Not only was I upset that I drove an hour for poor quality fish, rotten avocado and below average service, but I will now not even give this restaurant a second chance. I accidentally left my debit card at this restaurant on Monday October 12th. I called and spoke to an employee letting them know I would be in within the week to pick it up. On Sunday October 18th I went to pick it up with the identification I was told I would need. Employee told me the manager Alex shredded it. If you are looking to spend your money on good quality food and average service, avoid this place. There is a reason they offer 50% off. read more

Okay folks, I used to venture to Dancing Roll quite frequently when they first opened a while back. The idea of half-price sushi is so alluring that it even snatches up even the most savvy sushi connoisseurs. I love the idea of splitting my sushi bill in half, while still feeling satisfied. But with sushi, even more so than with most things, you get what you pay for. You are eating RAW fish and there's a huge difference between fish flown daily from Japan and half-price fish. There is a serious and obvious cut in quality, that even the most basic appreciator of sushi will pick up on. I recently took a visit back for sake of nostalgia while my siblings were in town. With each piece of sushi, I felt I would probably be just as happy not eating this as I am eating this. Nothing is vibrant and nothing is flavorful. My brother tried the surf clam, which was dull and dry. My other brother tried the king crab roll, which contained so little king crab that he thought he had been given a shrimp roll by mistake. The waiter informed him that it was indeed the king crab roll, but since they use real king crab (why wouldn't they?) they use very little. It was essentially an overpriced shrimp roll. We also ordered uni for the table. Two of us at the table ate the uni, including myself. It tasted heavy and a bit off. My brother tried it and spit it out, stating it was rancid. One was left on the table. That night I became extremely ill and the other guest who ate the uni became ill as well. We tried to call back a few times the next day to inform the restaurant so they could get rid of their bad uni, but they never picked up the phone. It also took about 30 minutes to get our sushi. Our waiter stopped by maybe twice. The restaurant is dirty and crammed. Please be careful. I would feel safer eating grocery store sushi than sushi at Dancing Roll. I got lured in by low prices and paid the price. There are a few great options in the area for sushi and they are worth the extra money. If you insist on taking the risk to save a buck, order the cooked options. read more

The Dancing Roll is my go-to sushi spot! My boyfriend and I get their lunch special at least 3-7 times a month. We're addicted to say the least. I swear he constantly craves their Sunday Morning Roll. With half priced sushi all day on top of great lunch rates during the weekdays until 2pm, their prices are well beyond reasonable. How can you beat a hefty serving of delicious vegetable fried rice and miso soup for only $5? Or three rolls, a salad and some miso for $8.99? Our food has been hot, fresh, precise and absolutely delicious every single time. The staff are always very pleasant and kind to us whether dining in or grabbing some food to-go. We have been to several sushi restaurants and always come back to The Dancing Roll. I can't recommend this restaurant enough, they have never disappointed! If I could give it a zero star I would the sushi was mediocre at best I ordered a roll that had less items in it than ones that were on the menu expecting that they would be 7-8$ each at half price only to get a bill for $43 and they stated the reason why the sushi was not at half price is because it wasn't on their menu! #wtf been coming here since it opened. #neveragain Not to mention their AC was out and it had to have been 80-85 degrees inside the place!!! read more

We ordered take out from Dancing Roll on a Thursday night. It was one of the fastest take out calls ever and I was told the order would be ready in 20 minutes. Alright! When we opened up the bag at home, our order was exactly right and came with chopsticks, soy sauce, and generous sides of wasabi and ginger. We ordered edamame and four rolls. The edamame was warm and lightly salted, and one order was a good amount for two people to share. The Alaskan roll was good if unremarkable. I liked the spicy salmon roll (yes it's just a salmon roll with spicy mayo, but it's a great combination) and the rainbow roll was good as well. The best roll was the spider roll. Crispy soft shell crab and crab stick, plus cucumber, avocado, lettuce and a tasty sauce. Yum! The only thing we didn't like was the soy sauce, which was super salty. We used our own low-sodium Kikkoman instead. All told, a delicious night in cost only $22 plus tip. We will definitely order again, and I'd like to dine in sometime too! read more

I always feel like this place is my hidden dive in the suburbs. But, as you can see from the reviews, I'm not the only one that's discovered it. The carry out service is fast and consistent. I've order carry out several times and I've always received exactly what I ordered. The food was hot and made to order correctly. Inside, the restaurant is dimly lit and has never felt overly full. This is nice, because you feel like it's just for you and, it's not too loud. It's easy enough to have conversation without having to tell. The sushi is made to order and several are half price all the time. There's a good selection of mainstays and a little more inventive, like hotdog sushi. It's a nice place, makes you feel like you're on s little adventure. Bring your friends or a date, they'll think this place is your place like you discovered this unique little joint. read more

It's good for being half-priced sushi. However, the shrimp (from my shrimp tempura roll) was quite rubbery in texture, which is a bit off putting. It could mean that they freeze and then cook it. As for the rolls themselves, they were quite sloppily put together. Some were literally falling apart as they sat on the plate. The agedashi tofu tasted good and presented well, but the fried skin can be crispier. Perhaps they should use a different type of batter. The waiter was very nice and genuinely made the experience so much better. My first time was very good, but I think that some of the kitchen they hired wouldn't put the same care into their work. read more

I've been to Dancing Roll many times and sorta can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. Back in the day we used to go to Dancing Wasabi in Mt. Lookout after the bars closed and had the best sushi there we had maybe ever had. Our first time at Dancing Roll seemed awwwwfully familiar...so we mentioned to the waiter how much it tasted like Dancing Wasabi and he confessed many of the Wasabi staff had left there and opened Dancing Roll. Good for us!! Although the place is on the small side I've never had to wait for a table. Maybe it's just my timing. The prices can't be beat for the quality. Half price rolls every day! I have maybe had 70% of the rolls on the menu and never gotten one I didn't love, my favorite being the Caterpillar Roll. So with all the love, why not 5 stars? They broke a cardinal sushi rule. They are of the "spicy mayo = spicy tuna roll" school. No. Spicy mayo does not make a spicy tuna roll. Dancing Wasabi did it right. You know better, guys! If they would throw away their spicy mayo bottles I would give them 5 stars. Ordered without the mayo though, the spicy tuna roll is delicious! read more

my favorite sushi place to go. servers are always nice except one of the seating guys with the glasses (haven't seen him in a while) is slightly rude. they always play (in my opinion) really good music. when it's busy it can be crowded in there since the building is so small. there has only been 1-2 times where i've felt the sushi was dry or tasted off, and i've gone many times. this is a place i always recommend my friends and enjoy taking them too. price is good for the specialty sushi's. sometimes the miso soup is too salty, but it has seemed to improve recently. read more

Very consistent, servers are always so kind and polite. Food always taste well. The Korean dishes need some work. I know it's owned by Koreans but I know Korean food and when I complained that the Korean pancake was not done in the middle I was told that's the way they are made...my mom, grandma, aunts and friends are Korean..so no it's not made that way. I am always skeptical of half price sushi restaurants. Sushi is something that I almost prefer to pay full price to ensure I am getting full price fresh fish. The ambiance is ok. It isn't very big and all the seating that is jammed in leaves you feeling a little claustrophobic. The kitchen is open, but knowing that your kitchen is open and in view of the customer, you might want to make sure it is clean and organized. We started with the fried crab. It was something different and very tasty. We ordered the rainbow roll, sunday morning roll, orange roll, and playboy roll. They were all okay. You could tell that is wasn't super fresh fish. The service was good. The wait staff was super friendly. Overall, it is okay for half price sushi, but I'll stick with full price sushi in the future. read more

You know it's good sushi when it's tucked away in a dingy shopping strip! :)s I tried their hyde park location, which I think emerged later. I love them as well. Although they both may source their fish from the same place, the fish at this location tastes more fresh. I also think they are more generous with their salmon nigiri. The waitresses at this location are friendly and personable. Kind of weird that I was asked about my meal before I even took a bite (literally was asked 1 min after receiving food), but I guess the servers there kinda do so out of routine more than timing/necessity. Sushi was still good, and the price point is good. Same as their hyde park location. My bill came out to ~15 and I came out feeling full, almost struggled to get the last 4 pieces in my mouth. It was kind of dimly lit, but that might be a cost-efficiency thing. Funny Story: teen/college couple came in for a pickup order. Guy wanted to order 2 rolls, girl wanted to order 1 and share it...didn't know how big they were or any other details. Both were griping over the menu and said very loudly that they "really would not EVER try raw fish" due to a fear of foodborne illness. The girl was especially very rude, intermittently saying "come on, chop CHOP, hurry up!" and other rude snippets of the like. At that point, I received my sushi (mostly nigiri, sashimi, and maybe ONE cooked roll), and this couple very overtly looked over at my meal -- they looked grossed out and did not attempt to hide it. SO culturally insensitive of them, but I can't change anyone else's mind. Overall, good space, nice staff, and lovely sushi. We stopped in for an early dinner and left disappointed. Starting with a glass of their house Riesling that was flat. Ordered 5 different sushi rolls and with the exception of the volcano roll being baked, the other 4 rolls didn't taste fresh. Not sure if it was the rice used or what. Also when you check in to this location in West Chester, you'll get yelp reward offering a free desert with any order over $35. When I tried to redeem it, our server informed us that "we no longer have that offer". When I asked why it was still on Yelp, she proceeded to tell us that the owners won't honor the reward and she's asked them several times to remove if from Yelp because other customers have come in with the same offer which they also refused to honor. read more

It might get overlooked because it is in a less impressive strip mall and right next to a Chinese buffet advertising all you can eat but the food here is GOOD. Love love love this place! The employees are very nice and social. You don't get that a lot. The service was quick and our drinks were always full. There's half-prices sushi all day, and the menu was also very decently priced. The food was quick to come out, and the owner would come and talk to us to see how we were doing often. It was my birthday and we had to wait for a table (which was totally fine as we were with good friends) but the host gave me a glass of wine to enjoy while I waited.
