Summary: -The dental assistant restrained our child as a first resort and without consent. -They never checked for numbness before drilling and refused to stop when she screamed that it hurt. -The treatment plan we created with Dr. Phillips was contradicted at the actual procedure. -Because of our experience, we worry that many children are told they don't need a numbing shot, and then this dentistry holds them down and ignores their screams of pain -They did not communicate what was going to happen or ask permission Dr. Phillips was nice and patient. She explained two options, reassured us we could change our mind, and told us our daughter would not need to be numbed. When we returned, Dr. Phillips was on maternity leave. The assistant, Angela, was upset by our choice of a filling. She insisted the filling would likely become infected and cause sepsis. She repeatedly stated that she had never seen a cavity that big treated with just a filling. She gave so much medical advice that we thought she was a dentist. We said we still wanted the filling. She then said our daughter would need numbing, contradicting Dr. Phillips. While upsetting, in hindsight we are glad they numbed her, because they would not have stopped to see if she was in pain. From there, the assistant was unnecessarily controlling. She forced our daughter to wear sunglasses for 20 minutes before the procedure, refused to let her hold a toy, denied adjusting headphones that hurt, and snapped at her when she whimpered after seeing the vaculux. When the dentist arrived, he did not introduce himself to our daughter or prepare us. The assistant forced the vaculux into our daughter's throat, choking her. The dentist noticed it was too large and asked for a smaller one, but the assistant said they don't have a smaller size. The assistant grabbed our daughter's hands and arms and physically restrained her before any instruments were being used that our daughter could interfere with. This made her panic so she started screaming through the vaculux. Despite this, the dentist began drilling. We begged them to stop. The dentist asked for a bite-block instead, but the assistant said they didn't have any. She huffed and acted annoyed, but returned with a "mouth-gag". After forcing it into her mouth, the dentist started drilling again and the assistant held her down again. We tried to comfort her, but the assistant constantly spoke over us. Between screams our daughter kept trying to yell, "It hurts!" through the mouth-gag. We demanded that they stop so we could see what was hurting her. We were scared that her tooth wasn't numb since they had never checked. After she stopped sobbing she told us that the mouth gag was cutting into the roof of her mouth. For the remainder of the procedure, the Dentist asked the assitant to let our daughter open her mouth herself. When finally given the chance, our daughter immediately complied and stayed calm. Afterward, the assistant excused her harshness by saying she was scared the procedure wouldn't be finished. They treat children less-than human. We cannot imagine a dentist for adults ignoring screams of pain and/or restraining a patient because they are scared of choking. Yet, it was completely normal here to treat the most vulnerable people this way. Now, our little four year old is terrified of dentists. She draws pictures of children screaming at the dentist and playing games where children are tortured by them. She asks nightly why we didn't rescue her from them. We can't say if this would have been different with Dr. Phillips there, but the culture of this office where assistants restrain children, dentists drill through screams, and parents are silenced, makes us think it was not an isolated incident.

He could clearly see a tongue tie but started off the evaluation saying he was more conservative on the subject and a lot of it is "placebo effect". Since my LO had good suction he recommended against it but said he would do it if I wanted. All of my babies issues were apparently from "something else". Needless to say, a chiropractor saw the tie and said it was the biggest he'd seen in awhile and after a second opinion from someone who is more knowledgeable, the procedure was done. My babies tie was 4mm from the tip of his tongue, and the average tie is 16mm. So yeah... pretty severe. As for toddlers, the staff is amazing and the doctor is great with making them comfortable and the process fun.

They only saw one kid and refused to see the rest. They finished the first kid VERY early and could've seen the rest but instead cancelled and now will not see our son with a cracked tooth until we pay $75 PER kid. No grace at all. Very disappointing. We are now looking elsewhere and will not be back.

Dr. Cheryl and the dental assistants/technicians are absolutely fabulous! My Pediatrician…read morerecommended her. We've only had two appointments and both have been a breeze. I know, how many problems can an under 2 year old have? If you're Indigo, not a lot but it's still important to get check ups. They have a standard kids waiting room full of toys and games, a fish tank which is relaxing, and little toy and book stations in the actual examination area. The dental assistant was very sweet she didn't want to make Indigo upset twice, so just let Dr. Cheryl do her examination. After that was done, with no drama, Indigo picked out a toy and away we went for a post appointment treat. They really strive to make the appointment as stress free as possible for the kids, this is fantastic, and prevents/minimizes fear of all things dental appointment related. I appreciate the fast front desk check in and check out, and their text message reminders. Indigo gives this place 40 stars for friendly people and toys!

As a single mom living paycheck to paycheck, it is very important to me that financial information is communicated clearly. My daughter had dental work done in April, and I paid over $1,000 at the time of service. During the appointment, Dr. Olson explained that my daughter had developed additional cavities, so more work was done than originally planned, and I would be billed for the remaining balance. That balance ended up being around $900. I did not receive a bill in the mail or electronically--only a phone call from Kaitlynn at the end of August. I asked if I could set up a payment plan, and Kaitlynn agreed to $100 per month and told me I would receive a text when a payment was due. A full month went by, and I never received a text or a bill in the mail. If I had been told that I needed to call every month to make a payment, I would have done so, but that was never communicated to me. In October, I received a text stating that my account was overdue, followed by a phone call from Kaitlynn. At that time, I was told I needed to pay the full balance by the end of the year and that no payment reminders would be sent--I would need to call every month myself. I immediately made a payment covering the missed month as well as the current month. Being given incorrect information would upset anyone, especially when trying to budget and manage finances. I tried to give Kaitlynn the opportunity to show some understanding or compassion, but instead I was met with attitude during that conversation and every interaction afterward. On one occasion, she hung up on me because I did not respond quickly enough when she returned from hold. When I called back, the office did not answer, and she went straight to lunch shortly after. I have spoken with other staff members at Sawtooth Dentistry, and none of them were rude or unprofessional like Kaitlynn, who stated she is the office manager. They did receive their money, but I will not be treated this way again.

They were very thorough but also fast and soooo friendly. The waiting room had a fun kids area to make them comfortable and at ease before they got started. The hygienist explained everything very well so that my 5 year old wasn't nervous anymore. They were so sweet and patient with our 3 year old as well, and it can be hard to get a thorough cleaning on him because he bites a lot but we appreciated the time and effort the dentist took to really clean his teeth good and get a good look at everything. 100% recommend.
