This was the first time I came to Perfect cuts Hair Salon. I really wanted to do something different to my hair and thought an Ombre would be a great look for fall. I saw the other Yelpers reviews about Perfect Cuts and decided to give it a try. Isabella has a clean work space and she is a very sweet lady, she's very knowledgeable about her work and enjoys what she does. I told her I wanted an Ombre hair style and cut my hair into layers. She did a great job! At first, the ends of my hair came out VERY blonde and I didn't want that color in the ombre but she offered to change it without a problem. She was able to tone the color down and I really liked the results. She does really great blow-outs and she does not burn your scalp. I really love how my ombre came out! I would definitely go there again and recommend her to anyone. She also does men haircuts. On my stay there, two gentlemen came in for haircuts-each on different times, and they both were very nice to Isabella; I guess they have been her clients for a long time, which shows she's a good hair stylist. read more

This is truly a hidden gem, passed this salon many times and didn't even know it was there. It's hidden off Bell Blvd. on 35th Ave., a small salon next to the dry cleaner. I was looking for a new hair stylist and was referred to Isabel by a close friend, she did my color and haircut. Isabel is amazing, she is friendly and did an amazing job on my hair. I will never go anywhere else, she listens to what you want and is so talented. I've gone back for blowouts every few weeks, I walk out happy and feeling beautiful every time. Not to mention all the compliments I've gotten on how fabulous my hair looks. Miriam is also incredible with the up dos, she did my daughter's hair for her sweet 16 and it was stunning! Great spot on 35th Ave just off Bell Blvd. Sonya is sweet and did a fantastic job making my dry, thin hair look great.

My daughter found this salon and made an appointment for me to get my roots high lighted, I explained to the stylist what I wanted and showed a picture. I did not want my hair damaged or brassy. She took her time and worked the highlights all around my hair (I wear it up for work). When it was done she offered to make it lighter and put more toner if I wanted too, but I thought it looked great. I'll be back to get my roots high lighted. Highly recommended! read more

First off my hair history: I dyed my hair in December, and although the box said medium brown... It turned out being Jet black. So what do I do? Dye it again in a pathetic attempt to fix the damage I had done.... And once again it turned out black. I kept my hair basically hidden until now because I hate how it looked but I put my faith in Miriam and let me tell you she is a HAIR GODDESS!! The picture I posted is my dream "JLo look" that I've been wanting and she was able to get me there in 2 visits. Why not all in one visit? Because she actually cares about what you do to your hair and is aware of how much she thinks it can take in one visit. I've been avoiding salons like the plague because I never seemed to have a good experience but she made me feel comfortable. I gave her creative space and she made magic happen. What color did she use, what color are the highlights? I have absolutely no idea because she seemed very confident in everything she did that I didn't feel the need to go over her every move. The place is small but nice and clean. You won't get that intimidating feeling like when you go to bigger salons, it's very much a cozy atmosphere. If you do want to do something crazy like I did, I 100% recommend going on a weekday. read more

I went in here last year when I had a day off of work. I had already washed my hair at home and figured I should probably get a quick cut since I was available. I found this place on Yelp, since it was close to my house and open, not to mention inexpensive. I had shoulder length hair, but really needed a trim and some layering, or at the very least have the bulkiness taken out. I saw the sign outside and asked for the $12 cut. When i asked for it, the two ladies inside both said "sure!" Without any explanation of additional costs or add ons. During the cut I had mentioned several times to my stylist that I wanted the bulk taken out, but she didn't seem to have a strong command of English and didn't quite understand what I meant. She was often asking another woman (the owner?) what I was saying. I actually would've given two stars to be fair (since it WAS a cheap and washless cut), but they were also missing disinfectant and/or an autoclave. My stylist was pulling combs, brushes, and scissors out of drawers AND PUTTING THEM BACK IN after she finished with me. I have to take off a star for ick-factor. I kept telling her to debulk more, but after realizing she pulled random combs/ brushes from the drawer, I kept quiet so I could just get out of there faster. Well, Yelpers, you get what you pay for... Only the stylist oddly and inexplicably charged me $15, not 12 (did she give herself a tip?). I ended up going home and debulking the hair myself with feathering shears. And to boot, the haircut she gave me was significantly uneven. Sigh. read more

Yelp won't let me remove my original posting. I would warn others to stay away from this place. I had a bad experience. They were nasty to me even though I had already been there several times. I had to put a cloth over my face because the fumes for the highlighting were so strong. That has never happened before at any salon. They also dried the hell out of my hair. Never again! read more

Thanks to Yelp I found this place! I called ahead and made an appointment (which was easy in the middle of the week) and was pleased to find out that Isabel offers a price for just simple "cuts". I usually am picky about the type of shampoo/conditioner and products I use and I never blow-dry my hair.. so its hard for me to find a place that will charge simply for a cut/trim. I walked in and was out in 10 minutes! I got layers and a trim for $12!! I got home and looked at my hair and you would of thought it cost me at least $40! Isabel was very sweet, comforting and thoughtful. She makes you feel as if you're stepping into her home. Despite her being quick, I still feel like I got a great cut! Sorry to say I gave it a chance in spite of the fact the salon itself leaves a lot to be desired. I ended up with a haircut that's longer on one side than the other with choppy layers. The touch up on my highlights ended up turning me blond for the most part ( I'm brunette). Needless to say I won't be going back even if the price was very reasonable. Because I just recently moved to Bayside, I assumed finding a new hair salon would be complicated because there are so many in the area! But after reading the Yelp reviews for Perfect Cuts, I knew it would be a safe first choice. I'm so glad this place welcomes walk-ins, accepts credit cards, and is open until 7:30pm! That way, I didn't have to rush myself driving straight after work. Just to be clear, this is not the most glamorous of salons. But Isabel and Miriam are so friendly and funny, you feel so comfortable being there. Miriam did not trim too much off the length, which is what most stylists tend to do, and she gave me beautiful layers! And the haircut was only $15? Unbelievable. Additionally, they give you a customer loyalty card that gets you a free 9th haircut after receiving 8 stamps. read more

I almost didn't write this review because I want this to be my secret place. Then, I thought, that is not very Yelper like. Perfect Cuts Hair Salon is the best place to get your hair done. Period. That's it. End of discussion. This is the Uber of hair salon - you want it, you get it, no fuss, no mess - just happiness. I was looking for a new hair designer, and it took me a while because there were so many places that had bad reviews. Finally, I gave PCH a shot since I was looking more and more like a wet rat. And, I have to say, I am a newly made lady today with my hair cut. I didn't have to negotiate, explain, and fight to not be charged extra - which, ladies, you know it happens in salons. I'm so happy I found Isabella! I am so picky about my blow outs and after my previous hair stylist moved I was on the hunt for another one. I tried 5 different salons after and I just didn't love how my hair came out. After checking this place out on Yelp I gave it a try and seriously I could not be any happier. I religiously come to have my hair blown out every week,, that is how much i love her! Prices are amazing (wash, blow out and curls on the bottom $30) and there is free parking in the back. This is a lovely salon. I admittedly don't get much work on my hair done - I love my natural hair color and it's pin straight. But, I've searched for a hair stylist that will honor my intentions while adding her own expertise and experience to truly give me what I want. The lovely owner knows me as we've been seeing each other for a year and gives me the bounce I desire by giving me textured, long layers. It always grows out so lovely and I make the 30 minite drive Just for this hair cut. It is always well worth it to me. If I ever did want to do something more complicated with my hair, I'd trust her to handle it anyway. read more

I am really disappointed in this salon. I was actually excited to find a dominican hair salon in bayside given that they literally do not have any near by. Given my experience today, it is safe to say that I will never go here again. This salon is said to close at 6:30pm on Saturday, so I end up getting there at 5:40 pm with the intentions of just getting my ends cut. Not to get a blow dry or my hair done, just a simple hair cut that does not take more then FIVE MINUTES! When I arrive, there was only two people there to get there hair done, and one was almost done. When I asked to get my hair cut the worker simply goes "not today", that is the rudest thing I have heard given that I am a paying customer. Oh well guess I wil l be taking my business and money else where! They just lost a customer. read more

i went to the perfect cuts salon after seeing isabel's work on my best friend (whos review and pic is below, mabel g) and her sister who went from brown to blonde which isabel accomplished without having to use bleach! i wanted a change as well and knowing both friends received great results i went to isabel. she cut dyed and blew out my hair and i was in love! i couldnt stop looking in the mirror. she is very professional and wants to see her clients happy. she went back and lightened my hair more after seeing that my hair wasnt taking the color i wanted which shows she takes her work seriously. i got so many compliments on my hair and will definitely be going back to perfect cuts read more

After a really bad experience at a hair salon in Flushing, Queens I havent had a hair cut for an entire year and I was looking for a place where I could get a haircut. I found Perfect Cuts Hair Salon because from reading the reviews on their Yelp page, I told myself why not. Before the first time I came in, I made an appointment to do my hair for my boyfriend's prom and being that I didn't go to my own prom I wanted my hair to look nice. I came in the next day and was told that no one called in the day before asking for an appointment. That really bugged me but I was nevertheless helped within maybe 15-30 minutes. I simply wanted my hair curled and a waterfall braided into my hair. All I got was a half-hearted braid that looked nothing like the picture I showed to the hairdresser and uneven curled hair. If I knew my hair would've turned out like this I would've just done my own hair at home and not waste my time. I also recently wanted to get my hair ombre'd because I've been wanting to do it to my hair for a very long time and I thought I could actually trust the reviews on Yelp but nope. I came in and had to wait 30 minutes which was fine. I told the hair stylist I wanted about 2 inches off and my hair to be in a V shaped at the back. I then wanted a light caramel ombre. The stylist was horrible. She took half of my hair and took her scissors and snipped straight across without any thoughts and I thought she was going to fix it because all she did was cut straight across. I kept asking her whether she was going to shape it afterwards and she just kept nodding her head but did absolutely nothing and continued to go on and ombre my hair. The ombre wasn't even an ombre. My hair looks as if someone painted the bottom of my hair like a rectangle. It looks horrible. I kept asking the hair stylist on why she wasn't doing anything to fix it and she kept telling me that that's how an ombre is supposed to look like. Never have I ever experienced this. If you're a new customer and you're thinking about coming here, please do your research. I think the owner's regulars would really enjoy this place but if you don't get your hair done by Isabel then you'll be dissapointed. read more

I can't understand how people are giving her five stars. They must be friends or relatives. At first she seems nice but do not let that fool you. She is very mean. She put the blow dryer so close to my scalp she burnt my scalp and then she put it on my forehead and I screamed. it appeared to be deliberate. I told her she was hurting me and she shrugged it off-oh, no you are too sensitive. She has serious personality issues. She is also very rough when she washed my hair, pushing my head back real hard. I guess you better pray she likes you because she can be very mean if she does not like you. I was told she worked at supercuts in Bayside and she had issues there. I have pin straight black hair so I was looking to lighten it. The last time I had it highlighted was 7 years ago so I was skeptical. I made that mistake and it turns out, Isabel (the salon owner) doesn't even know who made this voucher nor does she gain any profit from it. I am a creature of habit and am proudly known as a loyal customer. I was going to the same hair salon for about 5 years, because it was close to my job and really liked my stylist. The cuts started out at $18, then gradually rose over the years....$18 to $22 to $25 to $30. I was driving a total of 24 miles round trip (gas is very expensive, too) to get a $30 haircut ($35 or more with tip). I kept going for two years after losing my job, because I was a loyal customer. But, enough became enough. The money and wear and tear and gas was becoming too much. Sadly I decided it was time to find a hair salon locally, near me in Bayside, NY. Sooooo, after going into several different places and finding out that they're all OVER $30 for a basic cut, I got frustrated and disappointed. Thanks to a local FACEBOOK group, I found out about Perfect Cuts and Isabelle!!! I could not be happier!!! I totally LOVE my haircut and the price is HALF of what I was driving 24 miles round trip for!!!! And the icing on the cake? They're right around the corner from me!!!
