The yoga environment is so positive. I loved the two classes I've been to because the teachers led great vinyasa flows that left me feeling so relaxed afterwards. The space is really large and with the sunroof that lets the light shine through, it feels just such a refreshing environment. Also, I love the fact that they give wet eucalyptus towels!!! Dancing Dogs Yoga's Lunch Yoga was exactly what I was looking for today! I worked out pretty hard all week, the prior to this class I did a really intense HIIT class and really just needed to slow down and get a good stretch in and working with Shannon I was able to do just that. The week was very hectic for me and being able to end the week grounding and centering myself was a perfect was to step into my weekend. I'm not from Atlanta, but because ClassPass has allowed virtual offerings I have been "traveling" to different cities to experience yoga classes at amazing local businesses in other places. To begin, the name of this studio had me! Dogs?! I mean, c'mon. So cute! I attended the Yin class online with Alex. She is a great instructor. I loved how she integrated explaining Yin principles to the group and offering spiritual takes on Yin as a whole. Where I live, Yin classes can be hard to find, so I ALWAYS appreciate when an instructor know their stuff! Just FYI if you also plan to drop-in virtually: the instructor did not physically take the class with us, but rather talked to the screens. This doesn't bother me because I am an Advanced Yin student and can take verbal cues, but just worth noting if you need visuals. I'm in love with their colorful outlook, including their website, which says: We are still choosing love over fear. I regret not being able to experience their brick-and-mortar in-person, but this was a fun experience. I'd recommend this studio for Yin, without question. On my next trip to Atlanta, I would certainly take the time to visit Dancing Dogs Yoga! read more

Baptiste Power Yoga at its best! Coming from Nashville to Atlanta, I was searching for a yoga studio that inspired me past my physical yoga practice and inspired my soul. That's is what I found at DDY! The physical practice is challenging, the heat is cleansing, and you will walk out feeling like a BADASS who can conquer this world! Two years after walking through DDY doors and I cannot imagine a better community! DDY is a Baptiste style studio aka 90 degree vinyasa/power flow. Every class follows the same sequence with small variations, and no music (thank goodness because I avoided studio practice for 10+ years bc I hate music during my practice). Teachers talk and walk throughout the room, and do not demonstrate poses unless doing a mini workshop in the flow. The studio offers 101 sessions for beginners, but also it's totally cool to take child's pose at any point during class if you are unsure of a pose or just need a break. Week night evenings and weekend classes are PACKED, so reserve your spot through the MINDBODY app and line your mat up on the lines so everyone can fit! I've met the best humans of my life in this studio, and am proud to call it my second home. We rock out between classes, and drop the f word in class, but ya know, it's our thing! read more

Prior to DDY, I had only done yoga probably less that you can count on one hand. Got into yoga to change up the routine and help clear my head. DDY is a judgement free experience and helped a complete novice not worry about being perfect in the poses. They are soon opening in the sleek SPX alley, right next to some of the most exciting new additions to the beltline. This community is so welcoming and come as you are - they cater their classes for all backgrounds and levels of yoga experience. Beginners and experience practitioners alike willl be challenged in the Baptiste method. We do practice to our own breath, but the energy gets so high that you don't notice the lack of music for yogis who are used to flowing to gangster rap and house music. I happen to not love hot yoga, and only do yoga itself a few times a year... and I'm still giving this five stars. The people here are the kindest, most welcoming I have ever met in my entire life. They aren't creepy or intrusive, but are just so welcoming and thoughtful. I feel so awkward showing up to studios not knowing what to expect or do, and that was all absolved at Dancing Dogs. The actual class was in a room with no mirrors and the instructors have all been very skilled at talking you through how to modify or not modify a move. Mostly the focus is on pushing your body while listening to it too. It is the most relaxed I've ever been in a class and most accepted as a human. I have always been able to find parking spots outside the studio, but there is complementary vallet if the spots are all taken (so maybe pack a few dollar bills in case you need to tip). The price of classes is super reasonable, and honestly costs half of what they are worth. Added bonus: I always walk away with some really cool free sample of body care or organic food bar. So yay! read more

I started practicing yoga back in 2010 while training for a marathon and that's when I found DDY. I can honestly say I never would have made it through that rigorous training without Shelley and the entire DDY clan. At that time, I was living in small town in South Carolina so to have access to such a powerful studio like DDY was a godsend. I currently live in Charlotte but while on a weekend in Atlanta, I randomly stumbled across DDY again! I was so excited to see the studio had grown from one to several in SC, NC and GA. There are way too many great places in Atlanta to do hot yoga to select this one. It is more expensive than most studios in the area. Heat is not evenly distributed in the room. It's an ok workout, but I didn't leave feeling relaxed and energized. The playlist was not overly impressive. When I went, the classroom windows were covered in photos of the teachers like a billboard advertisement. It feels like they are focused on making money rather than wellness. Half of the studio is used to sell merchandise.This can also be seen in all of their different memberships and prices. If you are looking for a relaxing yoga community, look elsewhere. Westside Yoga has a similar upbeat style but it is a more cost effective and relaxing option in the area. read more

This place is amazing. I started coming regularly to the power yoga class in November when I was personally struggling a lot with anxiety and depression. Since then, my mental and physical health have improved dramatically. It is my favorite part of the day and I have loved getting to know the community. My first visit at Dancing Dogs Yoga was a morning power yoga class. I usually sleep in on Saturdays but I was driven to try it out because I heard many good things from different people. The class was invigorating and Shelley, the instructor and owner, brought fun and lightheartedness to her teaching. It was a great workout and even with a healing wrist injury I felt comfortable with the exercises (or modifying them as needed.) DDY creates a welcoming atmosphere for yogis at any level or place in their practice. I will surely be back! read more

If you are looking for a Baptiste inspired yoga studio then this is the place. I never thought I would like doing any kind of exercising without music, but I was able to connect more with the poses and get into my body at this studio. What I also love is the community that is there for you. Even as a beginner I did not feel lost or out of place.
