I am extremely satisfied with the experience I had with Geico. Patricia was the agent who helped me today and she was excellent. She really took her time to explain my policy and help me figure out exactly what I needed. I'm kind of an annoying customer that asks lots of questions and I take up a lot of time. Patricia was very patient and I am very happy with my experience. I've used Mercury insurance and Progressive insurance in the past, but this experience with Geico set the bar much higher. read more

Worthless customer service. I emailed Carlos, the agent who sold me the policy and asked about making changes in my auto insurance. I received the following email in response: "Give me a call a couple days before the 26th of august to make changes on your policy." Uh, my policy expires JUNE 25, 2021, not AUGUST. I called to make inquires about my policy and a pending claim. A really aloof man answered the phone, took two seconds to hear me, and transferred my call to the toll free claims line. I called back and finally reached Carlos. Of course, after his apologies, I explained what I wanted to change. He gave me a quote. I asked him to email me the confirmation. Never received it. Today, I called the main Customer Service line and was able to finally get assistance. Paid my new premium over the phone. GEICO's rates are pretty cheap and of course, so is the service from the local agents. read more

This is a shell of an office. It's not a real GEICO facility. Just a bunch of people selling insurance over the phone. Like a call center. The only thing they do here is take payments. AND THEY ARE HELLA RUDE. I had an extremely urgent issue and had tried for 3 days to resolve it by calling the main Geico number and through the app. But nobody could assist me with my particular issue. I drove to my "local Geico office" in Concord. Naturally, I was upset, but trying to be polite. I was speaking to the people up front when an older woman came from a back cubicle and SCREAMED AT ME. She was so condescending and referred me to the 1-800 number. I told her that I had called that number multiple times and had even spoken to a few people, but nobody could help me, or even answer my question. Her response, "You need to just keep trying." The head agent, "Dan Chao" either does not exist or works elsewhere. If you call the number underneath his headshot on the website, it will route you to the main 1-800 number. I tried emailing "Dan Chao" before going down to the location. "Patricia" emailed me back telling me that I had emailed her "boss" and "what did I need?" I emailed her back my phone number and she replied that she would call me back. Nothing. She then sent me another email saying that "she had tried calling me, but to no avail." Funny, my phone was next to me all day, never rang, and I didn't have a missed call or voicemail from "Patricia." I emailed her back and she invited me to call their local number. This "local number" is one digit away from the "Dan Chau'" number and also routes to the main 1-800 number. "Patricia" then extended an invitation for me to come down to their office. Guess what? When I get to the office, I'm told by the receptionist that, "Patricia doesn't work at this location." So, I'm back to square one with absolutely no way to get my question answered, or help me solve my issue. I will be canceling my Geico home and auto policies once this issue is resolved. read more

On hold to speak to someone in person and its now going on 2 hours 45 minutes on hold. I started the call at 12:30 pm PST. Im in CA. I have been a member now for 6 years. During that time I've had to report 3 accidents. They never take a call, never. Online it takes about 1 1/2 hours to complete one simple claim. This time I "had" to speak to someone before submitting a claim due to situation. I was on hold to their service number 2 hours 38 minutes and it kept coming saying "Go to our online to submit a claim. We can send you a link right now, its fast and easy." First off, let me say that I appreciate this location picking up my phone call. Other places were not accepting call due to availability. I also love writing reviews to praise because I never really have bad experiences but I have to put this out their. I needed a copy of my insurance sent to my email which I have done before. I verified all the info and my name is on the insurance. Whoever I spoke to said, the primary had to call to make changes. I don't want to make changes... just my insurance emailed to me for work which I was told by another facility that I called after my horrible experience with you guys could do. I also had the primary on a joint call for the other facility just in case. That representative probably can teach you guys basic phone etiquette. He was on point from when he answered the phone Whoever helped me at this location wasn't much help and had to put me on hold to verify basic things when my name is on the account and I have all the information needed. Also, probably needs to perk up a little due to the tone of your voice sounding unpleasant. Its not really welcoming and I could feel that from the start. My car was stolen and damaged by the robbers. There were body fluids on the drivers seat and the agent told me that the seat would be replaced. After waiting for about 2 weeks they told me that they decided NOT to replace the seat but deep clean it instead. So now whenever it is hot outside I can smell urine. I Lysol my seat every time before I drive just to try to kill the smell and bacteria. I believe the seat was so soaked with body fluids that the did cleaning did not get everything. To me this is disgusting and inappropriate. Also, it was difficult to get ahold of the agent. read more

End of 4 page complaint: This is a horrible way to treat clients/customers, that is IF you want to retain them. Clearly this is not the intent. I'm thrilled that we do not have our home insurance with Geico- I can't even imagine if something serious happened how that claim would be handled or should I say miss-handled. Horrible Service. I bumped a car and the lady was making a big deal saying I bumped her new car a 2015 Mazda 3..... I am sure that's not a New Car, well I gave my insurgence card.....and guess what now I have a accident record Thanks to Gaico and my car insurance went $61 dollars a month ...next time If this happens again I wont give my insurance card to no one and I will pay out of pocket, is going to be cheaper and wont have a accident record for nothing. if the repair of the bumper was $1500 for nothing (I will post the pictures) and you have a accident record if it goes more than $1,000 a good insurance company will fight and don't let charge more for bump. DON'T USE GEICO Their rates may be great but the service should you need it is AWFUL. If there was a no-star I'd give them that. I STRONGLY urge you to find another auto insurance company. This one has really gone down hill from it's reputation. I've been a Geico customer for almost 30 years and never had a problem until I was rear-ended in a multi-car accident. Both the "at fault" person and I are Geico customers but Geico is treating me like an adversary. The agent, Ricky Long, was uncooperative; disrespectful, refused to give me necessary info and didn't answer my calls, telling me to go to the account on line, or sending emails in response to my voice-mails that didn't relate to my questions. Ricky also refused to give me the correct address to send my accident related bills so that Geico later said I sent them in late. They were sent on time but bounced around the company since Ricky would give me no identifying info to put on them. I spoke with this supervisor and then her supervisor asking for a different agent - they refused, saying that they operate as a team. If they operate as a team them why can't someone else on that team help me? The supervisor's supervisor called me with a slick salesman routine trying to distract me with his topics while saying he was helping me with my issue (Ricky). I will find another auto insurance company, pay more, and give them my next 30 years of business. Again: I STRONGLY urge you to find another auto insurance company. I had recommended Geico to many of my friends and relatives in the past and all of them had switched their auto insurance to Geico. But more than two months ago, I had an auto collision. We had comprehensive coverage. Police report also showed it was other party's fault. However so far, no check and no follow up from Geico. My experience with Geico totally changed my view on Geico. Initially Geico told us our car would be totaled and we would get our check fairly quick, most likely next week. But no check, nothing so far. A month ago, we received estimate of repairs from Geico. But that estimate also stated that "This is not an authorization to repair. We tried to contact Geico and adjusters about the repair, such as whether it was final decision, where to pick our car and where to get repair done. But the adjusters only have voice mail (Geico changed adjusters multiple times) and did not return out calls at all. I tried to call the claim dept, the waiting time for existing claims is super super long, more than 1 hour each time and no option for calling back.  I had to hang up after waiting for over 80 mins. So I called the number on Yelp which gave an option to call back. They called back  and gave me supervisor phone number to contact. I called, left multiple messages, still no call back. When I called back to talk about the coverage details as it had been 3 months since I had received the quote, the customer service agent, Ryan, asked me why am I calling them again and again! Obvious total loss, but they valued my truck using a number which is close to what I paid for it 3 years ago. Seems this helps them not have to record a total loss !! I switched to Geico 3 or 4 years ago from my stone age insurance company. Geico insured my cars for about half of the old school insurance - and using Geico is soooo easy! Online payments charge my credit card, email me the proof of insurance card and the web site is very easy to navigate and understand. So, okay, they don't earn their 5 stars because they have a nice website and cost half the price as my old insurance company. It was what happened after my car burned up in the Tubbs fire that thousands of homes in Sonoma County. I logged into the Geico site, and pressed the "File Claim" button. I made a few selections, upload some "before" photos and wrote an explanation for my claim: "Car burned to a crisp from Tubbs fire.". I received a call back that day from Geico to assure me a claims adjuster was assigned to my case and would contact me soon. A claims adjuster contacted me a couple of days later to explain that Geico would pay me the full value of what the car was worth. He called back a day later to say he estimated the mileage to be 89,000. I told him it was 49,000. He suggested I furnish proof and then he could make the adjustments. I took a photo of the odometer two years ago as part of my "prove you only drive a thousand miles a year" project. I sent that photo to him and he was able to calculate the mileage to be 49,080. He then asked me to give him a photo of the destroyed car, but the area has been closed off to everyone, so I had no idea when I could furnish the photo. He called back a day later saying he'd been authorized to make payment without the photo - so I was able to go down and collect my check. The whole process was painless - and the adjuster was sympathetic at my loss - knowing it was more than "just a car". Another bonus is that Geico will send around a salvage truck to haul the metal away. Oh, I didn't have to go to Pleasant Hill, Geico sent the adjuster to Rohnert Park to process all the car claims at G & C Autobody. There were lots of cars at G & C with fire damage - bumpers, tail lights and fenders melted by the heat of the fire. Thank you adjuster Leonard S and the Geico team! A painless experience. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Fair warning: I went online to get a quote and now they blow up my phone every day. And when I think it cannot get worse, it does. I now get Geico emails with other people's personal information (policy numbers, phone numbers, car information...). I always reply back to Geico agent letting them know they have sent it to me in error and not the intended recipient. Doesn't seem to matter. I keep getting the emails. This company has extremely bad business practices and doesn't seem to care about protecting their clients. read more

I have switched over from AAA to Geico because AAA was getting expensive for me and Geico has a better quote so I called and talk to somebody well two or three people and they were nice and friendly but they have a hard time replying back to you especially through email. I don't know if it's super busy over there but no response back until about a week or two weeks later for example I just sent an email last week and I still haven't gotten a response and it's just a fairly simple question. On April 3rd, 2017, around 2.30 pm we parked our car (Porsche Cayenne) at the parking lot (facing north) in Zabriskie Point, Furnace Creek, CA. We got out of the car for sightseeing, I get down from the front passenger side and close the door. When I stand next to the car waiting for my kids, I saw a Toyota Corolla parked next to us in the opposite direction (facing south). The back door of the car opened suddenly with the full force and hit our car front passenger side. I immediately went to check out and saw a boy still sitting inside pushing the door with his leg. I told them the car had slammed into our door, obviously, the kid doesn't seem to care until an adult (Father of the kid) came. I immediately took pictures of the dent in our car with their door still touching the dent. The father seems to argue that the dent doesn't happen at that time. So I said let us call the police and file a report. He said it is not necessary and we exchanged our insurance information. Both of our insurance is covered by Geico. After our trip I called Geico insurance to file the claim, the lady on the phone keep telling me that I should and could claim the damages on my own insurance. She said she will file 2 claim number one on our insurance and another on the other insurance. I clearly told her it is not my fault and in no circumstance, I will claim my own insurance. I clearly told her not to create a claim on our insurance and give me that number as it will be extremely confusing to have 2 numbers and I might accidentally use our insurance. I guess that is what Geico wants to happen. A few days later the Adjuster from Arizona called me and said she is representing the other side and not me. She asked me where does the accident happen I told them I don't know the precise location and I said I just know it is somewhere in Death Valley, CA. I also told them the weather condition was windy and sunny. A couple of days later the Adjuster (Lea Saumat, 520-258 0869) called me and said because of that day is windy so the accident is the cause of nature and declined my claim. I asked her what is the precise location of parking, wind speed, and direction - she doesn't have any information on the details. I told her I am not accepting the decline as I saw them push the door into our car and made the dent, also agreed to swap the insurance information. I demanded a report regarding the wind. Next day a Supervisor (Jeffrey Smith, 520-546-2505) called me with the same result without knowing or giving all the crucial information regarding the conclusion. They didn't ask where precisely we parked the car, the direction of the wind or direction of the car etc. Even it was windy on that day, the wind was mild at the parking lot and definitely not strong enough or on the right direction to slam the door. I complained that they don't have enough information to make that decision. Death valley is 5219 Sq. Miles and they didn't even bother to figure out the exact location and conclude with minimum or no research. The Supervisor told me his manager Mr. Nathan Cass will call me. But I didn't receive any call except the letter from Lea Saumat indicating that they refuse our claim. read more

Dan is extremely personable and helpful. He realizes that for many people, auto insurance is viewed as a "necessary evil" or as a commodity. With that in mind, he strives to differentiate himself as someone who is involved in the local community and someone who understands the needs of his customers. I had friends who recently immigrated from Russia, spoke little English, and had no driving record. All the quotes they received were extremely expensive due to lack of verifiable driving experience. Only Dan's people offered to see if my friends qualified for a foreign driver discount. It turns out they did and wound up saving thousands of dollars through Geico. Many agents would have turned down this business because it required a little extra time on their parts. However, Dan's agency chose to help out these new immigrants and make their lives easier. Terrible experience with Geico auto insurance "Glass" department after my Honda Fit got broken into. Two windows smashed, glass everywhere, stuck alone in a parking lot. Called Geico, got an extremely unhelpful woman who offered no information about how to follow through. Gave me the name of a glass place that couldn't help me for a week. So I'm supposed to have my car sitting with windows broken out for a week? I called back a couple of times until I got someone who was supposed to be "more helpful." Wasn't. After about an hour on and off hold, and talking with four different people, I got a nice supervisor who sweet talked me but had no answers, information, or ability to help me in any way. Finally I got cut off. Geico's clunky computer systems, lack of training, and incompetence in the glass department produced the worst insurance experience I've ever had!!! So, Geico may get a much bigger claim when my Honda gets stripped of its catalytic converter or anything else thieves have a chance to grab while my car sits vulnerable, waiting for me to figure this out, since I'm on my own. No help from disfunctional Geico Glass. Gonna shop for better insurance. Cheap insurance isn't worth it if it doesn't work. read more

I've been a customer for 5+ years and had no issues and was happy with their rates (I guess you could safe). That all ended when I had to file a couple of minor claims. My side window was smashed in Oakland. They do not cover original BMW services and are capped at $40/hour in labor. That leaves you with small shoos around the area and questionable quality of services. I also changed my deductible 3 weeks before the incident and they requested a bunch of items including my phone records. I didn't feel comfortable providing those. As a result, they denied my claim. The next month I had to replace my windshield. Once again, they only covered approximately 60% of the cost (my deductible was $100). They said they don't cover original parts which was never in the policy. If you would like to save on your premium go ahead with geico but they will get that money back by not providing full coverage. It ends up costing you more in my opinion. read more

My teenager recently got his CDL. When he broke out with the news I was happy, excited and nervous all at the same time. Anyhow I called our auto insurance company to find out how much it would cost to add him as an additional driver. We have a good clean driving record and several other discounts in place. But when I got the total quote for the new policy I almost fainted! Of course I expected it to be a higher premium but not to the extent of Mt. Everest!
