The customer service is good and there are always a lot of people to help me at the register when needed which is a plus...however, whenever im out in the isles there are hardly ever workers! maybe one--two on a good day. Doesn't even deserve a 1 star. Had a really bad experience today. The box we grab the merchandise was clearly marked $29.97 and we have 6 of them. Went to check out, scan was $79. 10/10/26 We went to the Elk Grove Home Depot and asked for a kitchen remodel estimate. The person put the info in the computer and said someone would call in a day or 2. Later that day, Daisie left a message and phone number. The call back went to an advertisement, so we called the number on the website and talked with someone who told me that Michael was the manager and would return my call. Michael, a manager, did call but we couldn't hear the complete call back phone number. 1/12/26 we called and talked to Kimberly M. who said Michael was on the back of the store; she would give Michael our info and ask him to call. Michael never called. 1/15/26 Talked to Kimberly again. She made an appt for us for Saturday, 1/17 at 10:00 am. We called Friday, 1/16/256 to confirm with Kimberly (866-646-0656). However, the guy we spoke with did not see that an appt was scheduled. Michael never called again and couldn't be reached; Kimberly pretended to help and gave us bogus information and a bogus appt. Finally we contacted "ANGI"S LIST" and a contractor contacted us right away. We will never, ever call this Home Depot for any construction/remodel needs again. They must have enough work and money. Their customer service stinks. They wasted a lot of our time and we think they never intended to contact us. We may try Lowe's instead. read more

I am remodeling my home and I ordered 11 doors from Home Depot, 2 of the doors were damaged and I had them sent back after waiting over 6 weeks, I had to wait another 6 weeks and my bathroom door swung the wrong way, I went back to Home Depot and they picked up the door but the managers decided that per there policy that they were not responsible and I need to come pick up the door and spend more money ordering the correct door because I used my contractor ( Home Depot measured the doors) and pay for a new door. I am very upset and shocked at the poor customer service and lack of empathy! I have spent a lot of money with Home Depot during my remodeling and I am pissed to say the least of how I am being treated after spending so much money. I asked for the General Manager but he is too busy to take time to try and resolve this disservice to me. I wish I could take back everything I bought and spend someplace else. Masonite makes the doors and there customer service is just as bad, they fight with Home Depot on who is responsible when they are the ones who make the doors and will not expedite your order when they are in the wrong. Needless to say I will be shopping elsewhere. Both companies ( Home Depot and Masonite) do not care about their customers being happy with the service, once they have your money, anything goes!!! read more

Had to get a new filter for my AC unit. They always have the stuff you need and the people working here are always helpful when you need it. I get the high-end filters since my wife is really bad in allergies and I am a little. So we get the Merv 13 ones. They have them here for 19.97 and I looked on the internet and the cheapest was 23 bucks so I have to go back and just buy a entire case of them so I don't have to worry about it and they are the cheapest. I needed a new light fixture for my backyard and they have a large selection of those to. Man they sure are a lot of money if you want them to look nice. I'm currently remodeling my home and have made many many trips to Home Depot in the last few weeks. Each experience has been positive. I had to do a return the other day and the gal who assisted me was friendly and helpful. However, the structure of the return area is terrible. The line to enter and exit or awkward and you really cannot maneuver a cart. A redesign would be really helpful. I've also ordered for curbside pick up and this is so helpful! They text/email you a link when your order is ready and you just select the link to let them know. They brought my big order out and placed it in my trunk, all without me getting out of the car. :D read more

I came here looking for some plants to add to my vegetable garden. I initially went to Green Acres but the line there was horrendous, so I decided to go here instead. The selection they have is mediocre. And they seem to only carry one brand- Bonnie. They also don't have multiple packs meaning you could only buy plants in single pots versus buying a 6 pack. The plants also don't look well maintained. Several were wilted and there was a pile of dying plants left out for customers to see. This was all outside in the front of the store. I then went to the garden center hoping there were more vegetable plants in that area. Nope. So all they have is what you see out front. Here's the annoying part. When it was time to pay for my items, I proceeded to the register. Keep in mind I used the registers in the garden center and not the main store. There were 2 registers but only one was staffed. The woman working was just standing there and didn't look approachable. I was the only customer there at this time. I was thinking maybe the registers were self-checkout only since the worker wasn't trying to interact with me. So I had to be the one to greet her and ask where I could check out. This is one of my pet peeves for real. I hate when, as a customer, it becomes your responsibility to get the staff to do their job. So I asked, "can I check-out here?" She said, "Yes" and proceeded to scan my items. She didn't say a word. Just scanned my things and handed me the receipt, no eye contact or anything. This Home Depot must have the worse customer service ever. I did a store pick up for three white patio shades. When I picked them up I waited over 30 minutes in line, and tried to do their curbside pick up but no one picked up the phone. I understand it probably due COVID 19, but please don't advertise if you cannot commit to the service. The phone just rings and rings. When I got home, I installed the shades in the evening. I was so happy, until I woke up the next day to realize one of the shades was a cream like color. It's odd because I didn't see cream as an option while online shopping. So either one of the product was a defect, or they gave me the wrong one, idk. But I couldn't stand not having all the shades match. I tried calling and calling but no one picked up. After my fifth try, a week later, I got a hold of someone. The manager who picked up wasn't too happy. Then I got transferred to have someone check if they had anymore in stock. They didn't. She told me to come in and return it and get a refund. I get to the counter, and I think her name was Tracy. She was so rude. I told her what happen, and she said they didn't make the mistake, it was the warehouse because I ordered online. I told her no, it was a store pick up and it was items in stock in your store. She didn't bother to listen, and quite honest, didn't care. I got my refund and then I asked her where were the shades, so I could browse. She said flooring, and then helped the next customer. She could have at least pointed me to the right direction. I'm taking my business to Lowe's now. read more

I usually love to go to Home Depot, especially most of the staff here is very helpful and friendly. Today I have the experience that pushes me to write a review. For the record, I am a minority female, going to the store for a specific need today: 4x10 feet redwood posts. I found the wood pretty easily (as I know this location layout fairly well), as there is not much people in the redwood section. Inflation meant each piece about $40 each. The wood is stacked high at 4 feet from the ground (mixed with other non-10 feet wood), and quite heavy for 1 person to safely take it down to the cart without a fuss, especially if you are short. I waited in the lumber section for a while and didn't find any staff, and I walked to another store aisle and found a female of about my height (5.5 feet) to see if she can help to find 1 man in the store to help, preferably a strong man. She found me a caucasian round male, but he looked up and down at me, and told her coworker that he don't work in lumber and refused to help. At the end, the female went above and beyond (and probably felt bad for me) and together she helped me to get the 4 wood post down. She is a super star, and I want to thank her at the bottom of my heart. As for that male coworker, he is probably the laziest and worst employee I have seen in that Home Depot, ever. Please note: he just refused to help. It was not because he was on break or anything. He didn't even offer to look for the lumber guy or finding another coworker to help, or any indication he is unfit for that job. He was just lazy and when we finished, I saw he was laughing with a bunch of other male coworkers. Living in the area, I went to this location quite a lot (besides ordering online), and he is the only unhelpful (and condescending) staff I've ever seen in this location. read more

Their parking lot has trash all over the place and no garbage cans anywhere to be found. Lot has carts all over and people park in the loading area like it's a valet parking area. I would rather drive to Calvine to Lowe's. My complaint has nothing to do with value of products or selection when there. I had two of the item in my cart already. There were no signs at the item I purchased, letting me know about that. The item I got happened to only have the two I got, on the shelf. Luanna then checked the computer and it showed they had more in stock. She had another associate take over at the register and she went onto the sales floor, grabbed a ladder, and got two more from the overhead stock. The two additional items had a value of ~$46.00. After almost two years of purchasing our home, my wife and I started having the itch to make some upgrades. At the top of our list was to upgrade the floors in our living room (the currently installed linoleum is buckling due to moisture) and in two of our bedrooms (both rooms are currently carpeted). Doing a quick Yelp search, I located a local flooring installer who had great reviews and offered a free inspection/quote. After the installer provided us with a quote, we were faced with deciding where we would purchase the flooring. Ironically, later that evening we saw a Home Depot commercial advertising DIY projects. Although we were not interested in DIY projects, the commercial reminded us that our local Home Depot would be a good start for figuring out what type(s) of flooring would be ideal for our home. When we entered the flooring section we were warmly greeted by an employee named Earnest. We explained to Earnest that we were looking for brownish grey (yes it exists) flooring. Earnest pointed us towards a row of samples that met our requirements. After reviewing a few of the samples, we settled on a flooring that met both our price and appearance expectations. At this point we realized that we were unsure of the size of the rooms that we planned on installing the flooring in. Earnest suggested that we pay the $50 fee to have Home Depot installers come to our home and measure the dimensions of our rooms. The perk(s) to doing this would be that the $50 would cover the measuring of any of the rooms in our house (just in case we decided to install flooring in additional rooms in the near future). The other perk being that if we decided to use Home Depot installers to install our flooring, the $50 would be applied to the installation/materials costs. We ended up paying the $50 to have a Home Depot employee come to our home to measure our rooms. Shortly after the appointment, we were provided with the dimensions for each room. In addition, Home Depot also provided us with a quote for all three rooms. For an additional amount, the Home Depot installers could also move the furniture in the respective rooms. Currently my wife and I are comparing prices with other flooring installers, I will update this review if we end up selecting Home Depot installers. In 2017 I went to Home Depot to purchase bolt cutters to cut a padlock off my gate. I found an associate, an older man, to help me with my purchase. I told him what I needed and why. As a side note, I had very long manicured hot pink fingernails. The man looked at me and proceeded to tell me I couldn't do the job (cut the lock), I'd need help. Game on, wanna bet was my first thoughts. But my verbal response was to thank him for his unsolicited opinion. I told him I'd go to Lowe's. I never wrote a review back then but had I it would have been 1 star. Yesterday, 07/08/19, although I prefer Lowe's, I went to Home Depot because I had limited time to get what I need. It was fairly easy to locate the items I needed. I did have to ask where to locate replacement slats for vertical blinds. An extremely friendly associate working near window coverings/blinds helped me, she had an infectious smile and resembled Melissa McCarthy. Kudos for her assistance. The associate at the self checkout line was also friendly. The customer service today was awesome, hence my 3 star rating of Home Depot off Stockton Blvd in Elk Grove. read more
