It started with the pool having algae issues to the discovery of a leak, a need for skimmer replacement and cracks on the steps. Eventually, after much deliberation, the conclusion was the need to resurface the pool. Then, there was the removal of a 25 plus year old cast iron filled with heavy duty cement diving board base. He found someone to chip that away and to haul it out of the house so that the base is not sticking out of the ground without the diving board. Dane handled all the work from start to finish. Early this year my pool developed a leak in a crack in the deep end. After many calls to various pool services in the area, the only one that gave me the time of day was Dane. Without knowing who I was he continued to take my calls and stayed in contact with me as my entire pool drained. Once I came to the realization that my 40 year old pool need restoration not just a band aid on the crack, I decided to go with Dane's Pool to restore my pool. Dane and his amazing crew did a wonderful job. The demolition went smoothly in spite of the continual storms. My structural crack was repaired along with an additional small crack in the wall of my spa. Other structural issues were identified and addressed, along with decking issues including removal of a raised circular area once used for a diving board. Before I knew it, I had new coping (which I never had before), new tile, new drains to code, a new skimmer and an Auto/fill unit and hand rail, which were also new to my pool. My pool now has a beautiful mini-stone scape finish and looks beautiful. Dane's crew of guys were professional and efficient. They were always there on time and even worked on Weekends to try to complete the job in spite of the weather. I have had a pool since 1999, I first met Dane at that time when his company was also doing the weekly pool maintenance. As his focus shifted to the pool equipment and remodeling, he had still always been responsive when a piece of equipment malfunctioned. He always kept an eye on my pool on each visit and let me know when things may need to be replaced. Fast forward to 2015, we where finally ready to move forward with a remodel. Dane's team was fantastic. They striped to pool very quickly, and then the construction began. We installed a waterfall feature, beautiful pebbletec, new coping, led colored lights, wifi controller, and new tile. Even while construction was already in progress, we added a gas line so that we could add a fire pit area behind the waterfall. That really gave my backyard the wow factor. The whole job was completed in great time and slightly under our budget. We could not be happier. Fast forward to 2018, our fence contractor punctured our gas line in a few places and never informed us. As we started to smell gas, I first called PG&E to figure out what happened. Then I called Dane, who responded the same day, even though we hadn't used him since 2015. He came out to look at it while I was at work, and let me know that they had to dig it up. They found all of the punctures, replaced the line and even had it done by the next day. I didn't even lose a weekend of swimming! Thanks Dane! This review is overdue. I used Dane years ago to take out my diving board, repair pool plumbing, clean out my DE filter and more. Recently, I needed a new cartridge filter system to replace my outdated DE filter and I knew it was going to be over 1,000 dollars. Leslie's ad was for around 1400 dollars but there is a catch. Once you buy into their system, you're stuck with their proprietary parts for life. The Pool Guys would have cost more. Dane's pricing was way better. We had Dane give us an estimate for resurfacing our pool based upon his Yelp reviews. We have moved several states and I rely on Yelp in finding new location contractors. We bought a 1937 house in the bay area with a pool that was put in sometime around the 1940s. The neighbors tell us it went from a WWII victory garden to a pool. This pool needed updating (see photos). We hired Dane and his crew and they did a fantastic job and we are extremely happy with the results. This was not an easy refinishing job and things kept coming up all the way (like finding out the old interior pool tile was actually terra-cotta and 1/2" thick!) They did an amazing job blending in the old copper cup anchors into the tile and making the pool light hole smaller than the huge port hole it used to be. Dane suggested the tile we used and I could not be happier with it. Changing this pool from white/light to a darker/pond look made the world of difference and the darker color blends the old plumbing holes instead of highlighting them so you don't see them, but still light enough so you can see the bottom. You can no longer tell what year the pool went in as it looks new. What I liked the most, was that Dane told you when he or his crew would be showing up and if something changed, he let you know. With all the projects I have with this old house, I appreciate that! No one wants to sit around waiting for people to show up. He never ever did that. I hired Dane to renovate my pool 14 years ago and considered the job a total success so when it came time to renovate again I naturally looked to him. His estimate was the same as others I received so I signed up with him. The project was put on hold on account of County restrictions during the first round of Covid-19 but when he could begin he did so with gracious accommodation to visiting family members. The job required major demolition which was performed without damage to surrounding plantings. Cracks were repaired, drains updated and the new pebbled plaster color was chosen based on his recommendations. Dane did an excellent job for us over the years squeezing every last bit out of our 37 year old pool, but let us know the end had come. The plaster needed replacement, it was simply breaking down.
