I went car shopping with my dad who is in a scooter and after idk 5 or 8 dealerships we were really feeling fatigiued (mostly me) My dad is very particular .. he was looking for a dealership where the sales people weren't hankering for a sale and being pushy, while also wanting to feel like he was getting a good deal. We came on an evening and found a young man who was very courteous and nice to my dad, and his sales partner was very friendly and asked my dad a ton of questions. Honestly if you really want a sale, be extra nice to handicapped people bc my dad was in a better buying mood. Maybe it was relating to being filipino who knows, i dont know the secret sauce or what my dad was looking for LOL Overall my own experience is based on their treatment of my dad, getting him in a car that was close to the number my dad wanted to pay. My experience with sales, great! My experience with service the first time I went, great! My experience with service on my second visit? What. Just. Happened. My service tech was very nice and professional. She recommended the alignment and something else. When she i formed me the waiter would be 3 hours with the oil change and alignment, I opted to get a ride home and not wait at the dealership. Came back 3 hours later because I had an event later than afternoon, spent money on an Uber because that was the cheapest (still not super cheap, but beggars can't be choosers), and arrived at the service department only to be told that they needed an additional 40 minutes. I said no, I needed to be somewhere. So she said they needed 15 minutes, cool. I could wait 15. 15 turned i to 30+ only to learn "hey, the machine didn't work, so you're good to go." In my head I'm like wait, so you have had my car for over 3 hours, and it took you that long to figure out your machine didn't work? I would have just stayed for the oul change, but now I dropped a pretty penny to get back here only to be told the machine was not working?! More frustrating, I keep trying to call the service department to speak to someone about getting reimbursed for the damn Uber. No luck getting through. I am definitely not happy right now. read more

Very disappointing experience! I agreed to the dealership's quoted out-the-door price and went in to get a signed purchase agreement so I could bring a bank check. After two hours, they never provided the paperwork and never actually told me they wouldn't sell me the car at that price. Instead, I was left waiting while the manager was supposedly "in a meeting." The online price appears to be used to get customers in the door and then push add-ons or financing. I was also told by Jamie they had to run my credit on purchases over $10,000, even if I wasn't financing through them, that it was the law! After I left, my texts went unanswered. Very poor communication and unprofessional handling of the situation. The one positive was Chris, we really liked him. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience overshadowed by Mark, Sergio, and Jamie. read more

My wife scheduled an appointment for a check-engine light. The earliest appointment was about 3 weeks out at that point. Once our appointment date arrived, we dropped off her car and were told it would take 3-5 days for them to get check out the car. So what was the appointment for? It's been 10 days after drop-off so far and not only have we not received an update but the automated answering machine says that our vehicle is not there. We attempted to contact Kaitlyn, our service coordinator, by phone and text many times to no response. Just today we were told she was busy with another customer and would call us back, but that never happened. We are concerned that not only has the vehicle not been inspected yet and based on the automated system, we cannot confirm whether it is actually on the premises. Difficult to know with lack of communication. We've also had to rent a car for 2 weeks so far, which is getting expensive. read more

I was interested in a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N in a specific color that Dalton Hyundai showed as available. I confirmed its availability, agreed on numbers that were very competitive, and scheduled a same day test drive intending to skip negotiations since we had already discussed everything. During the first test drive, the salesperson seemed unfamiliar with the car's features. When the vehicle was accidentally set to manual mode, I was shifting gears while she was attempting to adjust the artificial engine noise, creating a confusing and unprofessional experience. Back at the dealership, I was handed over to another salesperson who was far more knowledgeable, and the second test drive went smoothly. However, upon returning, the manager informed me the car had already been sold. Dalton Hyundai wasted my time and effort by confirming availability, having me test drive the car twice, and then telling me it was sold out from under me. This was unprofessional and frustrating, and I cannot recommend this type of customer handling. read more

Arrived 10 minutes early for a 10:45am appointment. Greeted after 5 minutes, signed the estimate (for simple oil and rotation), and proceeded to the waiting lounge. It's now 12pm. Just walked outside for some air. The car hasn't moved from the check-in spot. Five employees chatting in front of the hood of my Tucson. Talked to my "advisor" and asked if the car was done or has it even been checked at all. He goes to the computer, types for a second, then asks, "Michael, right...?" "Yes." "It looks like it hasn't been serviced yet." "Why did I make an appointment in that case?" "Um, I'm sorry about that. Just give us another 30 minutes." He says this unironically as I'm standing underneath the large banner on their exterior. (see photo) UPDATE: Now 1:15pm. Still not done. UPDATE 2: Now 1:30pm. Still not done. 2 hours 45 minutes and counting... UPDATE 3: 1:50pm. Car is done. They offered me a 5% discount. I elevated my displeasure to the Service Manager. She comp'ed the service entirely. I like the used car I bought. I liked the salesperson I bought it from. He was a nice guy. This review is more for the nightmare that was getting my regular license plates for the car. About 7 weeks after bought the car, I received a phone call from the dealership that they needed to verify the VIN number... setting aside we don't live very close to National City, I would have let that slide and said nothing at all if a couple weeks later I got my plates and it was resolved. It wasn't. Fast forward to ~3-4 weeks later (A week before my temporary plates were set to expire) and increasingly tired of getting nowhere with Dalton I reached out to the DMV to see what was going on and was told the paperwork they received from Dalton was incomplete and sent back. Obviously we were worried about this at this point because, well, it's illegal to drive a car with expired temporary tags so I asked Antonio and Daniel in finance to get this settled. Their "solution" if you could call it that was to go ahead and keep driving the car illegally and trust them to cover any tickets we might get in the interim, which even if I believed they would do it is an insane recommendation. Since being encouraged to break the law didn't feel great and I was a little incredulous they couldn't offer any other viable option, I decided to stop all communication with Dalton unless I needed to, and ask the DMV what I could do to keep driving the car, and they gave me a TOP which allowed me to keep driving legally while it got settled (after wondering aloud why it was me asking for it and not the dealership getting one for us, and also recommending we make a formal complaint to the DMV about this - which we didn't do). I also decided to just keep working with the DMV directly to make sure they had everything and, to be honest, the DMV was much more helpful than Dalton was. And now we have the plates....so the long debacle is finally over. So I guess if you're going to a lesson from this...I'm not saying don't shop there. Like I said, I like the car a lot, the price was fair, and we liked the salesperson. But after the deal is done...make sure you keep following up with them to make sure they do what they need to do and that everything is sorted, even if they tell you there's nothing to worry about. read more

Do NOT buy an EV from Dalton Hyundai if you want to get the Federal EV Tax Credit! Dealerships are required to provide a Time of Sale report when you purchase a vehicle, and you are required to submit this report when claiming the $7500 tax credit. I forgot to ask Dalton for this form when signing my papers while taking delivery, and when I asked for it the next day got three days of runaround before being flatly told that they would not submit the form to the IRS, so now I cannot get the tax credit. They claim that I do not need the form to get the tax credit, but guidance on the IRS's website is very clear that you cannot receive the credit without this form, and it has to be the dealership that submits it. (It is clearly stated at Step 4 at this link: https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/how-to-claim-a-clean-vehicle-tax-credit) You can get your Hyundai EV for $7500 less if go you somewhere else, I definitely suggest you do so! (And I wish I had remembered to ask about this before signing paperwork on my vehicle, now I'm just out this $7500.) read more

Do NOT Take Your Car to Dalton Hyundai for Service. I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with the service department at Dalton Hyundai in National City. I brought my Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid in for an oil change, which is supposed to be complimentary under the 3-year free maintenance agreement. However, the service advisor attempted to charge me $70 for the oil change. I had to question the charge because my vehicle is clearly still covered. On top of that, they upsold me a brake fluid exchange service and charged me over $150. My vehicle is only 2.5 years old with just under 21,000 miles. After doing my own research, I found that this service was not yet necessary and wouldn't have been due for approximately another nine months. This experience left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. I strongly recommend double-checking any services they suggest and reviewing your maintenance schedule carefully before agreeing to additional work. Based on my experience, I do not trust their recommendations. Do NOT take your care to this dealership for routine service. read more

Was looking for a replacement for my parents minivan and Dalton Hyundai had a good deal for a certified 2025 Hyundai Tucson with 4k miles (it was a service loaner). Boris greeted us at the door and went right away to the used lot to bring the car over. Showed us the features took it for a test drive and then went to talk numbers. NO hard sell on the dealer add ons which would have been a dealbreaker for us. Ended up with the windshield replacement plan which will pay for itself if we need a windshield replacement. Declined the 4k extended warranty 10/100 compressive along with declining the paint pro and security. Antonio was the finance manager and he was able to offer a 10yr 60k compressive warranty (only excludes items instead of only cover selected items) for $1,900 which was worth it as my parents only drive about 6k miles a year. Again no hard sell no you have to buy this it's already "installed". No large apr markups eithe Would do business with Boris and Antonio again for sure. read more

I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Palisade in October 2024 from this dealership, and this has been my BIGGEST regret.I was so excited to finally upgrade and drive off in a brand-new car, only for that moment to be completely ruined. As I was about to leave, they stopped me and said, "We sold you the wrong car." I was extremely disappointed because that was the exact car I had chosen and wanted. I did not want to give it back, but they made me sign another contract anyway. The sales manager Mark approved and was present for this entire transaction, so this was not a misunderstanding or miscommunication.On top of that, the replacement vehicle they gave me is more expensive, which is not what I originally agreed to. The replacement car they gave me wasn't even washed. At that point, the excitement of buying a new car was completely gone.Since then, the car I currently have has had transmission issues. Beto, who is working with my car, kept telling me this was "normal." It is absolutely not normal. It took over a year just to get a loaner vehicle because they never seemed to care enough to help.My car is currently in the shop and has been there for a full week. They never returned my calls, so I had to go in person for an update. When I asked what work had been done, they told me nothing had been worked on.There was also a recall on my vehicle. They told me they had the part and would fix it but they didn't. While I was there, I overheard Beto on the phone with Angelica referring to me as "the one that complains a lot." That was extremely unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe having him work on my car. Angelica did apologize, but the damage was already done. After keeping my car for 7 days, nothing was fixed not even the recall. If I hadn't asked specifically about the seatbelt recall, they never would have addressed it. What's worse is they gave me paperwork stating the recall was completed when it wasn't. Now I have to return again just to have it fixed.Overall, this dealership only cares about selling you a car. Once the sale is done, you're completely on your own. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism has been incredibly frustrating. So I now have a trade in I didn't get paid for, a new car I can't drive, and I'm paying out of pocket for a rental. I have had no issues with this dealership up until now. When I bought my car in 2023, I received excellent care and that is what sold me to even buy after one test drive. Unfortunately after dropping off my car on January 4th, I got the worst news possible. Not only did I find out my car was crashed by a mechanic on site but I was not even notified the minute it happened. I had to call to check in on my car due to having been three days. I personally have a very busy job schedule and personal life. Having a reliable car is very important. When I was handed over the loaner car, since the service agent Stephanie told me they would take care of the damage, another employee Andy made me feel intimidated. She warned me to bring back the car to them as how I was given the car and that felt like a slap to the face as I trusted them with my car and it got severely damaged. Not only was I really inconvenienced as I have to cross the border multiple times a week and with the loaner car I couldn't, I felt as though Dalton Hyundai had no remorse for what they had done. Once I finally got my car back almost 16 days later, I was not only felt like I was being rushed out of the service center but they didn't even offer to cover expenses of my maintenance check up. I was told by Stephanie when I walked over to see my car that I should be thankful I have the right insurance because people who are waiting weeks on end don't and can't get a loaner car. That's where I drew the line and just needed to get out of there. Such a disrespectful thing to say to a customer especially when I should need to "have the right insurance" because this was not my fault. I honestly don't even expect a free oil change but just for all the inconveniences even just offering it would've been nicer than the back handed gestures I got. Now I feel like my car is valued less than what it is actually worth and it does not drive the same. The car was slammed into their concrete wall of course it won't drive the same. Kearny Mesa Hyundai told me, unapologetically, it would take two weeks to DIAGNOSE this and there was no loaners. So I was very anxious about haggling with another dealership to get this done. I knew the software update alone was going to take several days to complete per the appt line. Stephanie at Dalton was terrific! She arranged for a loaner as both the update and fixing the overheating issue was going to be several days. Her understanding helped sooth my riled up emotions. They returned my car to me broken and then charged me extra $289 to fix it. I brought my car in for oil change and maintenance which took the whole day instead of the estimated 4 hours. I dropped my car at 9AM and it wasnt "ready" until 5PM. I paid ~$300 for the oil change and maintenance. When I drove off the lot, not even one block away I noticed that my car shook when I accelerated past ~20ish mph and the check engine light started flashing. I did a U turn and immediately brought my car back. They kept it over night and diagnosed it the next day. They said an ignition coil failed and to replace it would cost an additional $389. I complained stating that my car was fine and working when I brought it in but they did not claim responsibility. After a week I caved in and took the $100 "discount" because I needed my car back. I feel swindled. This whole experience left me very dissatisfied. I will not be coming back to this dealership and I don't recommend going to this location. read more

Do yourself a favor and NEVER buy a Hyundai. We bought a 2014 Sonata back in 2014 because they promised this beautiful 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty. The engine seized before the 100,000miles. They replaced it and gave us a new-lifetime warranty for it. When the huge lawsuit towards them and their cars happened we didn't join because we felt taken care of. Mistake!!!! The same thing started happening to the new engine (under its new 100,000miles) and they didn't want to replace it because they recommend a $726 combustion cleaning THAT ISNT EVEN PART OF THE CARS MAINTENANCE and if that didn't work, they would replace it. BUT THEN, it would be past its 100,000 miles. According to this warranty, everything having to do with the engine is supposed to be covered by Hyundai of North America. The corporate lady said it would be covered and then it was denied twice. I get that no car is without defect but this was complete crap. DONT BUY FROM HYUNDAl. The service manager never once talked to us, the service advisor was a lost new kid and corporate didn't want to honor their own warranty. If you have a Hyundai, sell it, trade it, get anything else. You may like them now, but it won't last. read more
