My husband got me a gift card for a spa day at Parisian for Mother's Day but unfortunately I had an unexpected surgery and had to delay using it until this summer. I went yesterday for a 60 min massage and a pedicure and could not have been happier with my experience. Both services were perfection. I actually hesitated to try a pedicure because I have gone to my normal nail place religiously for years and have been happy but Ratha blew my nail salon out of the water. The attention to detail, the care and consideration of my comfort, and the absolute gorgeous job she did was more than I could have ever hoped. Not to mention, this is the softest my feet have ever felt in years. Like butter! She was also lovely to work with. My massage with Courtney was also incredible. Again, massages are nothing new to me, so I sort of go into each massage knowing what to expect but Courtney melted me. I never fall asleep during a massage (maybe once in my entire life) and I was out like a light at some point. She was so careful of the space on my shoulder I told her about the recent surgery on, but didn't ignore it and deprive me of any of the shoulder massage piece. She accommodated my still-drying toe nails from pedicure prior (I didn't have any choice about timing; I added the pedicure on at the last minute and they were happy to work around my request). All in all, I was happy with scheduling, the services, and felt that pricing was more than fair for the quality of the services received. I went in for a root touch up. I had a new stylist. Her name was Alyssa. She did a great job w the color and she blew dry my curls perfectly. Most importantly, her personality was just incredible. She is warm. She is engaging. She is down to earth. She is calm. She is strong, sweet, and empathetic. It's no wonder she owns horses and they love her. She's the type of person where if you're having a tough day and then you see her you'll leave feeling a sense of calm. I really like the salon as a whole - the people are nice and it's pretty inside, and they always do a great job with all of their services. It's always top notch in just about everything. My regular stylist, Robert, retired. I went to someone else who was decent, so I booked a second appointment with him. They ask for a 24 hour cancellation notice - but called me 3 hours before my appointment to cancel (the stylist's other appointments cancelled and the receptionist didn't want the stylist to drive in just for one appointment)!!! I had last gone to Parisian about a decade ago but had grown dissatisfied with the haircuts I was getting and moved on to another salon here in Cromwell. My mother went and had a good haircut so I decided to give them another chance and had a good experience in April and returned 7 weeks later as recommended. The second haircut was rushed and horrendous. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. If you take out the washing of my hair he must have taken about 10-15 minutes working on the cut itself. I feel like I need to take clippers to my head and buzz it off to go outside without a baseball hat. I was here once a long time ago for a seaweed body wrap. It was my first ever spa experience. My friend and I had a great time and my skin felt amazing. The woman who did the wrap was fantastic and kind. Being nervous and not knowing what to expect (or what to do for that matter), I really appreciated her patience and her willingness to answer questions. It really made the experience. Unfortunately, I no longer see these on their services list, but they still have some other great services. The service I took advantage of this past weekend was the massage. I called that morning and got an appointment for the massage that afternoon. I was surprised, but so happy! After I walked in for my appointment, I then also felt lucky because it was so busy! So many people. It was loud and bustling, but when they took me back for the massage it all stayed behind. My masseuse was Courtney. She put me at ease and the massage was so amazing. I have had massages before that left me feeling incomplete. I tend to be really tense and have lots of knots, so gentle and soothing does not always result in satisfied and relaxed for me. Courtney was firm, but never did she make me feel uncomfortable or pained. I know that everyone is different, but it was perfect me. Anyway, overall a great experience and I cannot wait for my next massage. read more

I enjoy massages 2 to 3 times per year so I feel like I have a decent set og past experiences to compare. This time at the spa I got a 60 minute massage with Barbara. This was the best massage I've had in a couple years. (To give a reference point the last really good one I had was with physical therapist named Heather Garnaca in Litchfield CT.) Barbara was knowledgeable about the muscle groups and informed me on what and why she was doing when I asked about it. She also did not talk more than was necessary which is great since I usually like to relax off into a light doze if possible. She had me stretch sore pec and rib relaxed muscles by pressing and coordinating deep breathes from me. She worked with the fact that I was sore from a strenous work-out from a day ago and let me know that to get the best results I should schedule massages a few days past being this sore. She also advised me to ice tomorrow. I felt like she adapted to what I brought in and I left feeling better and relaxed. read more

After they butchered my hair in 2000 and cut it WAY shorter than I asked with only months to go before my wedding, against my better judgement I brought my teen son there to have his undercut refreshed in the summer of 2020. I thought to myself, "Self? That was 20 years ago. Plus he has an existing undercut and all the stylist has to do is follow the line and buzz the part below it. It would be hard to mess that up." Guess what? They messed it up. I'm not sure how, but they did. He has very long hair on the top and the stylist managed to cut many random pieces of his much longer hair. It was very noticeable. She literally just had to anchor all the long hair on top of his head and buzz the undercut following the existing line of demarcation and then trim the ends. She obviously did sloppy work and nicked several pieces of his very long hair with the clippers. This salon uses fresh graduates from beauty school or technical high school (see comment about my haircut in 2000) and while I am all for learning salons that help new graduates learn their craft, in my experience these newbies are left on their own to just figure it out--and mess up your hair in the process. I was so mad. My son had several very noticably shorter pieces in his ALL ONE LENGTH longer hair over his undercut. Like, I could have refreshed his undercut myself with ZERO training and done a better job, but he's a teen and he wouldn't let me. This was also early days in the pandemic so I couldn't go in with my son and he said that every chair had someone in it and he was uncomfortable with the amount of people in there so there's that too. This was seriously the simplest of jobs and they messed it up, so I have zero faith in this salon's ability to do more complicated hair jobs. I tried to give them another chance! I went in to clean up my current hairstyle, which is short with extreme angles. I've had this hair cut messed up by so many people, but Kerry had incredible attention to detail and took the time to go over a few times to make sure all the angles were perfect. I paid $50 for the haircut, but I honestly think that's a fair price. Any respectable salon in Fairfield county charges the same or more, so this is what I've always paid. Kerry also discussed my hair color and hair products with me, and was not pushy about any other services they provide or product I can buy there, whereas most other salons try to strongarm you into leaving with at least 1 new product. read more

I have only been here once, for a pregnancy massage, and had a great experience. I was a little surprised at first b/c the waiting area is right in the middle of the salon and was quite noisy, but the massage room itself was quiet and serene. I could hear some outside noise during my massage, which was a little distracting but not terribly so. My masseuse, Cindy, was wonderful. She took the time to explain to me exactly what would happen during the massage (i.e. how my belly would be supported with pillows, etc) and to see if I had any questions or specific issues to address. She checked in throughout the massage to make sure I was comfortable. The receptionists were not the friendliest but they weren't rude, either, just a bit short. I was offered a drink while I was waiting (and I was not kept waiting long) but I declined. They were very friendly over the phone the two times I called. I will be going back for another massage for a few weeks, unfortunately not with Cindy since she only works Saturdays, but I am hoping my experience will be just as pleasant. read more

Friendly service. Hair service is top notch. Nail service is hit or miss. My cuticles seem to get over looked half the time though I'm clear upon booking if I have dip, gel or basic polish. I used to love coming here, always seemed to run on time for appointments. The waiting area is packed and loud, but that was okay. Then it seemed the appointments were double or triple booked and I would wait sometimes over 30 minutes from the scheduled appointment time and my stylist was coloring multiple people at once. This would make her rush, and frustrated her as well. Please go back to how it was- relaxing, friendly, and personalized. Went in on a wednesday night without an appointment about 7:30, called ahead to see if they could fit me in without an appointment. They were very courteous and welcoming. Once we arrived we were brought into a lovely room with herb scents and soothing lighting. We had Maggie for two eyebrow waxes. She was amazing. I did the R & R package, which included a massage (or facial), mani pedi, and a lunch. My massage was wonderful, super calming and relaxing. But the woman who did my nails made the rest of my experience super uncomfortable and un-enjoyable. The fact that this was the case was 100% my fault, but the reaction from the technician could have been a little better. I had dip powder on my nails from another salon weeks ago, so she had to file them down to get the color off. She seemed very annoyed that she had to do this, and because of that she ended up rushing the rest of my mani/pedi. I was also charged an extra $10 for the amount of time it took for her to do this (I don't know if this is policy, but it frustrated me). She skipped the hand massage and didn't push back my cuticles (at this point I didn't care, I just wanted the experience to end). The pedicure was also quicker than my friends, and they started before we did. I felt rushed and I knew the technician didn't like me because of the extra work that had to be done. My mom and I like to have a 'Mother-Daughter Spa Day' every year, and we have been continually looking for the past several years for someplace fun, not overly expensive and most of all, a place that will listen to our needs. I called a place in Middletown and they did not return my call. I called a place in Farmington and they had no openings until May (I called in December). I called Parisian -- I live 5 minutes away and did not know they were there! Very friendly on the phone and Mom and I were booked for facials and massages. Needless to say it was the best place we have ever been to between Fairfield County, New Haven County and Middlesex County. I had Courtney for my massage; she listened to my needs and not only met them but completely exceeded my expectations. Virginia was my facialist and she was lovely, explained everything she was doing and asked how I was doing. Both women were terrific and what I also like is that both women have been with Parisian for a good amount of time, which shows this is a solid work environment and that both women love to work there. When we were done Mom and I were so relaxed and mellow and felt terrific. No rushing us out the door and the staff was more than courteous. We will definitely be back!! Great job! read more

Maggie is a must-see for eyebrow waxing. She expertly shapes them and could not be a nicer woman who genuinely aims to please - and hits the mark every time. There are other very good technicians here for hair and nails, but Maggie stands out in her field. Some services provided at the salon are competitively priced with similar environment salons. Other services (like an eyebrow wax and express (30-minute) pedicure) are less expensive than similar environment salons. Exceptionally clean and well maintained all over the salon. True that the ladies up front aren't the warm and fuzzy type who "love you up" from the moment you walk in (like in some places where you'd think they couldn't be happier than to see you). But Doreen and Josie are extremely professional, very good at what they do (scheduling appointments for so many technicians is a lot harder than many people realize), and they do warm up over time. read more

The salon has the potential to be good; however, the management is outwardly rude and the salon is significantly overpriced considering the quality of services received, ambiance/upkeep of the salon, and products used. Although the stylist was pretty cool, the business manager attempted to charge me double for services rendered and was unsympathetic and rude to me about the discrepancy. She made it very uncomfortable and embarrassing for me in front of the entire waiting room. Needless to say, I would go out of my way not to deal with the management. I received a full day at this spa as a gift and it was the best day I have had in a long time. It started with a full body treatment, which was very relaxing. Next I was treated to a deep cleansing facial, the products that were used for both treatments left my skin feeling wonderful...I was relaxed and ready for lunch.
