Was staying In Modesto for work and chose La Hacienda since it was close to my hotel Small unassuming place where the woman who owns the place waiting tables. Had the beef taco/chicken burrito combo. My husband and I just moved to Salida and there are a bunch of Taco trucks and we happened to go to La Hacienda because I wanted a shrimp burrito. The food is great! I ordered a shrimp burrito and what I loved about it was that the shrimps were a nice size and they weren't all chopped up like other places that try to be stingy with their sea food. They were delicious! I recommend this place and I look forward to coming here again! They also gave us big containers of Salsa! read more

I wonder why my review was taken down?! All I can say is that the food isn't authentic Mexican food. The server/owner has a horrible attitude. When I went to pay, I gave her my credit card and said "what? You don't have cash?" I told her I did but I want to pay with credit card. She then rolled her eyes as she swiped my card. This little eatery is truly awesome. I used to work down the street, and would come here at least once a week for lunch. I haven't worked there in nearly 7 years, but I keep coming back. Lupe, the waitress, is so friendly and truly cares. If you become a regular, she gets to know you, your family, and what your usual order is. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and there has been nothing that I didn't like. My favorite is the Chile Verde or the chicken Chimichanga. I can't decide which. The Steak a la Mexicana is very tasty as well. Seriously, I have never had a bad meal there. For us, the food was bland and seemed not to be very fresh. The refried beans had a strange flavor. It took a while to come out, despite the restaurant being slow. The waitress (I think it was the owner) wasn't particularly friendly. In an area saturated with good Mexican food, La Hacienda fell short in pretty much every area that I would rate a restaurant by. Always on the look out for a place to have lunch now that I'm working in Modesto again. This place was fairly close, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's a simple sort of restaurant with Formica tables along side a railroad crossing, that in itself gives the place a kind of quaint charm. The food is not bad but the deal killer here was when I was charged $1 for using my debit/credit card. Of course you don't see this extra charge until you walk up to the counter to pay. It's easy to miss, but if you look around enough, there's a note taped to the side of the wall by the counter.. If you do fail to notice, the charge will be on your receipt, but no one will bother to mention it in advance. I do not ask businesses to pay my banking fees, and I do not expect to be forced to pay theirs. This is simply a cost of doing business. I personally feel the victim of a robbery, regardless of the smallness of the amount. As a result I will never return to this establishment and for that reason, it gets the lowest rating possible. read more
