This company gets extremely crooked when you voice any kind of complaint against them. Thier lead HVAC tech John for example caused our utility room to flood. He came over to look at a very slow leak we had with a tankless water heater we had them install. He stated he took a few of the valves apart to check a few things. He did state it had a little faster of a drip. However he didn't state that it was leaking so much more worse than what it was before that it would flood the utility room. Which it did. All he had to say was its leaking way worse now and needs to be fixed ASAP. Or he could have stated you need to have both valves shut off to stop the leak. So he left knowing how bad it was leaking without giving any suggestion. Two days later the water was all the way up to the carpet line. I did have a small bucket in place for the previous slow small drip which I dumped out like once a week if that. The leak is so bad with whatever he did that it filled a 30 gallon storage container in less than a 12 hour window. I mentioned this over the phone to one of the line managers. He said he would discuss it with John. Never got a call back. However and several more problems later we do get a call back from John himself. No apology. Just him stating that after apparent issues with my wife and how she spoke they are cutting ties with us. My wife asked is this John who flooded my utility room? He said yep, that's me in a humerous manner. So it seems as if this company is completely okay with a lead tech causing a small leak to turn into a much larger leak without telling the customer and telling the customer that turning off the hot water valve may be a good issue. Then I was also lied to by John stating to me that the two techs that came out to service our AC that my wife was rude to them. I was here when they were here. She absolutely wasn't. We both were very friendly to them both. Not to mention one tech even made a comment about being here years back and installing our water heater. I told him I knew he looked familiar. Both techs were extremely professional and kind. There wasn't a single issue with either of them. Yet John claims the techs came to him and said we were rude to them. So either John is completely making all of that up or for some reason one of the techs made that false claim. Then the other problem was with Victoria. She rudely called my wife and accused my wife of never paying for AC service fee. When we had proof that we did pay. Well a different lady called back a few hours later who did confirm we paid. This lady said she would speak with Victoria and have Victoria call my wife back and apologize for the misunderstanding/mistake of claiming we didn't pay. She never called of course. The lady that called my wife however was very professional and very apologetic. When we had a new toilet seal done last year as well as a new faucet put in the tech had some issues with the same lady, Victoria over the phone when speaking to her in front of us. After he hung up he even told us how many problems customers and even many of the service techs have with Victoria. Yet for some reason she still works there. So when there are techs that openly admit there are problems with Victoria that obviously tells me it's definitely not just my wife and I that see a problem with her. When John came here to "diagnose" our AC and tankless water heater there was a disagreement and elevated tone of voice both with John and my wife. My wife and I both had been told by the dispatcher, when this appointment was scheduled that the tech would diagnose and determine at least what is the problem with both the AC and the water heater. I gave John a very descriptive detail on what our AC was doing. He acted kinda dumbfounded like he didn't have a clue what could be wrong. Well when he didn't really do anything at all with the AC. When my wife asked him about the AC he said well I will have to come back out and you'll have to pay for a separate service charge fee to have the AC looked at and serviced. That was confusing to us both given the fact that it was explained to us on the phone that the tech would at least be able to more than likely determine what was wrong with it. When my wife expressed frustration that he didn't have a single idea what was wrong with the AC nor did he remove any panels on the furnace to check the coil or anything at all is when then he started to have an attitude about her questioning him about it all. Given we both were told he should be able to tell us at least what is wrong with it when he didn't nor did he really check any of it out. He went on to say well if dispatch told you that we would figure out what the problem is on a service call then they told you wrong. So yeah my wife was pretty upset that she was told one thing on the phone when the exact opposite was done and told to us by John. Removed a toilet. That's it. Charged $370. Wasn't an emergency call. Wasn't an after hours call. They came out to see about a leaky toilet at my elderly mother's house. She called me to come because Dan Wood had called in a "moisture remediation" company. The subfloor was soft and will need to be replaced. It's a common issue. But they tried to charge $1800 to disinfect the wood under the toilet, and dry it with a fan. Outrageous! It was on the plumbing company that my mom had to come out because Justin didn't show up because Dan would've seen him around haven't heard bad things. Y'all have a bad like a 2.0 rating so I've been telling her soft is bad. it's soft. You can tell I would only my mom think subfloor is gotta rebuild the house. I didn't know that she didn't know that so it's not that big of a deal it would be for us. We got a tear on our wood, but yeah, so my mom Deck goes on a roof not Support anyway I'm so my mom cause his plumbing company cause before when it was leaking they just went down there and shorted up. They scabbed into a 2 x 4 and was able to push the floor up. Hold it up hold up the pipe and it work for years well it's given out because it's just too wet right so this damn wood companies out there he moves the toilet and my mom told me all this. She sucks as why she called you. I need Kim here get her out here obvious attempt at taking advantage of an elderly woman. I called a contractor to come in and replace the subfloor. Dan Wood Co. had the audacity to charge my 91 year old mother $370 just to remove the toilet and set it aside,. No other work was done. For those of you unfamiliar with boilers, in many they are much more complicated to install hot air furnaces. Many lack the knowledge to properly set up a boiler system and make it run correctly. At this point, if I could provide lower than 1 star I would. This has been one of the worst experiences with a company that I have ever had. All I needed was the p-trap under my sink replaced. That happened and then magically my sink didn't drain anywhere near like it used to prior to the "help" this company provided. Contacted company to advise that this was not an issue prior to have the pipes replaced and it drained fine. Company advised they would send someone out to look into this. They sent technician Tyler who initially was energetic and wanted to assist. After an incredibly quick review, he advised that I would need to pay an additional $600+ to "fix" this issue. When I asked how it would be an additional $600+ when it wasn't an issue prior to the work their company did he became increasingly patronizing and suggested that they can't help the work other people do prior to them and this should have been done better prior. When I objected to that premise, he raised his voice to not allow me to keep talking. I asked him to please allow me to finish what I was saying and he abruptly said they were done here and they would be leaving. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I have contacted the company twice as advised by the technicians to discuss the issue with their master plumber who makes all the decisions (according to the technicians) to be advised that he would be contacting me back. Still hasn't happened. Do yourself a favor and choose a different company to assist you with any of the needs that this company says they can help with and it will save you a ton of money and hassle. In short, company will not stand behind their work, RUDE technicians, office staff doesn't follow through, and I'm still not convinced the prior technician didn't make an error which caused the drain to not operate (which they didn't even take a look at). read more

I was quoted $600 plus for a clogged kitchen drain. That seemed very high, so I said I could not use them, and they couldn't tell me why that was high. They insisted I pay the diagnostic fee of $100+. Wife had to pay. Then, a local company did it for $175, which took 15 minutes. This company is overpriced, and I would not recommend it. I called for plumbing repair on Wednesday of last week. I was required to provide a CC for a $89.00 charge to "secure an appointment" for an estimate. Due to an "emergency" supposedly with another customer, I received three different appointments, each later than the initial appointment, which was, finally, 5 days later and at Dan Wood's benefit. When the plumber appeared on Monday a.m., all told, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to provide an estimate and to complete to job. Imagine.. The entire repair, including the $89.00 security deposit required to secure an appointment convenient to Dan Wood; (NOTE: The $89.00 did not count for anything beyond showing up and an estimate), was $547.00. A breakdown, oh wait, there is no breakdown of costs on the invoice. It is called Flat Rate Plumbing. Performed by a plumbing TECH not a licensed or master plumber. So accordingly, I paid $547.00 for a tech's time. Which according to Angie's List and Home Advisor, is over twice the average cost in my area, for this specific issue. Needing to have this resolved was critical and I felt I had little choice. Afterward, I inspected the repair and noticed that the interior shut-off valve for the exterior spigot had been removed without notification. The response to my inquire about the missing shut-off valve? I guess it will require I wait for Dan Wood to call and schedule another "secured appointment" at their convenience, of course, for a mere $89.00. I will not use nor recommend a company such as Dan Wood, that charges, consistently, double the local average costs, absent consideration of our current environment. Price gouging, at any time, let alone now, when there is a national crisis negatively impacting our economy, is beyond the pale. Well, except for "the need for greed." UPDATE: Dan Wood "claimed" Tech Mike Fritz stated an interior shut-off valve was no longer required, but lacked the knowledge to explain why the Tech made the decision without informing us in any way before or after the work was done. Had trouble with my Hague Water Softener. Chris and Mike came out and fixed the controller and cleaned hard pack in the brine tank. Aslo cleaned sump pump and pit and drained water heater and replaced the pressure relief valve on the water heater and a valve on the gas line that was leaking. Answered all of my questions and even responded to emails with follow up questions. Very satisfied with their work. read more

STILL WAITING . . . I called Dan Wood Company on June 15th 2021 because the control panel on my Hague water softener was malfunctioning. The main telephone number on their web page was disconnected. I found another number on the contact us page of their website. They sent out the sales rep (not the technician) to tell me "Yep, It's broken."  Then it took two more days (June 17th) of phone tag to get their dispatcher to schedule a technician for July 2nd. . . On the afternoon of July 2nd they called to say they couldn't get to it until July 14th. Apparently they only have one technician who works on water softeners and if he doesn't get to you on your appointment day, you get put at the back of the line :-( read more

Terrible customer service. I thought it was odd that they required a credit card number just to make an appointment. I had a timeline for the selling of my house; Dan wood company didn't have an electrician available for a little more than a week but I was running out of options- so I proceeded. I called the day before my "appointment" to verify a few things, not once did they say there would be an issue getting to my home. They call at almost 1pm DAY OF my appointment to tell me that they need to push me out "a week or more." And that was past my closing date so I cancelled all together. Ridiculously expensive. First, they require credit card information then call you back to schedule the actual appointment which felt so uncomfortable. We were charged $109 trip fee. This is what they charge to have someone take a look around and assess. I told the customer service we had several questions including toilet replacement AND washer/dryer hook up- she said no problem, you can ask the plumber anything. He comes, and proclaims he ONLY knows about drains. Ok, whatever. We are only getting help with the toilet questions then. The quote to have us switch out a round toilet for elongated was $942!! (Plus the trip charge) . Save yourself $100- it costs $535 for them to install a toilet if you don't go with theirs from Fergusons. $847 for a round toilet. read more

Our family used to use Dan Wood company exclusively, they were always great. A touch higher pricing, but it was worth it. We now have used Dan Wood plumbing twice in the last 7 months. Pricing is WAY OUT OF LINE! OUTRAGEOUS! Flat rate prices, they say. Yeah because it only takes 5-15 minutes to fix the problem, yet they charge you $180-300+ dollars, or more! Crazy, they have either become money hungry, or their overhead is out of control and the consumer is going to pay for it!!! Stay away, call Zimmerman! They are much more reasonable. Super expensive called them once had leaking and need some repairs to furnace and tune up not that there is much to tune up anymore just another way to get your money, guy came out looked at furnace said you have a leak I said yes that's why I called you, he could not do it never changed filter did anything else and wanted me to pay $120.00 I said you didn't do anything! Call your boss the owner said I still had to pay a service call and lowered it to $60.00 which I shouldn't of paid, but did and said when you do good work everyone knows when you do bad work ( or literally no work) everybody will know. This is not a good business. I called them in desperation one night when a sewer line cracked in my home. They did come right out. They said they could not fix it that night (correct) but could give me an estimate and make it so that I could use the bathroom until the repair was made. They said that there was a clog in the line. They did call someone who cleaned out the lines. There was nothing in the lines. It was a wrong call. Despite this I was charged $500 for this useless procedure which changed nothing. I was given an estimate on repair at $2872. I got another estimate. Cost of the repair from Roto Rooter was $1090. nearly a third of the price. And the repair was excellent. The repairmen informed me that the lines were never clogged, the problem was structural. This is the second bad interaction I have had with this company. Previously I had asked them for an estimate on some wiring work. The technician told me that they charges $100? or so per hour for labor. When I got the estimate which broke out the labor from parts, the labor costs appeared to be more like $1000 per hour. I am done with this company. read more

I had a sump pump issue on a Sunday and couldn't get anyone here until Wednesday morning. They insist on a credit card number and said an 8 am to 8:30 appt. Never showed up until 9:55. asks a few questions that take about 5 minutes and then goes back to truck to bring in a blank charge sheet for me to sign for services rendered. I refused until the work was done. Goes back outside because he says he has to wait for parts. At 11:45 comes back in with tools to do repair. Take about a half hour (12:15) then goes back outside to wait in truck. Comes Back in at 12:28 to close sump pump up. charges me for 2 hrs and 15 minutes. Leaves at 12:43. $559.00 is the cost. I couldn't believe my ears. I will never use Dan Wood again. Actually worked at the job for less than an hour. read more

Typical contractors that will take advantage of you. Be sure to call around and get prices from everyone. I was unfortunately not home while my home had a backed up kitchen line. The upstairs sink was draining into the bottom sink and it was disgusting. Someone came to look at it and they fixed the problem but charged a very dishonest amount of $450. The job took less than an hour and only involved running a mechanical snake through the line. You can rent those for much cheaper and do it yourself. My job is within this line of work and this is completely outrageous. I would recommend finding someone else that will assess the problem honestly and charge you appropriately. read more

Awesome gentleman named Allen came and fixed our seemingly unfixable furnace humidifer problem that our previous HVAC company threw up their hands about and quit on us. Found the kink in the line and had it up and running in less than an hour. He then cleaned the furnace better than it has ever been serviced and promised to be back in the spring to do the a/c. Dan Wood Company installed my new furnace. Wayne and Chris were my installers and they did a phenomenal job not only installing it in one day leaving my furnace room looking nicer than before the instal, but also explaining to me everything I needed to know about my system. I live in an Allen Edwin Home and this is the first furnace I bought for a home. I've heard about the Dan Wood team's exceptional service, but the reputation of them being more expensive scared me a little. After getting a couple prices, they were right in line and even did a better job of explaining why certain prices vary. Dan S. was great and worked with Hague's technical team to find the best solution and was kind enough to reimburse my wife and I for the unit while installing a better fit for a very fair price. Amanda was great communicating when the part had come in and when Dan was available to install it. Dan answered all my questions (I had many) and couldn't have been more professional. Tried to Contact the day after Christmas 2016 because supposedly they offer 24/7 emergency service. My wife and I tried repeatedly to contact them for service and never got any response. Just kept getting automated phone service that led nowhere. The real bad part is we were sold they're Furnace/AC plan so we were supposed to be regular return customers. Spent almost the entire next day trying to get them to service our Furnace even after we told them it went out 4 days ago they didn't seem to care. Looking for a new Furnace/AC service. I needed my basement drain cleared. I've had it done in the past, and it ranged in price from $95-$175. Dan Wood chargers you $69 to come out, and diagnose. When I asked the person on the phone how much this would cost, she said the techs would tell me on site. That seems to have been a lie, because the tech told me it was a $288 flat fee for a drain cleaning, regardless of how long it took. So, $288 + 69 = $357. What a rip-off! I recently purchased a home that needed considerable upgrading including furnace, air conditioner, water heater, and electrical and plumbing work. The person who came to my home gave VERY minimum general figures with nothing specific, claiming they would have to have each department come to review the home and that would "cost them money to pay an employee" to do that. Brad J and Adam T took the time to go over what needed to be done today and also at our request provide and estimate of work we plan to do in the future. Once they started replaceing outlets they hit some challenges (as is to be expected in a 50 years old house with that has it's fair share of DIY fixes and bandaids projects.) and worked through each one until it was properly fixed and working. And this extra work added not one penny to our bill! Once they left you would have never guessed we had repairs done. My husband called the Dan Wood Company last week to come out and give us a quote on our bathtub. We have had the issue before, and my husband told the plumber that the last time we had this issue it was a quick fix and cost less than $100. The plumber quoted my husband $500 and charged $70 just to come out to provide an estimate. My husband turned down the quote and called another company. The other company came out, fixed the issue in 10 minutes and it cost less than $70. My husband called the Dan Wood Company back to explain the situation and ask if there's any way to get the $70 back and they declined it. Less than impressed with this company.
