*Disclaimer*, this review is via my Wife. Im not into the "pampering process" so to speak, but I'm more than happy that this business exist in our neighborhood. The Wife: Donna is fabulous! I love her energy, attention to detail and the care she puts into her product development, ambiance and services. Today was my first time purchasing her eyebrow service and I fell in love. Not only does Donna hook you up proper with her clippers (instead of the usual waxing, threading or tweezing you get at the nail shop or other sub-par establishments that claim to do eyebrows), she added a little extra oomph by filling in the brows and adding complimentary basic make-up. Her 20+ years of make-up artistry makes her extremely knowledgable about what she does and her body, facial and bath products smell heavenly. We purchased her cocoa mango and cocoa rose hand-cut soaps and we can't wait to try them. I'm looking forward to getting a facial done soon! Thanks Donna! read more

Went for the first time today after a rec and reading such great reviews. I've never had a regular aesthetician, but definitely have one now. Damsel was very professional and warm and friendly. Hard to be at the end of the day with your last client, so that in itself won me over. She also took time to talk to me about my skin and why I could be having issues. She made some recommendations and gave me a small sample of a face cleanser that she makes herself. She did this without pushing products on me, which is so appreciated. I've come to Damselfly for facials and have been won over to her products (I get her cleanser and oil). My skin has gotten noticeably better since going to her. Damsel (the owner) makes all her products and is super fun to talk to about her work. She just switched over to an online booking and purchasing system which is making scheduling easier. I love her but definitely don't expect a deluxe spa experience - she is the sole employee as far as I know and it's a one room space with a divider for privacy. It doesn't usually work to do walk-ins for scheduling or buying product because she's busy with clients. But it's worth getting past those hurdles for her services and product! read more

I've been to Damsel three times now and feel a review is overdue! I have received great service every time! My first visit was to get eyelash extensions, It was my first time getting them and I had about an hour and a few mins to do them because I had to get to the airport for a flight. Damsel was able to get them done quickly and being the perfectionist that she is, they came out amazing. On my second visit, I opted for shorter extensions, Damsel knew just what to do and worked her magic, an hour and a half later (after a short nap on her table), I had beautiful, natural-looking lashes. On my third visit, I got the deep facial (60mins) and the entire experience was wonderful and relaxing. She was gentle with her extractions but meticulous. The products felt wonderful on my skin and my skin looked great after I left. A couple of days later and my skin still feels great and looks very smooth. I'll definitely be adding facials at Damselfly to my skincare regimen. read more

Today was my first visit at Damselfly's charming little spot on Nostrand. I simply couldn't have asked for a more pleasant, caring, lovely, and professional experience. Though I came prepared to suffer a rough post-winter full-leg waxing, Damselfly did her magic and performed a nearly painless and flawless treatment. She was kind and sensitive, and offered to use a special spray to numb the pain (containing natural ingredients only). This worked amazing and I barely felt a thing! It gets better: to sooth my skin after waxing each leg Damselfly generously applied a wonderful Jojoba-Lavender body oil that she manufactures herself -- leaving my skin feeling smooth, calm, and blissful. She isn't a damsel in distress. Believe that! I found Damsel on the third day of the month. The Trinity. The empress. And as soon as I walked into her beauty Oasis, that's exactly how I felt. Damsel was super courteous, hilarious and beautiful inside and out. Her space is gorgeous and incredibly soothing and relaxing. When I came to Damsel, I was wanting eyelash extensions but very discouraged and apprehensive as in the past, they've made my eyes react. The application appointment/process was one that I dreaded. My previous place charged 3X the price and didn't listen to or work with me when I was vocalizing my issues with my lashes. Damsel completely changed the game and I walk out of their happy and satisfied with her work every single time. Damsel is great! I've gone to her twice! You are the only customer there at the time of your service so it is very private and her complete focus is on you. This place is everything that customer service and skincare should be. I went yesterday for a facial and after getting a bit early was handled with professionalism and care. Damsel was so sweet and realize she made a light booking error, she IMMEDIATELY let both of us know we would be taken care of. I had the longer service and arrived early, so I would be getting services after. She took her time but was efficient with the client before me and then checked on me periodically. When my service started I was so thrilled with her work. Her massage techniques and methods for opening the pores were soothing and felt amazing. The products she used(all hers) were all natural and smell divine. She talked to me about my reason for visiting, issues, history and goals so we could get on a productive path to great skin. Had the best experience and I understand why the owner has such great reviews. The place was clean, smelled heavenly, and she used scents that I am use too; I felt at home. She does all the work her self and makes the product she uses for the services. I received three service at a prince I would pay somewhere else for one. I purchased a Groupon for a facial and massage. I get massages regularly, and have probably only had 2-3 facials in my life. Both were divine. My facial skin felt so soft for the next day. The extractions didn't hurt much either. I could have had a longer massage, which is rare for me. Normally I start to get anxious around the 45 minute mark. The 60 min massage was perfect. I think I'm in trouble having this spa located so closely to me! read more

Str8 to the point. I'm extremely sensitive down there and I went to get a Brazilian wax at damsel after a horrifying experience at a previous place. I said never again but was convinced to try Damselfly. She was amazing! She took her time made me feel relax now not gon lie wax is painful but she cares to the area after each wax off. She talked to me about my skin I purchased her products n she did not pushed them on me. She just explained what they do n wat I love is she made them herself all natural. I purchased oatmeal soap for my kids that have eczema n I purchased shaebutter for myself. Aaaand she sells clothing GREAT PRICE. I purchased a shirt n jean jacket for total of $10. Can't beat that. I went to Damselfly last week and got my lip and chin waxed. Donna, the owner (who appears to do all the work herself) is extremely skilled at what she does, a real professional. Normally when I get waxed, my skins breaks out into pimples afterwards, because I have very sensitive skin. But this time- no pimples at all! I was really amazed. Damselfly also has a lovely storefront and provides a nice relaxing environment. But even though it looks nice, the prices are cheap. That wax cost me about half of what I used to pay for the same work in Fort Green. Damselfly is my new go-to spot for waxing- you should try it, too. read more

My skin is smooth and glowing. The massage was *phenomenal* (this is compared to numerous massages at Bliss 49, Skin Spa, Haven Soho and Asanda Aveda Spa Lounge, in the order of enjoyment). The first time I went here I swore up and down to myself that I'd write a review - time to make amends. I've been here twice now and I absolutely love it. First, the place manages to strike this perfect balance between luxe, earthy and cozy. I went to Damselfly last week to get a foot massage. I wound up getting a facial the next day. Donna Brown is a wonderfully skilled beautician and a beautiful human being. My appointment was at 10:45am, and I got to the shop by 10:43. When I arrived at to the owners place of business she wasn't even there yet. Then I realized that the shop didn't open until 11:00am. I called the shop number, and the owner informed me that she was on her way. Ok, so now we are finally inside the shop by 10:47. Now I have to wait for the owner to set up. So we don't officially start until like 11:00am. I came in to do lash extensions and eyebrow shape/tint. While doing my lashes, the owner says, "For future reference you should let me know that you have curly lashes, because I charge more for them." Wow, ok. I'm thinking, you're the expert, so maybe you should have asked me. My lashes took like 2 hours to do, so that's why I even gave 2 stars. It did turn out ok. 2 days later, and some of the lashes are kind of falling apart. I don't know if this is normal, since this is the first time in a very long time that I have gotten them done. Or maybe it's because I got the synthetic lashes. Also, while doing my lashes, she also started talking about one of her clients, which wasn't the most positive. Now towards the end of doing my lashes there was some kind of miscommunication. Before we even started, Damsel told me to "Ask for permission before I opened my eyes." So when she told me to look down towards my nose, I kind of opened my eyes, and she literally talked down to me as if I was her child. Ok, so Damsel has another appointment come in by 1:00pm. The customer was waiting while I was doing my lashes. When she finished doing my lashes, it was about 1:25pm, and instead of finishing my next service (brow shaping/tint), she goes on to service her next client, while I patiently wait in the lounge area. When it's time to start my brow shaping, she uses clippers. That's fine because I'm all for new experiences. Although, she did miss a few spots, which from my past experiences, tweezers are used. When she did the tint, my eyebrows looked crazy. My eyebrows looked so thick, and looked like I drew on several layers of dark eye pencil. I thought after the tint, some of the residue was supposed to be wiped off. Overall it wasn't the best experience, and will continue with my search to find my go to spot. read more
