mouth - she just let it rip like it was nothing to sneeze on somethingt that was going to hold a customer's food. Or maybe even on a customer's food, if the plate she was packaging up was on a counter or table in front of her - I didn't see that much, and honestly didn't want to keep looking. That kind of made me cringe and look at my own styrofoam container of lasagne in a different, less yummy light. Not sure if we'll be back, unfortunately. Close to home friendly staff and pretty awesome pizza... the down sides: The chairs in the dinning area are in absolute need of serious steam cleaning they are dirty to a level I would call very serious. The seat support cushions are gone your derrière sits in a hole.. The menu hasn't changed in years.. the price is getting higher and higher.. and attention to details is falling to the way side.. the veggies taste like they have just been microwave from the Safeway bag and thrown on the cold plate, don't expect anything fresh The other day I had the half chicken.. It felt like or tasted like it had dried up after being re-heated 2 or 3 more time.. I do that at home but not expecting that at a restaurant where I pay good money. It's been a few years since I've been up in Edmonton . Came up for a concert an to see a few friends , that I hung out with when I lived here . They all agreed we should go to Capitol pizza . The restaurant was clean along with the restrooms . The pizza was excellent an the cheese they put on top of it was excellent . Our host was very accommodating . There was ten of us . I am proud to say that this place is legendary and it deserves credit for its quality and longevity over the years (not to mention changes in management). When it opened in 1976, it was my very first introduction to pizza(I was six years old at the time and it was an unforgettable experience). Through pivotal moments in my life such as birthday parties, hockey banquests, and unsuccessful first dates (LOL), Capital Pizza has always produced a delicious mom and pop ambiance and flavour to its pizza that has been sadly lacking from chain pizza places. Although they have diversified their menu over the years, the classic pies such as pepperoni, Hawaiian, and beef and onion continue to be a time tested classic. I hope to give my kids the same experience I had of having amazing pizza, when they get old enough! read more

The food was excellent, we were served right away, and they are in deed on top of their game. I ordered take out from Capital Pizza & Steakhouse tonight, and let me tell you -- This place has definitely gone downhill. First I called to make sure they used real pepperoni and not the 'baloney style' pepperoni and they assured me that they used 100% real pepperoni just like at Pizza Hut. Well, lo and behold, when I get my pizza, it's the shitty cheapo low quality pepperoni you get when you order pizza from shady Hell's Angels front operation. When I called to complain, they pretended not to know what I was talking about and insisted that they used 'Pizza Hut' style pepperoni. Since when did Pizza Hut start putting dog meat on their pizzas? On top of that, when I ordered, I tried using a coupon and the guy on the phone argued with me about what was on the coupon even though I was holding it right in front of my face. Not like the coupon helped much anyway. I paid $60 for a pizza, lasagne, salad, and some poutine, and was extremely disappointed to find that their 'large' would be called a medium any other place in the city. This place way over charges for mediocre food. They can't decide if they're a Greek or Italian place, and they do neither well. To sum things up, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. I suspect since they built the new building for their restaurant, they've run into financial trouble because they sure are cutting corners on their food. read more

I have only had take out from this restaurant in the past. I decided to dine in this time. We had several pizzas with a variety of toppings and they were truly delicious. In my opinion, they have the best pizza in Edmonton. I have never tried any other items since I always order the pizza. My husband and I are here on a Tuesday night on the restaurant side and we were one of the only customers there. As we were eating, tons of people came in for their pick up orders and I assume this is because they had buy one get one half off for their pizza. The food was to die for, my husband had the meat lovers pizza and I had the buffalo chicken burger. Both were very good, we are until we were going to burst. The only area that was somewhat lacking was the service, our server was very nice but didn't come to check on us or notice that our drinks were empty until we flagged her down. Our food also took quite a long time to come out, but once it came it was worth the wait. We will be back for sure, probably doing take out instead of dining in. read more

Dropped in at 9:30 on a Saturday night. Waited at least 5 minutes to be acknowledged, then told to sit anywhere. We asked to sit outside on their patio (as the sign says, "Patio Now Open"). This seemed to be a big problem. It was a beautiful evening and I prefer to enjoy the outdoors whenever possible.
