Our experience with the people sent out from Dana Bartone was beyond awful. We just had our second daughter's wedding in December and had a fabulous experience with experienced and professional hair and makeup women. The difference from the Dana Bartone experience was so great. And to make matter's worse, I've not received a reply from the salon. I've only requested a refund on part of my payment and was not even given the courtesy of a yes or no. To be really clear, this company ruined the morning of my youngest daughter's wedding. Leanne at front desk is organized, pleasant and professional and keeps things running smoothly. Great selection of hair products, candles and they also do makeup. Danielle my stylist is one of the best colorists around - can't say enough great things about her, she has been doing my hair 20 years, and my brother, mom and husband. She is equally sweet as she is talented. And Tania is super talented as well with lovely demeanor. Finally, If you have a chance, be sure to book a facial with Wandalyn, you won't regret it, so relaxing and your skin glows when she is done. I highly recommend this gem of a salon. read more

I can't comment on the quality of the services that this place provides, however, I can comment on their customer service. I have my upcoming engagement party in NJ that I need hair/makeup services for. I understand that while this company is located in CT,I was desperate considering how soon the engagement party is, so I emailed them. I understand already being booked that day, or the distance being too far, but replying back to my email inquiry with just two words: "no dice." is just plain rude. I've been in the customer service industry thanks to many of my friends and family members for over 20 years, so I'm well-versed in good customer service. A proper response would've been something along the lines of "thanks for your email! Unfortunately we won't be able to provide you with these services for such-and-such reason" rather than a rude and inconsiderate "no dice." read more

I just had my hair and make-up done by Dana for my wedding, and I could not be happier with the whole experience of working with her. She understood exactly what I wanted for my wedding day look (I think she understood better than I did!) and worked fast but was very thorough. My make-up and hair both lasted all night. The false eyelashes didn't come off until I removed them. The salon is a wonderful atmosphere with coffee, candy, comfy chairs, and magazines. Even when there aren't many customers there, it still feels like a bustling, energetic place, which I love. It has a very high-end feel to it, which normally turns me off because I don't take my hair that seriously, but they are so far from snobby that I don't know what I was ever worried about. Every single person who works there is warm, welcoming, and friendly. I would go back there for an event that I needed hair or make-up done for. I might also go back someday for a regular haircut. I used the services of Dana Bartone and co for my wedding this past summer in Connecticut. Two women came to my house to provide hair/makeup for my bridal party. They were great. Easy to work with, did beautiful work and were very reliable. I highly recommend them for any hair/makeup needs - especially for weddings. They go to your house which is super convenient. I like this salon, but they are a bit pricey and not all the stylists have the same level of professionalism (in such a small salon, I'd advise not talking so loudly when you are having a negative conversation. I get it, the hair dryers are loud, but maybe plan on meeting your client elsewhere to have your lengthy conversation.) But, they do a good job with their haircuts, etc. They also seem to have a lot of other services available, so that does make them a multi-faceted location. Wish they offered SOME discount for students, though. (Yes, I understand that their hair is the same as adult hair, but help parents out a little....kids are expensive enough as it is!) read more

Dana was amazing to work with, from my initial consultation to making me look exactly as I envisioned on my wedding day. She was so accommodating and easy to work with, showing up bright and early and working with me to tweak my look as we went along. They specialize in wedding day hair and makeup, but i went in for a color and the homey atmosphere was what made me want to come back. I scheduled hair and makeup for my son's wedding on May 20th last minute at Dana Bartone. I actually chose them because I loved their website. I was a little nervous that day because I wasn't going to get an opportunity to "fix" myself if I didn't like how my hair and makeup came out. Well - Anne Vay did my makeup and Marisa Pisani did my hair. I can honestly say that I have never felt more beautiful than I did that day. My pictures came out amazing and people were actually telling me that I was stunning! I was so comfortable in my updo that I didn't even feel a bobby pin. I slept with my hair still up after the wedding and everyone told me the next day that I looked like I hadn't even slept on it. I didn't take it down until late Saturday night, more than 24 hours after I had it done. I very highly recommend them both if you have an important event coming up in your life.
