Kevin came out and we did a preliminary drawing of the first option. After getting pricing from the contractor on moving a wall, I decided against that design. I drew out another option and Kevin came back out to finalize measurements with the second design. I am a visual person, so I had the major room changes taped out on the floor with painters tape. Kevin sent me the drawings via email and I approved the drawings. I hired a separate company to do the countertops and they were very willing to work with Kevin on the design collaboration necessary to make my dream a reality. A couple weeks in, I called Kevin to add depth to the island to accommodate a downdraft vent rather than having a hood suspended from the ceiling, and sent him the specifications for the downdraft. He also had specifications for the sink and appliances, although I planned on using the appliances I already had installed in my old kitchen. When the cabinets were installed, I was ecstatic. This was the culmination of 10 years of dreaming and planning. However, for some reason, he hadn't measured the appliances and built the cabinet for a 30" oven rather than the 27" I had. The same was true for the sink cabinet. He added a patch and touch up paint and said this was normal. The additional 3" he added to the island wasn't sufficient for the downdraft vent, and as a result he had to shorten the island drawers to allow it to fit. There was another fiasco with the pantry cabinet, but I was satisfied with his solution for fixing this. He apparently also hadn't measured the dimensions of the kitchen bench I had taped out on the floor, and made it considerably smaller than I had anticipated. I take full responsibility for this, however, as I didn't double-check the dimensions on my floor with what he had on the drawing. When I became upset about the lack of measurements, he was offended by my questioning of his abilities. He said these were my problem, that I was getting upset over nothing and subsequently quit working with me. Although I paid him in full, they never did come back to put the trim on. One of the lazy susan cabinets broke, and when I called Richard he said it was an easy fix and I could do it myself. If you choose to use them, be sure to double check ALL the dimensions on the drawings, and do not question their work or show any distress. They don't deal well with that and have no interest in customer service. Or for goodness sake, don't pay them in full if you aren't completely happy. You will never hear from them again.

There was a winery offering donations for wine tasting, C G DArie winery in El Dorado County and great live music, which made the day really fun! My neighbors attended to find new flooring for their home and found the event an easy way to find multiple businesses and quotes as well. I definitely recommend going and plan to go next year as well.

We just finished up having new granite countertops installed in our kitchen by Picasso. I have to…read moresay it was a pleasure working with Alex and Irena. They are real pros and know what they are doing. Much to our surprise, the whole process was fairly painless. Alex came out and took some measurements then sent me an estimate to replace our old 6in. tile countertops and backsplash. Their price was competitive and they said they could have the whole job done in two to three weeks, once they started work, so they got the job. First, we picked out the granite slabs we liked from a local slab supplier. Then Alex's crew came over and put down thick construction paper on the floors. Then his crew got to work on removing the old tile, sink and stove. They finished in a day, AND they did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Meanwhile, back at their shop, Irena was emailing us options for our new sink and faucet. She was also working with us on the schedule for installing everything. Next, Alex came over to measure for the new countertops. After that we went to their shop to pick out the best slab for the big island in our kitchen. Alex is a real artist and helped us make the perfect selection. Next, one of Alex's finish cabinetry subs came over and made the modifications to our existing casework to accommodate the new ranch-style sink and our convection microwave, oven, warming drawer combo. After that the sink was installed. In no time Alex's and his crew were installing our new countertops. They did their work professionally and quickly and my wife and I are very happy with our new kitchen. I highly recommend this company. Several years ago we remodeled our house which included new countertops throughout.
