Let's start w very poor service! I could review play by play but if u don't mind being here forever w empty cups and dirty empty plates then u won't mind . Also if u don't mind asking for something 2-3 times and it taking 15-20 min , you'll be fine . Small restaurant, so from my observations it's not under staffed its the laziest slowest not paying attention at all waitresses. The food was good 3 star's not great but good. Came out hot but one by one and we where only a four top, 12min for last dish after first dish came out. They up charge for everything even flour tortilla chips but don't tell you in advanced . This is the most suckiest mexican restaurant ever. Poor service and the waiters dnt care about assisting you at all. You request for napkins and server takes more than 10-15 mins to bring you any (and it was not a busy day either) you order shrimps and the waiter states that they will bring you shrimp cocktail but brings you ketchup instead. You bring that to their attention, and they just ignore you and don't assist you anymore. Another 10-15 mins goes by (after bugging them numerous times) they come back stating they are out of shrimp cocktail. You order a plate of chile verde and chile colorado and they only give you 4 piece of meat of each one. Lol! What a joke and they charge you $16 for that plate. Suck ass restaurant. Save your money. The fifteen minute wait to get seated even though there were empty tables was not a good start. I'm glad I stayed. My order was taken right away and my food and drink came pretty fast. I had the combo #1...enchilada, chile relleno, tostada, taco and rice and beans. The flavors were all good. Too bad the crispy taco was soggy. Still, the carnitas inside were really good. My first time at this restaurant. I was served with chips, warm at that, with tomato salsa and beans. The chips were fresh and has fried flour tortilla chips mixed in. It was a good touch to the chips. For the main dish I ordered Chile Relleno and it was good. The sauce tasted good but I wish they have pieces of tomatoes and bell pepper in it. Our family has been here a few times and enjoy the food. The kids love the bean dip with the fresh flour tortilla chips and we enjoy the salsa and corn chips. We came in about 2 or 3 weeks ago and got the Pozole and Menudo. I enjoyed my Pozole but the hubby was disappointed with the size portion of the Menudo. He said it felt like a kids bowl and that he was expecting a real Menudo sized bowl. Other than that our food and service has been great. Can't beat the service, food and pricing. Came out to celebrate my kiddos B-day. 3 adults, 5 kids all for under $60! Had the steak fajitas, wife had the green enchiladas from the make your own plate menu, sis had taquitos and each kid had the $5.95 kids meal, which came loaded and with a drink. Margaritas and bean dip are very good. Servers were attentive and polite. Pozole was excellent. Portion sizes are very large.

Excellent food and service but salsa would need improving. Draught beer was served in the wrong glass instead of a mug but the glass was chilled so all good. Superfast service. Our order was served within 5-10 minutes. read more

The pozole is always the best especially on a cold day, it's uniquely made w miaz morado hominy which to me is the best kind! An the al pastor tacos... O to the M to the G!! Was seated as soon as I walked in the door. Had a cold Dos XX served within a couple minutes. Chips, salsa, & bean dip quickly followed. ....what else could a hungry traveler need! We would of loved to try the food, but the service was terrible, and left us waiting to be seated for over half an hour while the place wasn't even half full. They even seated people before us. We waited at least 15 mins for our order to be taken& during that wait 2 of us ran out of soda& all the chips were gone. Okay I can look past that but when our food did arrive, mine "wet " burrito was definetly wet- but also cold:( like I said maybe they were having an off day! I will give it another shot. This was very close to our hotel and we do enjoy good Mexican food. We rated this on our standard entrees we always order when evaluating a Mexican restaurant. The chile rellenos were pre-made , not fluffy at all. The chile verde was just some roasted pork cubes with some green sauce on top and very dry. This is our favorite Mexican Restaurant in town. El Rosal, owned by the same family we understand is also good but has moments of inconsistent service and food prep. Damian's has a nice ambiance, customer service has been excellent on all of the 15 visits we've had and prices are very good for the complete experience. Unlimited chips, salsa, with the corn & flour chips combo, and beans for dipping is a real treat. We often times judge a Mexican cuisine restaurant by the basics...rice and beans, and chili rellenos. Best in town. I love the combo plate and wife orders a lot of salad and ala carte items and are hot and delicious. Thank you Damian. If I could give 0 stars, I would do that. Damiens has been our fav place for Mexican food for about 3 years... We would go once a week. We have had 1 good waitress. Tonight we went and in my husbands taco was a 2 1/2" chicken bone. The waitress was very apologetic..however, when we received our bill, they deducted nothing! Really? That is horrible customer service. At the very least, they should have not charged for my husbands meal. If I were the manager, the complete bill would have been comped. When my husband asked the manager she was a bitch. She finally took off the price of his meal but her comment was "we use real chicken, those things will happen" ... hmmmm I don't think so! She was stone faced and obviously cared nothing about good customer service. Asta la veesta, Damien's. You just lost a few regular customers and we will be telling everyone we know. read more

Service is extremely slow to begin with at this restaurant. Once they finally take your order, the service finally kicks in, as well. I would give this place a 0 if I could. They ruined my daughter's 21st birthday!! First hour we waited for them to bring us our drinks. 2nd hour we waited for our food. They seemed to forget people's drinks and food each time. The waitresses ignored us the whole time. We had to find them for refills of chips and water. The food was horrible. 2 hours into the whole ordeal my husband's legs cramped from waiting for his meal. Enough was enough. I asked for a manager and they all pointed to each other. They blamed each other for being new then they had me on the phone with a man who claimed he wasn't the manager after I was told he was. I read other reviews and figured I would give this place a chance. Being from San Diego I have great places to compare to. I would give the benefit of the doubt so the evening started off well. But then went downhill fast. The chips were great and the Cadillac margarita was good or average. The waitress said the fajitas were the best meal in the house so I ordered that (Monday special) with Carne Asada. Overcooked/burnt. Tough. Flavorless. Tough start to dinner. They provided two tortillas and soon I wanted a third one. Wanted more pico de gallo. Figured some cheese might be a nice twist. The bill came...extra $.50 and $.50 and $1.50. Asked the third server about it..."yup, extra charge" for the extras. But the bigger issue was the service, or lack of it. There were maybe 4 occupied tables while I was there. Waited for a long time to get another margarita. Double that time to get the extra tortilla. This was a very averaged meal - if that. And a very nice waitress working as a team all with overall inattentive service. Frustrating since the place was almost empty. The saving grace is this: the Albondigas soup was very good. Next time I would come for the soup and call that a dinner and leave. Certainly not a bad night but nothing memorable either. Been here the past 2 nights (staying at Springhill Suites) and have left both nights with a full belly (one meal & 2 margaritas).
