I went here on Saturday 1/13 at 2:30pm for a haircut with Dana. When I walked in all the hairstylist just stared at me like they never saw a hijabi walk in to their salon. No greeting, no welcome. I told them I had an appointment with Dana. They told me to go on the back to get my hair washed. Afterwards i asked who was Dana and once she was done helping her previous client she had me sit. I showed her what haircut I wanted (see attachments - the blonde hair back haircut I wanted) and that I wanted front layers to start from my chin. I made it specific and showed her pictures that I wanted layers on the back also. And she said she would got it and would cut it. But she did not follow the instructions I gave her nor according to the pictures I shown her of the haircut I wanted. She got the length right, and she gave some layers at the front but she didn't give me any layers on the back. By the time she finished blowdrying and cutting my hair, I was their last customer, it was like 3:30pm. Seemed like they were closing. She didn't put any hair products on my hair, nor style it in any way. Just cut and blow dry. She asked once if I want any product, and I said it's fine but after checking my hair, I felt the hair looked dried and I would have liked it if she put some more efforts to it. I have beautiful, long, healthy hair. I wanted a mid length haircut, below my shoulders, with layers at the front and back. She didn't even hold a mirror to show me the back of the hair to show what cut she gave me. The whole time she was cutting my hair, she kept me looking away from the mirror, not facing the mirror. So I couldn't even see what haircut she was giving me. I was happy with the length of the layers on the front, and also I needed to put back my hijab and leave because they were closing, so I didn't get to check carefully if she actually gave me what I asked for. After I came home, I checked my hair again and noticed that there were no layers on the back! Like what the heck!! I was so disappointed! I was so excited to get my haircut with Dana since she is the salon owner and thought she would able to give me a beautiful new haircut but after recalling the whole experience and seeing that she didn't listen to me nor follow my instructions to give me the haircut I wanted, I feel so disheartened and disappointed. I paid her and tipped her even though she put little to no effort in giving me good service and experience. I was going to call back on Sunday but it seems like they are closed on Sunday and Monday also, due to holiday. Did she think it won't matter if she doesn't follow my instructions and doesn't give me the haircut I asked for because I cover up my hair outside?! (Wear hijab) just because I wear hijab and cover my hair, doesn't mean I don't care what kind haircut I get. I am paying for it! It is very important to me that I get the right haircut and the stylist listen to me and follows my instructions, Not do whatever she wishes! If you don't know how to give haircut according to what your customer shows you, at least be upfront and say it from the straight. I previously went here for a haircut with Daven in 2022 and she was much nicer and did a better job at listening to me and cutting my hair. But this time I went with Dana because I thought she would be more experienced and give me exactly what I asked for. I am really disappointed. Definitely won't be going back and don't recommend, especially not Dana! Every time I look at my hair, I feel so upset. I wish I paid with credit card so I could have disputed the charge. Now I have to go somewhere else and pay again to get the haircut I really wanted! read more

Got an appointment pretty quick with Dana the owner, but not on purpose. I was just dying for a haircut and she happened to be available when I called. My mom has gotten one from her and was pretty happy with the results, so I was happy to get her too. She gives a great cut! Looked like the photo I showed her. I just have to mention that she's a bit rough with my head when cutting than I'm used to but otherwise, amazing. I'm happy she gave me a little wave too when she styled my hair. read more

Went in just ad a walk in. They had time. Super sweet and the girls are nice! Greeted with a smile which is great customer service. Nicolette washed and blew out my hair that is down to my butt crack. I have Spanish long wavey/curly hair. She did an amazing job. Can't wait to go back for a cut/conditioner and blow out. Super cute salon. Totally affordable. Excellent work. I have been to Dana, Gab and Devon (spelling?). Each one of them have been great. Gab is the main girl I go to for color (ombre). She is really great and super cute. She does exactly what I ask for and I don't sit in the salon for what feels like all day. I am in and out and have left every time feeling really really happy about my hair. I started going to them a year ago and was in the process of growing my hair out from a terrible short cut and had layers that were all over the place. They have given me trims and been realistic with me about my expectations, allowing the short choppy layers to grow in. My hair a year later is much much longer and the layers have FINALLY gotten to the length where I was able to get them cleaned up recently and I could not be happier with the results. I brought my best friend here recently who has very difficult coarse hair that I have been raving about this place to forever and she was SUPER happy. She has virgin hair and even wants to go back in the spring to get ombre to her hair but only from here, she loved them so much. She has complained forever that no one has been able to blow her hair out nicely or give her the cut she has asked for and now she is so excited to have found Dana's salon. She went to Devon and I was even shocked with how amazing her hair came out. Really it far exceeded my expectations. Affordable, convenient, sweet, super cute French and gold themed salon with really great service. The girls all have beautiful hair and that helps you trust someone a lot more (even though we probably won't all admit that). read more

I am not one to write bad reviews, and this happened a year ago but felt I needed to write this review. When this place opened near me I was excited to get blowouts for a reasonable price. Sadly, my experience was not great. They were attentive when I arrived (I was a walk in) but unfortunately, once they saw my true hair state (super curly) the hair dresser out loud sighed and said "oh you have curly hair". She was upset that she would have to put some work into my hair and not have it dry easily for her. I was so embarrassed and felt horrible for being an inconvenience for her. Unfortunately it was the first and last time I ever went. Blowout Spot just opened up so I am excited to try it out! read more

I've been coming to Dana's since my eighth grade prom (I'm a junior in high school now) and I absolutely love it. The results come out great every time! Went there to get my hair blown out for my sweet 16 and it was great-- I got a ton of compliments. And this Thursday I'm about to get it dyed. The only downside would be that sometimes, depending on who you get, the conversation is a little forced or awkward, or sometimes there is no conversation to begin with. I can say is that I was robbed and taken for a fool!!! Needless to say they lost a great customer! I went there for hair extensions which ended up Being the wrong color and pretty much they were taken out of the package I to my hair and out of the salon for 500.00! No wash no treatment! I went on vacation and ended up loosing both bundles (250.00 Per bundle ) came home with 7 left in my hair.. Gabi the hair stylist argued withe through text, blaming me for ( I ordered darkest brown the next level was black!! So I went with darkest brown and if I was still off would put a color on for u to make it all one! And YOU chose not to so u left like that I insisted on making it one color and u said wait I like it .. So do not blame me that u spent 500 and your color is off .. All u have to do is make a appointment and whatever u don't like can be fixed ) this was her response!! Really!!! Good customer service !! Unwelcoming atmosphere & FAKE. I waited a while to write this review. If you're not already a regular of theirs or a friend they will act like you don't exist. I was really excited to see this cute salon open up down the block from my house because I don't have a lot of options in this neighborhood. They have blowouts advertised so I would of went in every week for one and probably would of gotten more services too if it wasn't for the horrible attitudes. I have long extensions and I completely understand that it takes longer and is more work to do this job so I agreed and paid $50. Second time I went in again for the blowout, of course I waited forever without anyone saying anything to me. They waited until I was washed and sitting in the chair with wet hair to tell me that the price had changed to $75 because of my hair length. I just agreed because I was already sitting down with dripping wet hair. I have never paid that much for a blow out ESPECIALLY in ozone park on crossbay blvd. LOL Where do you really think you are? A stylist started my blowout looking very unhappy to be doing it then passed me off to another stylist who didn't say hello or one word to me. Just looked annoyed to be blowing my drying my hair. I paid $75 plus a $20 tip for a terrible blow out. My hair was still frizzy I just flat ironed it when I got home. So sorry to have pestered you ladies. Got a color and cut before my wedding this past November. Came out perfect. The girls in here are always helpful and accommodating. Very comfortable atmosphere. Devin has done my hair twice and she's great. Will be back again. She even gave me a few tips for prepping my hair before the stylist did my updo for the wedding. Months ago I wrote a negative review for this place and the experience I had. I was first berated and then asked to take it down - which I did (only after I had gotten my hair fixed elsewhere from the mess made here). Needless to say, my long bangs that were botched by one of the "stylists" are still growing out ever so slowly because they were THAT messed up. How do you trim someone's hair AFTER it's been curled? My permanent salon! I've been going here for almost two years and it's been one of my best decisions. My hair stylist here is Devin and she's so amazing, she's done all my colors and hair cuts I really recommend her. For some reason I always end up coming with damaged dry hair and I leave with healthy looking hair and it stays that way, their $20 blowout deal is great. My only complaint is that sometimes I've experienced the receptionist having an unpleasant attitude. Small spot which is fine. It creates a warm and personal atmosphere. It's clean inside with pretty decor. Staff is friendly and personable. They are knowledgeable about different styles for a cut or color. Went here once and will be back- they did a great job on my hair. I've come to this salon twice, first time was a walk in, today by appointment, & I was in & out in under 25 minutes each time. The stylists are all young & friendly, prices are good at $40 for a cut & blow out, $20 for just a blow out. I gave them 4 stars only bc I haven't had anything done here outside of a simple cut. I've been going to this salon for 3 years now & every time I leave I'm happy. Everyone that works here is very professional & pleasant to deal with especially the owner Dana. I've done Haircuts, Permanent Color, Hombre, Highlights etc here and have always been pleased with the end look of my hair. The way this Salon is set up creates such a great atmosphere. The staff are very nice. I went in as a walk-in but was taken shortly after. I needed to get my hair blown out in a bob-style. However the girl that did my hair didn't really seem to know how to do it. Rather than rolling in the ends with a rolling brush she curled them inwards with a curling iron. It wasn't totally the way my hair was supposed to by styled but it didn't look too bad. Their other styles like regular blow outs and curls do look pretty. I'll probably be back again for a different style though. read more

I visited this salon a total of 3 times, Nicolette was my stylist on all three occasions. The first time I got a haircut, which was done the way I wanted. She's great with cuts. My second time I got a balayage. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. When I first saw the outcome I was hesistant because it wasn't quite what I wanted but after she took me in the bathroom to see my hair with that lighting it looked pretty good. When I got home, however, and I looked at my hair in natural lighting I realized my hair was too similar to what I previously had. I called the salon after 3 days to tell them I gave it a try and wasn't satisfied. (She told me to try the color for a few days and if I still didn't like it, she would fix it) i wanted the color I asked for. The receptionist told me an appointment wasn't available on Saturday for another two weeks so I asked if that would be okay. She said it would be no problem. On the day of my appt. I asked to come in at an earlier time because my cat wasn't feeling well and I needed to take her to the vet. The receptionist told me I couldn't and I'd have to reschedule, I explained that pushing the appointment another two weeks would make it a month, she assured me it wouldn't be a problem. (I have a full time, M-F job so their weekday hours didn't work for me). When I went back I was told I would have to pay to fix my hair since it's been a month. I instead opted for Nicolette to tone my hair to the color I originally wanted (I paid for it). About a week later, the color washed off. Fast forward a month later, my hair is beyond damaged to the point where it's matting. When I told Nicolette about the damage to my hair, she stated that there is obvious damage with bleach. I'm aware bleaching causes some damage but I have bleached my hair before but it has never been as bad as it is now, my hair has never matted. My hair is falling out excessively since I colored my hair with Nicolette. I'm not saying she is a bad stylist, but I regret coloring my hair with her. The look I got was not worth the damage that was sustained. Trying to detangle my hair causes even more breakage. My only option now will be to cut my hair into a bob to prevent the matting and breakage. Needless to say, I have found a new stylist who is currently helping me treat the damage that was done to my hair. read more

I had my first color, cut and blowout by Dana today. I was very pleased with the whole service. She was very friendly and cordial. For the first time ever I wasn't asked to remove my glasses which was awesome! She was able to do everything with no problem. Even her assistant that washed my hair was nice and did great. The best part was that I was done in exactly an hour and a half which is great timing. My appointment was at 930 and I was done at 11. Needless to say I will be visiting her hair salon again very soon! read more

This place is okay. I went to get my hair done for a wedding and the stylist was clueless. I didn't receive a wash or any treatment. She used the curls that I had already done from the previous night and did her best to create the side do that I wanted. She used a lot of hair spray to try and keep it in place but it didn't last. The up do dropped within an hour and I had to redo it on my own. I paid $60.00. I would not go back again. Its seems more of a place for a simple curl or blow dry, they don't seem trained for anything else. read more
